Literally 90% of C-POP uses the exact same progression and the exact same melodic lines. It's particularly bad in the mainland

No, not many melodys are same or even similar. Just people who make their own songs they like to put similar melody, so other people would recognize, that it's from this producer or songwriter or whatever. Like Jay chou, if you hear his songs often you will recognize one melody, that he is using for every song (but the songs are not the same at all). And if he produces songs for other singers you will quickly know, that it is his song. That's what many producers in China wants people know. So you'll often know from who this song is. Maybe you just think this, because you've heard only songs from one producer. You just should hear more songs from different producers/singer and you'll know, that not 90% of all melodies are the same.

Okay guys. This is a HUGE stretch. I’ve been watching countless Mando pop mashups hoping to just find this song that I’ve been missing for a decade now. I am a super abc but grew up going to Taiwan for many many summers. There was ONE summer that ONE particular song played in like all the taipei night markets and I just can’t find it!!!! It’s a song that is super meaningful to me. It’s the summer my parents split and spent time with my dad overseas. So this song just brings back lots of sadness but happiness.
I have NO idea what the real lyrics are and I only like remember half of a line and I really really really hope some person on the internet will read this comment and know what song I’m talking about. These aren’t the true lyrics but this is what my memory have convinced me to remember. Here I go:
