      Yep you're right! we would shop in similar places in the UK so I guess it was a way for us to compare prices :) we'll do another video soon and see how much we save

    • @nyleixer
      @nyleixer Před 2 měsíci +1

      not really.. we shop at landers, s&r, SM, robinson's, you name it, but we find it cheaper to buy bulk stuffs even fresh/frozen produce either at landers or s&r since they are usually giving out discounts over than buying the same quantity at SM
      or maybe its just us seeing subtle differences i guess

      I agree with Kim in this vlog. I'm living in the UK and when I go back in PH and do my grocery shopping in Puregold/SM, I still find it more expensive in PH. I guess what is only cheaper in PH are the services (e.g haircut, manicure/pedicure, etc)

    Big corporations have pushed away the competition like the mom and pop shops and your left with very little options. Here where i live in Canada, our grocery store alone are just the big three Loblaw, Sobeys and Costco owns majority of marketshare and the rest are just 3% independent. San Miguel beer Corporations are not just brewery business, they also involved in Oil like Petron and Airports and the rabbit hole goes further. Like the WEF use to say "Own nothing and be Happy."

    True it depends where you live. Tom is right. Or what you can do try to get one of your yaya to go to the palengke and buy your household needs. This is what we do. We give our house assistant the list what to buy. Or you can go with them. But dress simply. Or when your mother arrives try her to go with the yaya. The price difference in buying in the palengke vs Landers will really be huge. Of course you will not find imported foods in the palengke.

    Food is expensive depending on where you buy your food. Tip for you (if you can go there - every payday at the front of Quezon City Hall they have a bazaar of fruits, vegetables, fish, longganisa and other food items that is soooooo cheap. Some sell items in a bundle and you can get 6 mangoes for 100 pesos, lettuce bundle for 30 pesos, 2 really big cauliflower/broccoli bundle for 100 pesos etc. You can go there as early as 0900 am i think so that you can get the items really fresh!)

    Yeah it depends where you go and what ur getting. When I was visiting, I found out they have a place called S&R (here in the US it’s called Costco) and it’s good for bulk buying esp for a fam of 5, you might be able to get bulk things cheaper and you won’t have to shop as much cuz ur getting certain things in bulk that will last you a lil longer. And then yeah trying other places outside of where you live is gonna be way cheaper.
    If you guys are okay going to fruit & veggie stands instead, it’ll be cheaper and you can bargain and fresher stuff.

    Your groceries are expensive because you shop in premium supermarkets. Have you tried to buy your fresh food like meat and vegetables in the public market and in SM supermarket. Items in Landmark in Makati are priced cheaper than in BGC.
