  • Just a brief run-down on innocents. Nothing so glamorous as a guide, I just talk about their caps and some basics.
    The caps: 20 for Weapon Resists, 100 for Professionals, Elementals, and Ailments (resist and attack), 1900 for Mentor + Instructor, 300 for Manager + Broker, 900 for Statistician. Stat-boosters cap at 50,000 and you can have as many stacks as you want. Uniques can't be moved or boosted. Hopefully that helps some!
    Note: I was mistaken, you can use multiple stacks of Managers, upto 1900 (thanks to the Lone Outsider).

    It has been mentioned to me that these vids are a little long for just a basic aid, and I cannot deny it. I don't script out what I'm going to say because, frankly, these are basically spur-of-the-moment things. As I've said before, they aren't really guides so much as they are visual aids so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm doing it for you, but I'm also doing it for Usalia!
    This comment is for Usalia, too!

    Hey thanks for the guide. Sorry to hear you got complaints about it. I found it really helpful. I've been looking all over for good guides for the systems in this game, but they're almost impossible to find on CZcams. Everything is just playthroughs or in the case of the occasional guide, they're usually blowing through really fast doing post game stuff and assuming the viewer already understands the systems really well. I appreciate your explanation.

      @AngryIcecube  Před 8 lety

      Glad it helped! And yeah, that's a problem with the series in general: they say that the main story is just the tutorial, and that the real game doesn't start until post-game, and as a result they tend to focus on that. Which is great... IF you don't need help with some of the "lesser" stuff. Anyway, happy to help, and thanks for the feedback!

      I understand completely. I tried to load up my old save game to resume working on an item I was leveling up, and my brain just walked out on me. OF course, I've also got some health issues on top of all the content, which undoubtedly made things worse, but even back before I got sick, sometimes I'd just stare at the screen for long periods while I tried to form a plan and stick with it. I found that giving myself small goals helped. Small like "level up my sword 10 times" instead of something like "Max out my gear." Small steps are easier to see progress on and having that sense of achievement helps get me going! Good luck, hope you enjoy the game!

      Glad I could help. Think of them as power ups for your gear that you need to slap the shit out of to unlock, but due to the nature of the game, many of them are rendered less useful by late-game, since you'll be likely so powerful that defense and such won't even come into play. No need to block an attack when you can just one-shot the guy about to use it.the good news is, you can freely swap them around (except the green ones)

    @mapivosgaming Před 6 lety +4

    I have to agree with Raldor, this criticism is weird. I found this very very helpful. Disgaea 5 is massive, and I have no idea how to do anything to progress through the game, so this helped a ton. thank you! Would you recommend any other video guides or wikis that might help me traverse this game better?

    • @AngryIcecube
      @AngryIcecube  Před 6 lety +2

      Mr. Evil Bytes has a channel with some excellent videos on the how-to side of things. He's broken the game mechanics pretty thoroughly and explained things over on GameFAQS. As for the criticisms, most of them were coming from one guy in particular with an axe to grind, because he was spouting off a bunch of BS on the 'FAQS and I called him out on it. So he kind of went after me in some kind of vengeful crusade. He eventually went away when people ignored him so meh. At any rate, I'd definitely recommend Mr Evil Byte, he was one of the big specialists in the community. The one thing that helped me out the most, though, was to give myself definite goals that were specific, like "unlock Witch tier 3" instead of grander ones such as "Unlock all classes" because it's easier to see progress when the goal is just a short trip rather than 500 hours away. It also helps to familiarize you with the various mechanics and systems so that more advanced guides won't seem like they're written in Latin. but most important of all: HAVE FUN. Just because Expert 118 tells you to equip the ULTRA DEATH AXE on the MANDATORY SAMURAI PWNSTAR doesn't mean you can't use a Wind Spinner if you prefer it!

    • @mapivosgaming
      @mapivosgaming Před 6 lety +1

      AngryIcecube sorry about your troll. Glad he went away. I loved the way you explain things, so thank you. What’s the best goals to strive for? I feel like “beat the main campaign” is what comes first to mind. What else is there beyond that??

    • @AngryIcecube
      @AngryIcecube  Před 6 lety +3

      A common saying among fans is "the game doesn't start until post-game." In a way, the main campaign is just a tutorial to prepare you for the challenges that await after you beat the final boss.To handle them, you'll need stats that could be considered to be absolutely ridiculous. I'm talking doing BILLIONS of damage. But to get there, I would probably find a character you like.. If you just rush through the story, you'll more than likely slam into a brickwall when they start dropping some of the more difficult maps on you. To counter this, you take that one character, level its gear up in the item world (just a little bit), which also levels up your entire squad as well as gets you better quality gear from the bonus lists and such, in addition to Innocents (which further levels up your gear)... In this way, when you get to the later chapters, the sudden spike in difficulty isn't quite as abrupt as it would be, and you won't need to brute-force your way through. And even if you DO end up using brute force, it won't be quite as painful because you'll have a character stronger than what would be normal for someone who had just cleared maps and moved on without pausing for breath. Not to mention unlocking the higher tiers of classes means you have better skills available which opens up more options for handling those tough maps! of course, the end goal is UNLOCK EVERYTHING, but this way, you're doing it in manageable steps so it's way easier on your sanity. Because after all, if you can't one-shot a 20-star carnage world tyrant overlord with a thimble, well, WHY NOT!?

    • @mapivosgaming
      @mapivosgaming Před 6 lety +1

      AngryIcecube Amazing. Thank you so much for that. I like that idea of picking one character and focusing on building them. How do you add new skills to a character? And how do you find said skills to apply to a character

    • @AngryIcecube
      @AngryIcecube  Před 6 lety +2

      It has been a while since I played last, so i might be a little sketchy on details, but I seem to recall being able to get skill scrolls that will give a character a particular skill, like Fire or what have you. I believe you can get them from the quest board (randomly) or you have the option of going through the Chara World to make a scroll of one of your skills for another character to use as well. Then there are the skills you get from leveling up and raising weapon affinities. There's an NPC who can improve your skills for mana, but be careful because as a skill gets upgraded, the SP costs skyrocket. Oh, and before I forget, it's a good idea to have a spell-caster in your roster for long-range support, be it damage or healing. Never a bad idea to have someone who can pound a target from 8 or 9 tiles away. Some of the later maps don't pull any punches!

    This guide is very helpful thanks.. Quick question what's the best innocence for power leveling and maxing stats.. Thanks

    • @AngryIcecube
      @AngryIcecube  Před 4 lety

      Well, for over-leveling, i'd have to say the Statistician for the exp boost. For stats, though, it's really not the innocents themselves so much as it is the use of reincarnation, power shards and getting your classes mastered for all the bonuses they give you. Innocents are just icing on the cake, really. Oh, and can't forget the item world to really crack an item's stts open and make things REALLY ridiculous. But in the meantime, SINGLE stat innocents have a higher cap and effect on an item's growth, AS I RECALL (it has been a while since I actually looked into all the mechanics in-depth). Quick note: real powerleveling is something that's done near the end of the game; the stuff during the story is nowhere NEAR as fast. Not saying don't do it, but just a warning that when you finish the story you'll be amazed at how fast it can be to grind a few (thousand) levels!

    If it's difficult to understand: Can the cap of innocents be essentially bypassed by just putting capped innocents in every item a character is holding?

    • @AngryIcecube
      @AngryIcecube  Před 6 lety +1

      I can't really disagree, though I think it should fall to the devs to explain these things, but yeah, I didn't even really notice the stars for weeks.. that's pretty under the radar for a key mechanic to growth in a game. And it's becoming more of a trend these days.. too often it seems as though you're just supposed to somehow KNOW all these details, fresh out of the gate, and that's just negligent. Especially for games of this size. Imagine if a game like Civilization came out and they just decided to not included the Civlopedia and said "here ya go, figure it out." games are supposed to be fun, not frustrating... especially when the frustration comes from not being given basic information needed to play the game!

      Yes, a certain level of experience with the series is assumed (that's why it's more of a visual aid). Subdual is done through battle in the item world. Place a hostile innocent in an item, then go to the item world and complete floors until you encounter that innocent. Defeat it and it will be subdued (but not if an enemy defeats it). The farm is unlocked through gameplay.
