- Red ball okizeme is Kum Haehyun's main okizeme and mixup setup as it leads to big damage kick loops, which also leads back into another red ball! This guide covers a basic beginner 50/50 red ball mixup that is effective even against decent opponents.
Mastering the red ball is tough as there's so much you can do with it, so please feel free to ask questions in the comments section if you need help. Additional resources below for more info.

I dont even play Kum but my lawd this makes me happy to see people creating more stuff for people new to this game. Thanks for opening the gates for new players either coming from strive or elsewhere, this is sick!
Thank you so much! I'm just happy to see so many new players excited for Xrd 😊
@@yoomineltv Fr! Tbh this kinda makes me want to try Kum rn lmaooooo
Couldnt agree more
i know this video is over a year old by the time i'm watching it but this video and many others on your channel have seriously helped me learn Xrd way faster than i likely would've without them
Xrd has been sitting in my steam library for months im so glad i can finally play the game with other new players who will be coming in
Insane teaching skills! Waiting for that neutral guide, also hoping for a guide on Haehyun's Normals if that's not too much to ask :))
Thank you! I'll try to do a general move overview at some point :)
This is awesome,Definitely gonna try them out when rollback drops!
Awesome, thank you for showing the training setups for these too
Thanks for the guides. Could you please make a little 1-2 min video with Raven glide blockstring into sweep, dust and command grab(If you have time✌️)
I unfortunately do not play Raven so I can't make an accurate tutorial for him, sorry 😔
@@yoomineltv no Problem. Just gonna try finding it out my self 👍
I’ve been waiting for this 😈🙏
Because of the rollback adittion to the game, I'm giving it a try and I gotta say Kum looks incredibly fun to play, thanks for these guides!
Great video
Your videos are a godsend
Nice job
Great video !!
Amazing content! I'm looking to get into Xrd and these Kum guides are so concise and well done. Thank you for making them!
These videos are immensely helpful
nice
I can't remember where but I think I saw someone do a throw, go into redball oki, do another throw and combo off it. Is that a thing or am I misremembering?
Yes, throw is definitely an option you can go for! The ball control becomes a bit tricky if you'd like to combo off of the throw into the red ball hits as the ball comes back -- the only trick other than practice I can recommend for this is to make the ball hits as delayed as possible so that you have enough time to recover before comboing into an air combo (e.g. j.PSH) or shiinken in some cases, but it's much tighter.
@@yoomineltv ty for the info! Im definitely gonna lab this. btw are you still planning on making an advanced red ball mixup guide? I'm ready to learn some sick ass schmix
@@thatgoodstuff1986 yes I definitely would like to! I'd like to get more vids out soon but my computer is being replaced 😅 but I'm glad you found these vids useful!
@@yoomineltv Yeah these vids are great! They're partly why I got into rev 2 in the first place. Def lookin forward to the next guide!
Do the throw setups still work in the corner?
If the opponent is too close to the corner, I actually don't think it's even worth making a red ball as any reversal will catch Haehyun during recovery. Usually, the only thing you can do is jump or make a blue ball for oki. But as long as Haehyun isn't about to touch the corner, you should probably be safe enough to make a red ball like normal.
The hardest thing about corner red ball is the fact that the ball can fly off screen but still be present, so it's extra annoying to pilot it.
@@yoomineltv Good to know. Started playing Xrd today, was having trouble doing any kind of ball oki off of corner grabs. Good to know I’m not just bad. Do you think it’s generally more advantageous to give up the corner with a back throw for ball oki, or to keep the corner with weaker mix?
@@WhiteKnuckleRide512 It's honestly preference once you get comfortable with the character, but when starting out it's generally going to be the case that your corner damage and oki will be much weaker than midscreen as you don't have access to the standard kick loops. I actually don't recommend going for throws often in the corner as you just don't get much from them. I can try to cover corner options in a future video.
Do you have some reliable routes into IK?
i wanna be a dipshit in ranked
The easiest IK route is just hitting a 5D > 6 to trigger homing dash animation, and just mash RC and IK mode when you have 100 meter!
Otherwise, you can also do red kick RC > IK activation with 100 meter as well.
@@yoomineltv yeh, i've managed to get full grandpa viper into the corner, RC, land and activate into IK, but I was wondering if there were possible options meterless
like shinken loops are a possibility but haehyun kinda zoinks forward during the IK itself
@@TamagoGangan You can get gold IK activation with RCing if you get an airborne red 214K hit or CH red 214K hit. Some characters you can also just IK activate meterlessly off kick loop but it's not universal and pretty dependent on screen spacing.
@@yoomineltv i'm 10 months late and i've improved a bit
throw rc red hayabusa is my favorite confirm into IK :)
Xrd does seem like it has cool stuff in it, but things like everyone having different wake-up timing is kinda a weird one, I dont like having to learn character specific stuff, seems kinda sloppy
That's very valid! I honestly agree with you on this but I think it does add a *bit* of fun to oki setups. But I also would be fine without it lol
