I love Rick Moranis, I think SHF made the figure a little too tall though, he was a bit shorter in Space Balls wasn't he?
Both the helmet and the headsculpt look fantastic, soft goods skirt and anchor points for the cape would have made it a must buy for me.
I put the Mafex Rogue One Vader's cape on this. Very easy to do and it looks great.
ROTJ Vader is my favourite this figure is a must have awesome review
U should take a look at the mafex clone trooper, not many people have done reviews and I heard it was good!
I have this figure. I would like to note that the cape has not been an issue for me at all. Also the head moves ALOT better than he made it look. You can push it forward THEN move it all the way up and vice versa.
I think the Shaw sculpt that came with the ROTJ Luke is muuuuuch better than this one, at least in pictures.
I am with you pretty much all the way on this one. I bought this because that helmet sculpt is imo as close to perfect as anyone is going to get. But right out of the box, the cape aggravated me. Then it occurred to me (not sure why I didn't notice it before I bought it) that while the cape is cloth, the skirt is plastic. And the discrepancy bugs the hell out of me. Oh well. That gap above the belt bothered me too. But at least that disappears amidst the cape and skirt annoyance.
I see you've got the 02 Vader in the suspect lineup, but I think the sculpt on the 43 compares more favorably with the new SHF. Only problem is he's also based on the Rogue One design and has the stoles or w/e over top of the armor and no chain on the cape.
Vader should have had the same costume designer as the Incredibles, the no cape look is pretty awesome.
I used the cape from 40th Anniversary Vader. The cape isn’t sewed on.
Would you say this one blows the Mafex out of the water or it's at a comparable level? I remember back in the day, the Mafex was a solid option and my stand-in.
The problem with the Mafex is that it has an oversized helmet to accommodate the fully sculpted RotJ unmasking gimmick underneath, and the proportions look super weird as a result. SHF gets around this by just having a hole where Vader's brain interface circuitry would have been. The Rogue One version is solid, but lacks the chain (as it was absent in the film) and even for that, is inaccurate because the stoles are supposed to go over the armor in R1/ANH, and they're not. FWIW, I find both the Mafex ones to have the opposite of the "hourglass" problem with the SHF, where he looks pudgy instead because his abdomen is too barrel shaped.
