    Wow, I own this guitar too and can't believe it's been 14 years. It's been mostly in a case to preserve, but it was a super awesome guitar. Very Very VERY rare!

    Great review. Thanks for the Floyd heads up/ radius info. I’m good with this licensed version, but will definitely get a brass block.
    I really love this guitar, perfect for what I do & looks killer with this RG565 pickup combo ( H/S ) in a visual way, but not really.
    I’ve been wanting this guitar for years, but never found one. I seen one on OfferUp, contacted the seller & picked it up the next day.
    It seems he bought it with intentions on learning guitar, so it was almost mint when I picked her up. It is a bit odd that the bridge & locking nut are shiny chrome compared to the satin knobs & tuning pegs, but the orange flame top make the hardware aesthetics almost invisible.
    Fun guitar to play. Best $200 I spent, it plays like a more expensive guitar. I wouldn’t sell her, a definite keeper

    I had this guitar for a couple of years. Took 3 to get one that wasn't damaged. I completely agree with you about the sound. It was awesome for funky, spanky stuff, as well as shred buffoonery, but I dind't like the colour, neck profile, etc., so I sold it. I recently bought an Ibanez RG565 with the same pickup configeration, and I intend to get to that sound again as closely as possible. It has a basswood body though. Let's see.

    I love this guitar. I have had mine for about 10 years now and I always get compliments on the sound at gigs. I agree it’s a very biting guitar tone (in a pod way) and it’s actually the loudest pickup in a guitar I’ve ever had lol. Pickup position 2 has been my secret as well lol. Can definitely get some country tones out of it and that very unique spank. One of the reasons I never wanted to sell it is because I’m afraid I’ll never be able to get that number two position out of any other guitar lol. Great video thanks for posting! đŸ€˜đŸ€˜đŸ€˜

      @@EricBourassa Right on. Glad to hear you like the guitar! I shold have bought two when they were $500 lol. I will defintitely keep my eyes out for GH-5 pickups on the used market. As far as the #2 position it will probably take a good forensic deep dive into the back cavity and try to sus out the wiring not my specialty. Maybe ask Greg for the secret to the wiring? 😉

    Oh God, I've been looking for this guitar for so long. Still have had no luck (and since I live in South America it's quite complicated to find one), but once there was someone selling it on a marketplace here, so it might just be a matter of luck to find one in due time

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  Pƙed rokem +1

      I can’t imagine trying to get one of these shipped to South America or even finding one locally. But keep an eye out, there’s bound to be one that pops up again đŸ€˜

    I have this guitar for about 7 years now, feels like I'm the only one in my country to owe one haha
    It's so nice to see such an informative and interesting video about it! it's the first time I encounter such detailed video about this guitar, and I really learned a lot!
    I actually thought about selling it lately, just to vary my equipment, but this video kinda makes me think twice about this decision 😄
    Any chance you can elaborate about the "sort of made in America"? I'd really like to hear some information about it.
    I know some of them have an Indonesian label behind the headstock, but mine says "designed and crafted in the USA". Is it not? 😅
    Very cool video man. Thanks a lot!

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  Pƙed rokem +1

      don't sell it!!!
      most of the parts are shipped from overseas, then they put together the guitar in USA.
      The "made in Indonesia" guitars were fully assembled in Indonesia

    Hey man, I'm considering getting one (second-hand, great condition) these days.
    Just to be sure, does the floyd actually HAS to be replaced ? I've head that the Laguna licensed is made by Schaller and is very robust.

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  Pƙed rokem +1

      you don't have to replace it. I just did it because Greg recommended it to me. If you DO replace with Floyd, it has to be set up for flatter fretboard which was a huge pain for me

      @@EricBourassa Hmm I see, quite a dilemma. Thanks for your very honest opinion, couldn't find a single good review of this guitar I'm glad I found your channel, killer stuff dude !

  • @blessedheavyelements8544
    @blessedheavyelements8544 Pƙed rokem +1

    Yep, #2 is highly unusual. It's like a +20db boost with a touch of OD to a usual Strat #2. Equivalent to a Trombone blat. Done with Floyds. I have wo Ibanez SA460's I need to sell with them. I sold 2 guitars I regret to this day. To the point of missing them. :( Glad you dodged the bullet :)
    Thought: If you have the time, can you make a 1-2 min vid every day-ish? Doesn't have to be much at all. Maybe a tip/trick on a Floyd (đŸ€ź), quirk on another guitar, a shred tip for newbies. Anything to get your videos out and get the algorithm working for you. Right now, it "seems" you are in a rarified area of the polar plot. High end guitars and fast playing/shred/advanced. That's a small audience for the algorithm to recommend you to. I don't know anything but this occurred to me.
    Always a pleasure Sir. Best Regards and Best Wishes!

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  Pƙed rokem

      Yeah that #2 position is something special. And I hear you on being done with Floyds.
      And thanks for the tip. I will work to increase video frequency đŸ€˜
