  • One thing I find really interesting with the Fender Rhodes, there are so many preamps designed for it. Here is another one, this one features some standard features, though the ability to change the position of the mid, allows for a wah-wah effect. Also the preamp has balanced outs, which I forgot to cover, but that is really cool and shows how this is aimed as professional, (if the RRP price didn't already hint at that already, but the features are of that level also).
I am really impressed with how this preamp feels, the range of the controls cover enough to be functional but not too much to be a hinderance.
I have recently got my hands on this MK7 Rhodes suitcase piano. I thought it would make an interesting series of videos looking at this piano and getting it looking and playing as it should be.
The first time I heard about this piano was in the rules of a forum stating not to mention this piano. Googling around at the time, there was almost no information about this piano at all. It is also interesting that some specialist websites do not mention this piano at all in the history of the electric piano even now.
The odd forum post I did find about this piano, seemed to be more speculation than fact or first hand experience. My goal here is to shine some light on this as a product and help reduce any speculation, maybe it will help other owners to get the most of the piano.

Your f above middle C needs adjusting. Its giving no fundimental just pure harmonics

It's what's I need for almost every rRhodes sound i get into my desk at FOH. A slight & broad dip around 500hz to make it sit in the mix. Makes sense to have the option in the preamp to cut or boost that midrange depending on the setting (genre, band composition, song etc).
