      Thanks dude, a lot of work went into it. Repainted them twice haha but finally settled on a recipe that I'm really happy with. They look even better in person.

    I would recommend nitrile rubber gloves, maybe even respirator rated for chemicals or even fume hood. And mixing larger batches of resin poses a slight risk of self ignition of the mixture.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! I appreciate to health and safety warning. Always important. I use gloves 95% of time time and also a respirator. I have a nice one for my airbrushing. The self combustion tends to only happen when an exothermic reaction takes place - mixing up bigger batches. From experience a small batch for a few molds is fine. If mixing up large amounts then you are probably gonna need specialist resin for deep pours

    impressive Bases! You are totally right that the white texture base is an awesome effect for the crystals, make them literally pop.
    I think it's possible to integrate small LED-Lights with Power supply in the bases of big models. In this way you could create real glowing crystals.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! The white base showing through was a happy accident but I love it. I toyed with the idea of adding lights but real light against painted light always make the paint look dull. It can never compete with real light. But fear not, I have a project in the wings where led lit crystals may feature. Doing some tests with micro leds for fireflies. 👍✌️

    The turquoise is a nice contrast to the reddish earth. And crystals are somehow a must when basing Necrons, that's just science...
    I've been thinking about getting a few necron models and making some waterlogged, tarnished, rusty and corral crusty bronze boys lumbering out of the depths on some forsaken jungle world, just so my orks and stranded black templars have some more play buddies, so stumbling across your channel is coming in clutch, that pyramid build is positively tantalizing :)

      Nice dude! I have to admit my mini necron project started with humble hopes but after repainting them twice I am really happy with how everything turned out. They look great in person. And yes, my chaos space marines needed some play things to fight against haha 👍

    Hi, fellow crafter here. A little tip, if you go over your crystals once they have fully cured, with clear resin, it will make them pop so much more. 😊

      Yeah me too. Sprees can look great when painted up nicely but I wanted them to look like crystals with a bit of transparency. It worked really well, albeit a lot of effort for simple bases haha

    Very good video, very neat idea.
    I'm looking for inspiration for SciFi terrain (got back into 40k lately), and this idea is actually great and may be incorporated into future terrain and basing.
    Actually got the same Resin colors quite a while ago too, still haven't used them, so now I got a reason to finally try them out. They look really vibrant in the ads , and since you achieved such a nice look with only a few drops, it seems like they weren't lying, which is quite fascinating since they're pretty cheap (10-12€ for 18 colors in my country).
    Since you're always doing great and inspiring terrain videos, have you ever considered trying to do (or add) Hesco barriers? It feels kinda odd that they seem to be a pretty popular security device, but somehow you never see them used in any builds.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  Před 2 lety +1

      I love the idea of hesco barriers. I will build some haha. I guess is because they are very current rather than futuristic but that wouldn't explain the heavy use of barbed wire. And yeah the resin tints are great. But very translucent in nature.

    • @RinoGato
      @RinoGato Před 2 lety

      @@creativecuts7803 Glad to hear it.
      Yeah, it kinda feels weird that we see it as a current defensive structure rather than a futuristic one, meanwhile we just use sandbags, dragons teeth, barbed wire and all that other oldschool stuff without giving it a second thought. But then again, it's the rule of cool, so we go with it.
      And thanks for the further information on the tints.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  Před rokem +2

      Haha see the reply to your other comment.... amazon. Sold as an arts and crafts thing. It was quite hard to find a smallish on but after realising that if I catch the resin 75% cured then it slices like butter with a sharp knife so small crystal can be found in a larger mold too. Good luck

    Why not just keep the natural dirt/rock instead of priming over it? I'm really new to this and I've never understood people painting over the natural covers just to go back trying to paint it to look like natural dirt/rock.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  Před 2 lety

      Hey Donny, we all were new to this at some point. I know it can be a little confusing at first. You don't have to paint the dirt/soil at all. Nature provides amazing colour variation and nearly impossible to really reproduce in all its glory. However, if you use lots of different materials you may want a uniform finish so painting is the way to go. You also don't need to paint a surface fully, a simple colour shift ( maybe you want something darker). I have found I get the best results using a combination of approaches. Painted ground with natural elements on top. Hope that helps a little but always feel free to reach out if you have more questions 👍
