- This is my breakdown of bluey Blue Mountains and the theory on why its the weirdest/creepiest/most forgettable episode of bluey. Also we have all the video game references, Australian breakdowns of the locations and slang as well as other easter eggs!

I am a big fan of bluey and with season 3 airing in Australia, I thought I would do a breakdown of every episode with a small review, some spoilers, and any bluey theories that might pop up. Bluey season 1 and 2 hit disney plus two months after airing in Australia so hopefully, all of season 3 will be out for everyone soon!

I wish they could use little toys than hands on Bandit, so it would be cuter, and innocent and probably it wouldn't be so gross.
I think I like the Hands better, because if it were a dolls/toys, it would be harder to move them and look realistic or something like that but it’s just my opinion

Honestly with the googly eyes and props, the hands pass off as toyish and it doesn’t click instantly that it’s their hands unless you think deep enough

I honestly didn't dislike this episode, I thought it was pretty charming, I don't see the animation as unsettling as everyone else said it was. Now the close-up of the Health Inspector's mouth from the Nasty Patty episode from SpongeBob did (and it still does) creeped me out more than Bandit's close-up mouth, it just felt more tamer than the way how SpongeBob portrayed it
It’s interesting to me that many think of this as the weakest, when it does have more creativity than multiple other episodes in season 1, like Grannies (my least favorite because of how dull and *actually* unimaginative it is) and Chickenrat, which has no rewatch value because of its pacing and lack of humor
@@etienneleroi9515 I do wish that grannies had an original concept with its dancing in it, I didn't even bother finishing that episode considering how outdated it was. And Chickenrat was just one of those mid episodes

A thought on the hand faces: Maybe the girls don't have to redraw the faces because they have such strong imaginations. Chili is maybe being literally creative, but not imaginative. Just an idea!
Maybe I’m the strange one, but I never saw this episode as too weird to like. Granted it has its weird moments but I thought all in all it was alright

Yeah, it is a good episode and I think it's really cool how they use the hands format for a story.
I had no idea people thought it was _creepy,_ that doesn't make any sense to me. It looks cute! It's definitely a good episode.
There's also the fact that Bandit suddenly has pores and his nose suddenly has nostrils
that's just because it's closer up. that happens in cartoons; generally the closer the more detail, the farther away the less detailed.

It is! People think that this gross and creepy, when it's really just realistic. I know there are a lot of people who wouldn't play on their friend of family's tummy or something, but Bluey and her family does.
I also didn't think that this episode was boring at all... I am used to the unrealistic arms extending and stuff because of the other shows I've watched, honestly I can't believe people say this is the "worst" episode 😂
Again, I don't think it's boring, it isn't aaaaaas interesting as other episodes, and what Margie said about it being in a more imaginative way, but I think this episode was just an experiment with styles and to try the hand character styles. That might be why it isn't _as_ interesting.
It's a more casual episode with a style that stands out.
But it isn't a _not good_ episode, it's good, just not not good, and not bad.

"Oh no people don't play on others tummies!", yes because you know every family and know everything everyone does. Its not that big of a deal. Kids want to have fun sometimes, which means they might do some weird stuff. But as long as it dosent hurt anyone, it should be fine. Bandit wasn't getting all mad either

I just don't like how Bandit's snout goes down in the close-ups, but then it's his jaw normally. If they just animated it with the jaw not being on the neck and his snout moving, instead they did it so only the jaw moved, I probably wouldn't hate this episode as much, or possibly at all!

Eh, I think they were just trying out a new little style for this episode, not to use it for more but just experiment around and have fun with what you can do without being in the realm of not physical.
I actually like it, myself, at least.
I thought the long/flexible arms were weird, but not distractingly so. I don't consider this one my least favorite or anything. It's not my most favorite either. I hadn't even connected Chili's comment about sisters with her relationship with her own sister, and it's possible that the writers hadn't even imagined Chili's sister yet at this point; they may well have just been referring to Bluey and Bingo, which of course is also touching.
You know, the way you say "cheeky dogs" always reminds me of this episode's "I think he's a cheeky fox."
I think its a great idea for an episode, it just wasn't executed as well as similar episodes like the one where the girls are chasing their parents and it's animated with crayon drawings.
I thought the episode was very cute and fun, far from what most viewers think but hey I like it. I even made fan art based off of The Blue Mountains by crossing over Sky: The Children of Light, with Bluey characters getting Sky outfits and make it beautiful, whimsical and pretty.

I think I have a theory on why bluey and bingo didnt "redraw" their characters. I think its bcos the girls are more focused abt the story rather than logci, so they forget to re draw but the reason we see the mouths change is bcos we're watching through bluey and bingos pov where they imagine the mouths already re drawn
I was so uncomfortable when they show bandits paws and claws up close 😬

3 out of five. I believe the change of artstyle in that episode was kinda experimental, but sadly it resulted in being a little bit uneasy to watch and a bit scary for kids.

I kinda liked blue mountains! The lesson of being a big sister is really good but I’ll say the close ups and animations were a bit dodgy. But as an older sister to four little siblings I’d approve of this episode!
“Fella” is pretty common in America. It’s a little older and you’ll see people using it in older movies but it’s kind of like a country slang
It's far far far from the worst episode MiniBluey is a horrible episode and it's somehow liked by some people (Bandit makes Bluey think she isn't wanted in the family and ignores her when she runs away crying)

that whole episode was basically just bandit and chilli asking bluey why she can't be more like bingo then neither of them going to comfort bluey after bandit makes the comment ("I could get used to this"). like its cute seeing a mini version of bluey and a bigger version of bingo but the way bandit and chilli were in that episode was really.....
If Bingo kept saying "Hey, Listen!" over and over...

I accept they more or less don't have finger bones or limits on arm length. Bandit's arm was as long as it needed to be for magic claw, and unicorse (which I saw before this episode) shows he has VERY dexterous fingers. This episode is just really forgettable. Though I like the sly look on fox-bandit's face
Maybe it's forgettable if you have a certain perspective on it, but it definitely is not forgettable to me, because of the order in which I watched the episodes and seeing the pictures on Disney+.
@@eglol I do prefer silly episodes like this over episodes more focused on teaching a lesson or the more emotional ones. I just really forgot this one exists but I forget season 1 almost entirely. (Season 2 is my favorite)
The more recent one with chilli's mom seemed like blue mountains 2.0
I feel like most people just Listen and repeat what other people have to say. Its like if someone says something is bad its automatically terrible. We shouldn't have to feel as if having our own opinion on an episode is wrong. I personally really like this episode and I think that it is in absolutely not creepy. I am not trying to offend anyone, but I feel like most of the time people never have their own opinion in bluey . Just my opinion .
I feel like not showing the girls drawing the faces is just explained by Chili doing it. They just cut it as a visual shorthand. (Pun intended haha.)
I'm also not particularly bothered by the mouth thing or how they're playing at all, but what definitely gets me the most is how the hands are animated and how the joints bend unnaturally (backward or too rubber hose when the show is so grounded otherwise.) Agreed for sure that it's a little disturbing. I'm glad they tried something new though.

It was one of the first ones I saw and I really liked the change of perspective it made between reality and history. I don't know why they find it boring, but it's okay, Tina bores me despite being an episode that is very loved by the public

I did think this episode was weird the first time I saw it. And, although it is a little bit boring compared to how funny Bluey episodes usually are, I still like it because it’s a unique type of episode that I’ve never seen done before in another show.

Are you kidding me? This is the worst episode? This is a clever episode showing how kids use their imagination to play. The bit about the overly flexible fingers on the paws is clearly meant to be interpreted as the kids using their imaginations (like how we imagined that our My Little Pony was actually moving and talking rather than just being clunked around on the floor). Doesn't anyone remember what it was like actually playing imagination-heavy games as a kid? You'd act out your little bit with your toy, then there would be a scene change needed or your playmate would need to be made aware of the next step in the game's storyline. So you'd pause to change the doll's dress, or pick up the car so you could put the doll inside, comb its hair and get it set up right, or you'd give the other kids instructions about what was going to happen next. But that scene change stuff didn't count as "in the game", and we paid no attention to the man behind the curtain. The little hand-puppet play we see in the Blue Mountains episode is mostly what the Heelers are counting as "in the game". Except for the bit with Chilli and the pen, and Bandit's googly eye falling off, the behind-the-scenes work isn't shown because kids mentally filter that all out to keep themselves immersed. This episode shows a great depth of understanding of how kids play. I wonder if all those people who say it's boring just don't remember what it was like to play as a child, and/or don't actually watch their kids very closely as they play. Or don't play with their kids. Or just simply lack imagination and need every detail spoonfed to them otherwise it's "boring".
4 out of 5 longdogs is my rating. This isn't top tier like Sleepytime or Onesies or Tradies or those ones. But it's really quite good. Ones like Housework, Backpackers or Shops (where everyone is just killing time and nothing happens) are waaaaay worse than this.
I’ll argue for Shops here, as it does have great music and fun character interactions, which are two things missing from Blue Mountains
But of course, this episode ain’t bad! I love when Bluey tries different art styles! If Grannies had been in a unique style, it certainly wouldn’t be my least favorite

I loved this episode! Saw a clip on youtube and had to go see the full thing.
It's so cute and funny. Animation was weird but different in a fun unique way. I thought it was so cool how they made characters out of their hands and used such creative imagination to have fun. Bluey and Bandit made me laugh so much in this one! I don't care how Bandit's hand got a nose and tail. I just loved how he played it! Hilarious!
And the lesson learned is very important (stranger danger) and sweet in the end.

Too many people are taking it too serious like they're some film critic. Nip picking about Bandit's body scale and proportion? I don't think most kids (or adults) notice or care really. The long arms to me is more of a perspective kind of thing. Like if I was an ant looking up. Everything is bigger and longer because it's a funny cartoon. Besides, kids perspective is very different. It's often exaggerated in a very unrealistic kind of way. Like the Rugrats show! Perfect example of how kids may see things through their playful lens versus adults with our logic and common sense of things.
Besides, when did this show needed to be realistically accurate though? They're all talking walking dogs living like humans. lol That's perfectly okay but God forbid they're animated in an unrealistic way for a moment then it's the worse episode ever.

Stop coddling your kids too. Let them sweet babies see that not all things are scary. I'm sure most kids didn't even make a fuss but its the fanatic parents projecting. Sure they may have been caught off guard with the hand in the mouth or the nose plug. I was! lol
Like I can see kids being bored by this episode but SCARED??? If your kids are scared by this episode, you have failed as a parent.
And being grossed out at Chili putting her hands in Bandits mouth?? Like as if all you moms don't touch or wipe anything more disgusting with your own bare hands! (Saw my sister wiped her daughter's runny booger infested nose with her bare hands without washing like its nothing!)
Just use that episode as a teaching lesson that you cannot mimic everything you see and that it's just pretend. Bluey is not a show that is made to raise your kids. You still have to parent by teaching and guiding them. Because nothing and no one is perfect.
Making out with your partner is actually more unsanitary than putting your hand in their mouth. Besides, if you're married, everything that comes out of your husband is often gross okay. Men are generally more gross than us but we still love them and will touch them without any hesitation. TMI here but if my hubby was in an accident and needed me to wipe his butt, I wouldn't even hesitate. You people are weird...
I find the episode where Bandit spilled gravy on himself and had sweaty armpits more gross! And Chili still wanted a kiss! lol
And nobody complained about Bandit peeing on his foot being gross but this is where some of you guys draw the line? Come on now...

We enjoy it as is, at face value. I come here for a deeper "adult" take and meanings. Just chill and have fun people.
Not every episode have to out do the last. It's like we are somehow used to these amazing iconic cinematic Oscar worthy type episodes that they now have to out do themselves or else its pure trash. People need to stop anticipating the next episode will have them running for the tissue box or be life changing in some way. It could just be fun. Plain simple fun.
All shows have the "bad" ones but you still enjoy it as a whole because it's your favorite show or you just love the characters and relate to them.
Smile and appreciate the hard work someone put in for you. It may not be perfect but it's still worthy. :)

In the US we have tiny pancakes too, we just call them 'silver dollar pancakes' or something in most places. We also use the word 'fella' in some states. :)

First of all, I never noticed the animation error so that’s new. Second of all, I think
that the googly eyes and marker smiley face is cute, but one scene that never made
any sense was when Chilli(hand puppet) was eaten by the cave(Bandit’s mouth) as caves don’t really
gobble you up. I also noticed a theory that you probably wouldn’t believe and that is that Bingo is flexible as she is able to spin her hand in one complete circle without any hesitation.
I never knew that the Blue Mountains was a real thing in Australia and that this BLUE MOUNTAINS episode could be a movie, which is why I give it two out of five long dogs. What do you think, Margie??
The cave closing could have been a reference to Disney’s Aladdin. The cave of wonders in Aladdin closes. Also other action adventure style movies have caves that close or collapse.

Honestly, it’s not a BAD episode, there’s worser ones like sleepy time and verandah santa, but I mean it’s only finger puppets, people are so scared of finger puppets, I don’t like this episode, it’s not creepy or anything, but I’d rate it 2.6/5 long dogs, as it is a pretty cool idea of a bluey episode and the setting is kinda cool. And the lesson is to have fun while being safe and to not trust strangers. It’s a good lesson for kids who don’t know how to stay safe,I think this episode should get more attention.

@@etienneleroi9515 Agreed, Sleepytime especially. That's the episode I constantly see lorded as the best in all of Bluey. It's not my favourite, but I still love it and can see why it's the favourite.

This is gross, but Bluey has always been my favorite after Paw Patrol and Glee.
i thought it was pretty adorable, but that maybe just because it reminded me of how i would play with my hands as well. i made it walk on 4 fingers tho, and the middle finger was a long neck. and sometimes i drew a face on it. for whatever reason i called it ladybug, i have no idea why. i think i mostly played this on my own tho, while i played with toys with my siblings, i played with my hand creature on my own when i didnt have any other entertainment, like when i was supposed to do homework
Also, would be a little weird because if their fingers are their hands with their Like their arms have hands in with their hands have arms to like well they just like keep playing that way

I remember the first time I saw this episode and I thought it was really clever to have the whole landscape be their dad, but I didn’t find the story particularly captivating and I personally never wanted to watch it again. It’s were Chilly’s hand gets eaten when the sound effect is playing while it sounds like hand is talking in there but how dose Chilly make that sound? Her hand can’t talk. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE???!!!
I found this episode great! but i really wish they used normal toys!! but since that’s really what they had at that point, i see why, but chilli should of known to not use her hands, so, i wish chilli would tell the kids to not use there hands!

I liked the fact that they tried a different concept, though in the end the hand puppets are just so static, which makes it rather dull to watch compared to basically everything else of the show. Like usually there are so many little background details and many rather subtle movements of the characters and stuff. Where this episode naturally falls flat, as the hand puppets just can't pull that off, and the stage for it all is just plain old Bandit.
I don’t like how bandit Is Creepy in mouth
This episode was definitely a hit or miss for the studio. They experimented with a different style of story-telling using the hands and for some, it was good, for others it wasn't as well received. It's not my favourite episode, sitting in my top 5 least favourites. However the moral is really good and I wonder if the studio could try to use said moral again in a later episode without it being too redundant (and mainly because many skip the episode).
Animation-wise, I didn't really mind the hands. I thought it was charming but it does get boring quite fast due to the lack of backgrounds. I like the extra details on Bandit for the background but it honestly just makes his body feel ridiculously long after a while.
Story-wise, loved the moral of it. It resonated with me as a little sister myself (and also as an older cousin and having to look for my younger cousins from time to time). The pacing could have been better to not have it feel long and dragged out. I did not expect the mouth scene and it is a little creepy, so it is highly understandable that little kids would not like this episode.
I give this episode a 1.5/5 long dogs.
Other potential episodes the studio could go with for a similar moral episode could be:
An episode focusing on Rusty, Dusty and Digger. We already know Rusty loves to take care of his little sister and he could be overly protective while Digger could be the overly chill "fun" bigger brother who accidentally lets Dusty do dangerous things for little kids.
It could be a school episode where the kids are playing family or something and Calypso is the one to come in and give the moral of the story.
Bluey and Bingo at the park and Bandit/Chili isn't paying attention, Bluey is a little careless which ends up in Bingo getting a little injured (stumbling on her feet, falling from monkey bars, etc). Bluey gets scolded and is then overly protective, which would then frustrate Bingo.
