  • Original video was taken down, figured I would reupload this video and give myself a little more time for the next one coming out in a few days.
    I probably butchered so many of the different boss names and gear names so hopefully you didn't cringe too hard. Also, don't take this video as my spouting hate for destiny 2, I really just wanted to talk about how strike specific loot is one of my favorite things about destiny 1.

    I definitely liked D1 strikes better. Farming for the specific loot and random rolls made it fun to me. Something about strikes in D2 just makes them insignificant. I don’t ever do them and haven’t for some time.

  • @ExtraordinaryFate

    If they brought strike specific armor back, it’d make D2 strikes perfect. They’re much better strikes, they just lack any good rewards which in turn makes them worse

    The sad part is Destiny 2 USED to have a system for Strike specific loot (At least for weapons), but for some dumb reason they canned it and now it’s just the system we have now, which isn’t nearly as interesting.
    We really do need to return to the system from D1.

      I believe bungie has stated that it was hurting new player numbers. Since someone would join a random strike, be one that doesn't have loot they want and just go to orbit. Meanwhile the blueberries are confused and can lose interest. (I don't really have an opinion on this topic just saying what they have said)

      @@karson2022 Which is annoying because they could have added weapons and gear to strikes to give them reasons to go after.

    All the first handful of strikes was Epic even before star by being masterfully briefed by the Vangard high command, Valus, Aksor, Phogoth, the Frayers and Sekrion, my two favorites Valus and Aksor

    D1 strikes had actual mechanics in them; in D2, health gatekeeping the boss is the only mechanic Bungie knows
    Plus the narratives were also cooler and more mysterious, I wish they brought back the dialogue intros while flying in
    And specific loot definitely needs to return asap, shit was wild and epic

    I forgot how unique strikes were in Destiny 1, not just because of the gear, but because the mechanics felt different compared to D2 strikes. The bosses too

  • @LordEmpyreal
    @LordEmpyreal Před 10 měsíci

    D2 had strike specific loot back in Forsaken. They shifted over to more generic weekly Nightfall loot later on.
    Warden's Law, D.F.A., etc. None of it was armor though, instead some were Ghosts, Ships, or Sparrows.

    Man, I really miss my Grasp of Malok. Mine had Headseeker and Glass Half Full aka High Impact Reserves.
    That gut just felt right in my hands and it would be a lowkey monster in PvP, because why bother trying to activate the damage perks, when they activate by just using it.

    Found the video again, I know you are a smaller channel, but I really hope someone with some power at bungie sees this. For almost a year now I have been wishing I could go back and play D1 just for this reason alone. Bosses felt cool and dynamic. And the loot felt like you accomplished something. Now it feels like their version of difficulty is annoying health bars, endless ads, and nerfing any viable weapon of armor that stands out as good.

    With the way Destiny is monetized now, it seems strikes will not get much attention. The strike playlist is free, so not expecting any real investment or innovation there.

    Also d1 strikes had less down time in mission. I hate killing adds then running for 2 min or jumping or any other dumb thing they put in to stretch it out. D1 was just run and gun . And the loot

    Over all yes Destiny 1 has a very different vive like truly epic that have been gradually getting lost as Bungie has gotten kind of contaminated with some nowadays common practices in the entertainment industry.

    I personally think that adding all the battlegrounds and stuff they are adding into the strike playlist is a good thing, been playing destiny forever and I gatta say that I have never once felt a single bit of joy from a strike, other than in D1 from one of these dropping. Bringing them back could help save strikes but idk, strikes are a super repetitive activity that I don’t even wanna do more than once usually

  • @Nexuish
    @Nexuish Před 10 měsíci +1

    I think we keep missing the forest for the trees when comparing D1 and D2 strikes.
    Strike specific loot was definitely a good hook, especially for the unique armor pieces and weapons.
    However, the thing that made D1 strikes better were their pacing and length. Strikes weren’t very long and they mostly lacked extended traversal segments between encounters. D2, on the other hand, has loooong strikes with 0 reason to run one over the other. Lake of Shadows was popular because you could speed run it, doing twice as much grind in the same amount of time.
    Again, strike specific loot is definitely a bonus, and should return regardless of whatever excuse Bungie uses to not do it, but D1 strikes being more action-focused is what made them better imo

    Honestly this would be pointless in D2 considering transmog is in the game. If they were to do this it'd have to be weapons only.
