  • When you’re playing a group of songs in a worship set, an important thing to consider are the transitions between those songs. But songs are in different keys, different tempos, different moods altogether, so how to you craft smooth transitions to help your worship sets flow?
    This video covers:
    1. Why it’s important to spend time crafting smooth transitions in your worship sets
    2. Creating flow by keeping some songs in the same keys
    3. Making transitions smooth by choosing relative keys (circle of fifths)
    4. Using a drum intro to making changing keys easier
    5. Finding commonality between songs to make transitions better

When I was in a choir and a few vocal ensembles in college, our director always reminded that people remember the first and the last notes. I feel that is a pretty great way to sum it up and stresses the importance of a good transition in the set! Thank you for the video

This is a great way to start learning some transitions. You never go wrong with playing in the same keys or same speeds. Go to a brotha from anotha motha church and forget it, that's a different ball game. Which one is better to "create a smooth transition"? BOTH OF THEM. I would encourage all worship leaders to get out and go to that "different" type of a church so as to learn and open up your mind to the various possibilities. Great video and insights.

Being a bass player for over 4 decades I have stressed many times to the band how crucial it is to have the start and ending of the song right! Song transitions are critical to ebb and flow of praise and worship!

One of both worship teams in my church did a good transition between a song in Disco Rock Style and another one in Bluegrass Style. Worked perfectly

Oh man they are amazing. I have been three times for worship connect and bring as many of my team members as possible. My only complaint is it's not long enough. I have been to NWLC multiple years and I like sweetwater better I think. They both have pro/cons but I really like it.
