Joey: HOW DO I KNOW THESE THINGS???
Me: Sir you're a producer
HE'S A PRODCER NOT B TO THE FUCKING ST ........BTS R ALWAYS UNIQUE!!!!!! NO ONE KKNOWS WHATS NEXT
Probably in the studio...
Joon: So what are we thinking genre wise? Between trap, gospel, R&B, hip hop, and band.
Yoongi: *Yes*
One of my favourite of the more well known songs of BTS! The musical production is just too much genius! The whole MV is fire as well!!! Props to everyone involved - BTS, the music producers, choreographers, backup dancers, support staff!!!!
joey: *stops at yoongi*
joey: they have so much swag
lmao there couldn't be a more perfect timing
Check out BTS "on" Commentary Film: Dialogue, a little behind the scenes for the music production. They had a choir and a college band record most of the stuff. Video was filmed on top of the LA Dam
Yes I had to make sure someone commented that he has to check out Dialogue. Hope he does 🙏🏾
“Sorry for the smoke detector going off in the background, I live next to wiz Khalifa” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I honestly want to like this comment so bad cause you're the first one i see to say that after watching this, but the holy number has reached the like button before i did so 😂
"I'm getting going to church vibes, are we taking them to church?"
No. BTS is taking EVERYONE to church.
After every Joey NATO reaction, I reach for my headphones immediately to listen to the things he described. Like, I didn’t even pick up on the choir (though as suggested by some of you, I’ve seen the commentary). Joey’s commentaries always make me appreciate how skilled music producers have to be to elevate a song. Thanks!
THIS IS THE LEAD SINGLE SKSJSKSJ they will just be dropping another mv for it in a week that's it 👏
EDIT : THE NEW MV IS OUT NOW AND IT'S SO GOOOOOD. PLEASE STREAM IT 💜
@@High_Exotic check bighit's twitter.... The whole album is already out.
The lead single is ON and it has two mvs, one of them is the kinetic manifesto film that's already out, and the other one will be out on Feb 28 :))
Taehyung's face says " the shadow like me" if you wanted to know Joey😃
Jin: "Find me and I'm gonna live with ya"
Sasaeng fans: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
BTS can, and will, sing this without autotune. They don't need a machine to fix their vocals. If they used it here it's for effect. (They did the same in black swan, and then did it live without it)
Lady Sugarquill exactly and it sound even better you know your stuffs
Just watched them perform live in Korea and I already knew they would sound great love but omg did they sound amazing! Literally they sounded amazing live while dancing 😍
YEAH, in their documentary they talk about that "gospel vibes". Was a live band and a choir from New Orleans!!!
Joey's house might be burning down, but he's got to know what's on V's face.
Yoongi has a natural swag to him. Doesn't even have to try. He just doesn't give a UGH! No matter if he is on camera, on stage or when he deals with annoying reporters asking inappropriate qustions at press conferences... And his cypher verses are one of the reasons he became my bias. Whenever I need a boost of confidence I count on him to lend me some. 😊
Joey: “LoOk AT mY HaND”
I choked 🤣🤣😭
Wow it's so fascinating to me how I literally hear many things only after you point them out
I think people that do your job can enjoy music in totally different way and that makes me want to learn more, so thank you for these reactions!
I was thinking the same thing! I would NEVER have caught any of the things he points out. Then when he does I have to go back and listen, and it's like - wow, that was there.
I used to go to a music school for some singing lessons when I was younger, and all the teachers in that school are phenomenal. When you see them interacting with each other, talking about music, it's just something else. Most of them know how to play 3 or more instruments (at least at a basic level), and they also know about music theory and production. When they jam together or talk about a song they are composing or arranging they don't even talk sometimes. They just make an imperceptible sound (at least to me) or add something else to the production and the other ones go like "uh, that's right" or "woah okay" or just a small chuckle 😂
They literally communicate through music and it's just so amazing to watch.
@@kwm1013 exactly! Sometimes he's like "ooh wow that's a crazy cord progression right there" and I'm like what- haha I can't hear anything
@@ablindinglightthatnolonger8379 that's amazing! Yeah it's a whole language and unless you have studied you can't really get it
@@danas388 that's why an elaborate piece of music or listening to professionals talking about music never stops to amaze me in the best way possible. Yeah its true
Different tones
That why this Comeback of BTS is different.
I love their voice.
The rapline is so savage Especially Jhope
Suga rap and Rm rap is so damn gooddd
Jk high notes
Jimin High Note
V OMG deep voice
And then Jin voice 😭😭

You're the only producer I watch in BTS reaction. Each and every time you catch every beat and instrumental things so well. Genius man. Appreciated
Joey Ego : I don't break down videos
Joey ON : what does his face say I NEED TO SEE WHAT IT SAYS
This is hype as always!
This IS the LEAD SINGLE🤣 Yes they had a marching band called UCLA MARCHING BAND and A GOSPEL group do this!!! They just released a behind commentary on the song and they showed the behind production it was amazing!
Luna Niteshade in the dialogue video, it shows UCLA marching band members doing the recording! On Spotify it says UCLA as well. Perhaps it is both?
ashvegas2448 that’s what I thought originally too! But all of my friends in marching band said that wasn’t the case so I’m a bit confused haha. The Solid Gold Sound of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band is UCLA’s marching band name.
@@sorasoda2717 yeah, I actually had to look that up... It's not that well known of a name for them...
13:55
Dude, he really is so smart.
There's a behind the scenes video about the Marching band and the Choir.
I think any sane producer would know you can't electronically produce those kind of snares and tubas and trumpets. Yes, Nato is smart. But so is any other producer. Just my humble non-professional opinion :-)
'This shadow like me' V's face tatto
The reason why the autotune was prominent in most of the tracks in this album "Map of the Soul: 7" is because the overall topic is about overcoming your own "SHADOW" and autotune represents the shadow. Also in Suga's Interlude: Shadow, you can hear the ending was soooo autotune (tho still sounded amazing) is because his shadow was overtaking)
Brain Stained pretty sure it was there just to get the cooler sounding vocals for mainly the rap. But if that’s what you think , sure 🤷♂️
@@ashishsh2859 well lol I've been an ARMY for 2 years now and I've never seen tracks from them esp the recent albums that doesn't have underlying meaning to it. They are intricate in sounds and beats/melodies. Yeah it sound cool on the surface but it's more than that
Brain Stained ive been studying music production and I’ve been an amry for more than 5+ years , and yes I know that BTS love to have hidden meanings in their songs and music videos, especially back in the I need u to fire era when all the fan theories were going crazy. But sometimes some production details are there just to make the song sound better not everything is meant to have a meaning like auto tuned rap is just for the cool effect, hence why they didn’t use as blatantly on the singing sections , if auto tune was meant to have a hidden meaning in this song it would make sense to use to more blatantly on everyone’s voice to make it look like “they all have shadows “ or something. And plus auto tune has been prominent in rap sections in the last couple of albums not just this.
@@ashishsh2859 well I get you but since yoongi was the intro, he has prominent autotune (tho I know he loves to use this esp recently) nad as some analyzed the interlude:shadow it isn't far from what I've said lol. when his shadow talked back to him in the latter part the autotune was immense, making it seems like it was representing the shadow's characteristic.
Brain Stained well looking back to “interlude:shadow” I get what you mean but I think instead of auto tune to representing the shadow they actually used “distortion and saturation” which is definitely more prominent than the Auto tune and is widely used around the emo hip hop/ pop scene ( the weekend, xxxtentacion) to create a very dark , uncomfortable vocal effect. Your idea definitely makes sense when listening to “interlude : shadow” . But I just don’t think they were aiming for that here since they processed the vocals just like every other rap vocals are produced : compression , de-essing , auto tune - reverb , delay and dynamic Eq.
Yess please check out their ON Documentary Film: Dialogue, they did have an actual choir sing along w/ an actual marching band from UCLA. You can see more in depth how they created and produced ON and their whole album :)
@@lunaniteshade9952 nope, you're wrong! the marching band on the actual song IS from UCLA. the marching band in the VIDEO are the Blue Devils. they're two different bands.

The words on Taehyung's cheek says "the shadow like me"
Watch the carpool karaoke they did, Jungkook did that high note and it sounds amazing. I genuinely thought it was a falsetto when I first heard the song, but nope
Yo I just got a revelation. RM says, "Look at me feet, look down", but you notice that you can't really see his feet. While you can see your body shadow, you can't see your feet shadow. This is where your body and its shadow join, hence he says, "My shadow resembles me."
When you watch Joey to see the things he heard in the music that you didn't hear.
Urei Miura “SEE the things he heard ” 😅 I totally get you, and had to re-read to realise you said see and not hear 😄💜
Watching his video reactions on BTS music makes me notice a lot of layers in their songs that I’ve never noticed before. He made me realize and appreciate every details in BTS music even the smallest one. In result, Im loving BTS more and become prouder to these 7 incredible and talented man.
"Sounds like a marching band during a football game" yeah, cause there was a marching band involved.
"this has some gospel vibes" yeah, cause there was a gospel choir involved.
Okay! Prepare for a long comment!
Firstly, the marching band BTS collaborated with is actually a really famous drum corps called The Blue Devils. I highly highly recommend searching them up on CZcams, they're amazing.
Secondly, apparently the gospel group they worked with worked for MONTHS perfecting their contributions to the album.
Thirdly, a little cultural tid bit. "Fighting" or "Hwaiting" are Korean phrases that kind of mean "Let's do this! We got this, we can do it!" It's not just a BTS thing. Only wanted to point it out!
Fourthly, Nato this is seriously BTS's best album in my opinion. You gotta do a listening party or something. You wanna hear church music? Taehyung's solo reminds me of like Christian rock bands. Their music choices and genres are so so so smart this time around I think you would really enjoy the album as a whole!
Thank you again for an awesome video! Only you could drag out a 5 minute performance video to nearly 20 minutes 😂
Blue Devils were in the video, but UCLA marching band did the actual recording of the song.
@@JoobieLoobieSoobieAh, that makes sense. I was looking at the lyric book in the album and saw all the conductors and such were from UCLA. Thank you for the correction!
And the documentary shows the same gospel singers doing the backing for Friend (and I think Inner Child, too)...and one of them did the ad libs at the end of Ego (wasn't Adore like many of us thought) They've been working HARD with BTS for quite some time it would seem. Props!
Courtney no prob! This got me so excited for the shows. I have a very good feeling that we are gonna get marching bands on stage - probably locals for each city. If Clark Atlanta or Morehouse shows up in Atlanta it’s all over.
@@JoobieLoobieSoobie I hope so! I live in the Chicago area so fingers crossed they need a sousaphone player 😂

*‘Cypher 4’*
*‘BST’*
*‘Paradise’*
*‘Fake love’*
*‘DNA’*
*‘Go go’*

*’Boy With luv’*
*’Home’*
*’Black swan’*
*’ON’*
And he will probably give me more heart attacks...

That timing on the pause LOL
Yesss. They had an actual band help them produce this. All the choirs and everything.
One of the many things I respect BTS for is that when auto tune is being used it’s only for effect, maybe a little few tweaks in their voices but what you hear is all them. BTS live sounds just like the studio version.
Just a couple of days ago, Suga talked about Interlude: Shadow and some of the things he did to make it sound the way it does and his answer was basically a short version of things you said in your reaction. It was dope to have that little previous knowledge because of your video.
"Fighting" do not only armys say it's actually something alot of people in korea say to like cheer something like "you got this" or something similiar. Correct me if i'm wrong please :)
@@_kill_bill_ yes, that was what i meant to say but i couldn't really explain it right cause i'm dumb, thank you very much :)

I always felt they needed a good voice coach to really capitalize on their potential. I think they did work with someone on this one cause everyone sounds REALLY strong in this song. V especially for me, he has a lot of power behind his voice on this track. BTS had me feeling like I was at a HBCU with this video/song LOL
The temperary face tattoo Taehyung has in ON says "The shadow likes me"🙂 timestamp: 3.10
You have such a good ear. Picking up all those sounds. I enjoyed your vid. Thanks!!! Yup they got marching band indeed. They have uploaded the documentary of this from the musicians behind it. Incorporating usa's culture into their song, marching band. Who would have thought of bts using marching band? It works tho. They used gayageum in black swan and it works too. They can do anything!
Yes, they have a whole marching band and choir for this and some of the songs in the new album. It is in their previous commentary film they released featuring the creative process and working with them. 😊
this comeback of BTS just sound so Fresh.. they really try to explore something new without leave they trademark thou..
it's always good decision that I watched your video, it's give me another knowledge from producer/musician point of view.
I appreciate so much for your positive reaction 💜💜
BTS used the UCLA Marching Band and the saying on V's cheek is The Shadow Like Me. This is my first time watching your comments. Really enjoyed the it. Such a fantastic video/music/choreo and the overall talent that BTS has shown is beyond amazing.
Joey, don't be mad please, but I absolutely love that most of the time your headphones are on backwards. Its adorable. Also, I've been browsing your original songs and oof! That shit is FIRE 🔥 Someday my bars will be heard too. Until then, I'm turning these L's into Life experience. 🔥💜💜 ARMY is happy to have someone like you who appreciates the music and production of the songs. The lyrics and visuals are insane everytime with BTS, but you point put what we cant catch in the background. Thank you.
When Joey said "Look at my hand" I literally choked on my spit from trying not to laugh.
When I already love a song , I come to your page to watch your reaction. You break down songs & help me here the song in a way I didn't hear before. Ot make me appreciate the song more
In conclusion:
BTS HAS EVERYTHING
Every time I watch a different artist review ON, I discover something else about the song/dance that really shines it in a new perspective and allows me to further admire this work of art
i dont understand why theres a people clicking dislike this videos 😪 they need more love.
This is the Lead single . This is the first MV for it
That “look at my feet down” pissed me off too 😂
The production on their albums is always so glorious
Your analyses of these MVs always make me see music in another light. I absolutely loved the song. They came out with a sort of documentary about the making of the song. You were spot on about them using a live marching band. Like Black Swan, they layered other members vocals in some parts in a much more obvious way, but it also keeps the autotune from completely making the vocal foreign and instead just adds effect onto it. I CANNOT wait to see this performed live.
It says “The shadow like me” 😆
Omg i was waiting for this. Youre reactions are the best
This reaction proves how good you are! You were able to identify things so easily and picked up on things I didn’t hear before!
This is why I love your reactions. You bring out stuff that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed listening to the song. Idk how many times I heard the song prior to watching this and never paid attention to some of the background sounds or the choir in certain parts.
lmao I actually did skip enough of the intro to hear you say "If you skipped _that_ part of the intro..." and then I went back. Got me. But how would I have known, Nato?! Your intro length varies. xD Gotta love you.
"sorry for the smoke detector going off in the background.. i live next to wiz khalifa" HAHAHAHAHAAHAHA I'm dead
For some reason every time I watch Joey's reactions I can hear way more detailed the songs than I did before
you always notice so many details, that's why i love watching your reactions. i already love this song to death but it's really cool to get even more insight and stuff to appreciate. thanks!
The way I skipped the part and when I played the video he was out there calling me out shgsgsgsgs

11:50 I'm not Korean but from what I understand is that "fighting" is usually used for when cheering someone on, like "fighting spirit" cheer or something I think? ^^
Nice reaction, always great commentary from you Joey!
special-cereal yup, it’s used a lot in k-dramas too, there is theories it’s from American soldiers placed in Korea (can’t remember all, just remember reading something a few years ago on google)
GLC Nornes Yes, you’re right- lots of more modern influences on the culture are traced back to the 50s during the Korean War when there was a very large American presence helping the south. “Fighting”/파이팅/화이팅 just is a way to say “good luck”/“break a leg”/“do well” in a more simple and streamlined, modern way. Tons of konglish comes from this time period, some is even really outdated! This is also why Spam is so popular in Korea, because it was a cheap food to Americans that was very abundant in war times since it’s also non perishable, so it was given to Koreans from American soldiers in times of need then, so now it’s become kind of a comfort food in Korea :) very commonly used in 부대찌개/“army base stew” which also dates back to war times since it uses very cheap items that were readily available all made into a stew. Super yummy if you ever get a chance to try it!
All of this is a big reason why I hope the US doesn’t ruin their relationship with Korea, because there is such rich history of citizens helping each other during dire times, and I think “fighting!” Is a really cool example of that :)
I STAN THE GREATEST it’s Paiting/Hwaiting OR fighting... according to the language pages i just went to double check on, but for a user-friendly site, here’s a wiki quote: *“Paiting! (Korean: 파이팅, pronounced [pʰaitʰiŋ]) or Hwaiting! (Korean: 화이팅, pronounced [ɸwaitʰiŋ]) is a Korean word of support or encouragement. It is frequently used in sports or whenever a challenge such as a difficult test or unpleasant assignment is met.[1] It derives from a Konglish borrowing of the English word "Fighting!"[1][2][3]”*
Thanks for stopping at 15:41 😉 really appreciate the visuals
