  • Found a Dell Inspiron One 2305 at a local Goodwill. Bought it mainly for the 1080p touchscreen, but have no idea what I'm going to do with it. Upgraded the CPU and RAM while replacing the CPU fan. Any ideas on what to do with the PC, let me know in the comments.

    Just picked up one of these for free. Can't wait to upgrade it to a quad core. At this point all the supported quad cores are pretty much the same price, so it's worth getting the 610e.

    • @EscoTech
      @EscoTech  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, the CPU upgrade will make a big difference in how well this system runs, and the 610e is so cheap now, it's a no-brainer. Good luck with the upgrade and thanks for checking out the video!

      @@EscoTech Upgrading from the dual core to a quad core made a big difference in overall responsiveness, and youtube and other streaming services finally play smoothly where before they were choppy with dropped frames. Only thing left is to upgrade the ram from 4gigs to 8gigs, which I'm holding off on cause of prices being high right now.

      @EscoTech  Před 3 lety

      @@InDreamsYourMine Glad to hear the CPU upgrade helped. The RAM upgrade probably won't be as noticeable, unless you're maxing out the 4GB, then 8GB will really help. Might see a small performance boost from dual-channel mode, too.

    I have a similar project with a old 2205 from my mum.
    I picked up 8gb of ram and already put it inside.
    I bought a cpu also to replace the old AMD x2 245e with an x4 610e. I hope this works. Both have 45Watt TPD.
    After that i will replace the hdd with an ssd. I guess that will be kinda fast after that.

    Hello, the Phenom II X6-1075T is also compatible for the motherboard, although I don't know if the bios accepts it.

    • @EscoTech
      @EscoTech  Před rokem

      I don't think that CPU microcode would be in the bios, just like you mentioned. While both are AM3 processors, the TDP of the Phenom II x6 1075T is 125W and the low power Athlon II x4 CPUs are 45W. The cooling system in the AIO wouldn't be able to keep up with the Phenom. I do want to revisit another AIO and see if there's one I can upgrade. You can get them pretty cheap. Thanks for checking out the video!

      Hmm, I don't know of any similar models Dell made for this all-in-one lineup. Unfortunately, I think the AMD upgrade path ends with this model. The upgrade in the video is still viable and will help the system perform better with basic tasks, but you'll probably be better moving to a new system altogether. Thanks for watching.

      You won't be able to use an Intel processor (or even most AMD CPUs) because the computer is using a specific AMD chipset. You can only use the processors listed on the dell support page for this computer. Hope this helps!

      @InDreamsYourMine Před 3 lety

      Don't listen to the person who said 910e, not supported by the bios plus it's 65w which is too high. 610e is the best CPU the 2305 supports, it's only 45w, the same as the dual core Athlon so it will run a little cooler it won't have to work as hard.

    • @InDreamsYourMine
      @InDreamsYourMine Před 3 lety +1

      @@xboxheavy It will support the 610e no problem, the only difference you'll notice is double the performance and the fan running slightly more. I didn't notice fan running slightly more since I went from a 45w dual core to a 45w quad core, the little bit extra fan usage is nothing to worry about.

    OHMIGOD how do you get this back FFFFCKKKKING COVER OFF. Ohmigod you slide up not down... that's it !@#$%^&*() Got it now.
    I upgraded to the 510e X4, and then 48 minutes into the Win10 install the whole thing just died and went black with the amber power light of death. I'm assuming the north bridge cooked itself to death.
    So I bought a replacement off ebay today and now have to figure out how to get the !@#$% cover off to put the hard drive in and continue the Win10 upgrade...
    I see now my original first one was missing the steel inside RF shield back plate... that maybe acts as a secondary heat spreader / heat sink... if it makes any kind of spring contact with the heat pipe, CPU, or north bridge..
    I think now I need to buy the 2350 or higher because I really need that SVGA out and composite IN if I'm going to use this as an FPV quadcopter monitor on the road. This thing is turning into a real money pit... if I have to buy yet a 3rd one...
