  • Tried and tested, completely impressed with the beam. It does get hot if you keep blasting turbo often, but it's good to know it's there when you need it. In this video, I'll show you how it stacks up against the P20iX, and the 6 key things that make this the perfect light for police and military.

Just got two units of the p20ix after watching yours and others reviews. Awesome light. Still need a bit of a compact thrower so this P23i or even the way bigger P35i should do the trick. I’m a night worker and do everything at night so my lights have become my best friends from late night shopping, walking to the work building with no lights outside or throwing the trash at 4 AM, using my nitecores to make sure I don’t run into orb weaver spider webs lol. Great video review as always & thank you NITECORE for making quality products!

There are many good options for compact throwers. If you’re partial to nitecore they have the mh25v2! Acebeam has a series L16 through L19 and olight has the warrior x series.. Fenix has the TK20 there’s a bunch of larger ones too from all brands.

I am night worker too in the delivery for post and newspapers in Germany. My two Flashlights are essential and have become my besties too. Especially against drunks and stupid people to spot them lingering in the corner, the strobe is very intense and helps a lot to flee. A high lumen and candela flashlight helps a lot and gives the time you need to draw something else like a pepper spray etc. I never go out with my flashlights.

I live in a country where carrying a firearm for self defense is completely out of the question, so my flashlight is my best defense as a tool, and Nitecore is my light of choice. I carry the MH11 at all times with a spare battery. An upgrade would be awesome. Great tools.

  • @M-TRON

Cannot stress enough how good your reviews are on pointing and explaining those "little" details that make night and day difference in real situations. Features, put in real life context, that the rest of the flashlight reviewers simply overlook, focusing on nuances like threads, knurlings, lanyards, etc. Those people need to understand that the momentary Turbo/Strobe ready features are of social importance. Just like the antilock brakes (ABS).
The flashlight is the undisputed best self defense tool, according to the experts: the most effective, legal, safe, non damaging and multitasking of them all.
Thing is, none of those is valid of you don't have the right one in your hands - that's where your great reviews step in.
    Well done! 👍👍

The only thing you need to know
      It's not really a Con
but just to keep In mind
Is that they get real warm real quick
      *Especially on Turbo*
even with only a few seconds of scanning
      Due to their compact size
      and lack of Heat Sink

Great review. I gave you a sub. Just got my 23i this evening. Wow, that thing is bright! I really like the features and the feel of the buttons. The feel does make a difference to me. I've had some lights that I didn't like the feel of how the buttons worked. I even like the holster. I will likely carry it in tactical mode and will seemingly never need it over their "low" mode of 250 lumens because of its nice concentrated beam. So glad I decided on this light. I'm truly impressed with it.

Such a great update to my mh12s. More Lumen output, better throw and the strobe ready switch make me feel way more secure in my job as train driver. What an awesome light! We have an AR 15 for home defense we got recently but no light yet. This would be perfect for us. Unfortunately my only shot is to win one having 4 kids and 1 income. I was going to look on Amazon for something cheap if I get any Christmas money. When we leave to go camping, hiking or such and can't take the rifle I could easily take it off and carry it in the holster. Right now I have a olight i3t so this would be a huge improvement all the way around for us. Great video btw! I would def buy all that for $229 if it were possible, great deal. It all looks top shelf!

I am not in law enforcement or the military. We live in a rural area where there are virtually no city lights. We live next to my father in law who is dependent on us to help him. There are many times that he calls us at night to come down and help him. With no lights in the area and his house being a ways away we need to use flashlights to find our way. Currently, we just use some energizer flashlights which have 350 lumens. It doesn't light up as much as I would like to feel safe. This flashlight would allow us to see anything (mainly animals) that may be in our path and scare them off. This would help my wife feel safer as well.

Being a paramedic, I use my flashlight for a wide variety of things, but all essential parts of my job. For example locate victims, search for house numbers or street names when trying to get to the caller's location, search a house's interior or trash bin for valuable information (like hidden medication packaging), provide my collegue with light to treat our patiënt, and sadly sometimes to defend ourselves when things are about to get out of hand. I currenty use a Heider 18650-flashlight, which is "okay", but not very use-friendly in terms of it's controls, plus it's having a bad connection somewhere, causing it to keep changing modes automatically. Long story short, I think the new P23i is the perfect for my job because it's compact, easy to control, has a nice mixed beam, and offers some self-defense options (strobe + bezel) in case of an emergency (obviously we as paramedics don't have any other tools to defend ourselves).
Thank you for the fun and informative reviews, you got me hooked on Nitecore!

It sometimes it doesn't want to switch from low to moonlight of from low to med. Kind of have to tap it. I've dropped this thing hundreds of times and after all these years I'm surprised she's even still kickin. This flashlight would serve me well as a replacement. It's bright, has a great throw, and is probably a bit smaller than the MH27 which would make it easier to carry along with the rest of my kit. Looove those super long throw, tight beams.

With the new P23i it definitely will help me during my travelling to countries with really low lighting. Prior to this I have been using the MH series like MH10V2. With the new 21700 battery that can give me 2hr 30mins runtime and with 3000 lumens compared to my MH10V2 which gives out 1200 lumens, it's definitely an upgrade for me. Hopefully I do win the giveaway so I can get an upgrade :) Really educational and good quality video explaining the lights so keep up the good work 👍

I used to travel the world but mainly in Asia. I always had a light with me to see, be seen, and for defensive purposes. If I was still doing that, I'd get the 23i for sure. For my work now and life doing things in all the light conditions, the 23i has been great for me.

a light like this would be invaluable for me. I work as a security officer for a large scientific exhibition centre in Scotland and the supplied torch is just a cheap Chinese thing. It's an RS Components branded torch (flood) and its bright enough for some of my rounds but there are a few long corridors that just disappear into darkness. So now i'm here looking at this. Hope I win!!!! If not, i'll probably buy myself a MH12se as the throw on that thing looks amazing.

I am using the tini 2 and tip SE for inspecting aircraft at night, both inside the cabin/cockpit and externally during walk arounds. There are times that the aircraft is far away, which made me realize that I need a more powerful flashlight that has a higher throw.

As I work in a club, this seems to be effective as the compact beam would ensure that I can target the group or person that I need it to, rather than stunning everyone, but the spill seems enough for me to use it as a searchlight. Added plus is the durability which ensures that I would be prepared for what may come in a dark and rowdy club. Currently using a a p20i, and am thinking of upgrading coz I would benefit from more power.

I’ve started with the MH series lights a few years back and i’ve continued to use Nitecore lights all around my adventures!
Generally for travel, camping and hiking in the outdoors, having a light like the P23 that ramps up super bright with a more focused beam is incredibly useful and confidence inspiring.
Not to mention the highly useful case of using this strobe ready button as a self defence / deterrence tool!

Your reviews is always great, this light very good also for EDC, can be use for self defense as well. I love nitecore products I'm using now t4k but can only burst 4,000 lumens for 10 sec. Wish it has 500 lumens after the 200 lumens. Anyway this will be awesome light to carry for outdoor or indoor use.

I work as a humanitarian aid here in my country of Philippines. And it is very prone to all disasters all year from earthquakes to typhoons. Yes i work as an humanitarian aid but i also provide security to my team during our operations. I currently have the MH10 V2 which serves a lot to me. But the demand of my work outweighs the capabilities of my MH10 V2. So it would probably be better to upgrade into something better like the P23i. The P23i’s capabilities are superior to my work!

I've looked at a lot of lights for an all-round purpose light. I jumped in and got the 23i because of the high candela for defense use and its lumen range for practical use. I am so happy I got this light. It exceeds my expectations. I keep it in tactical mode because I find I can adjust the lumens I want sooooo quickly it made sense to just carry it with turbo always available on the first button hit. Just a well-thought-out light, IMO.
