Should You Buy Gray Zone Warfare?

- Gray Zone Warfare is the newest Tactical Shooter to hit the market, though it comes with a huge caveat. This game is in Early Access. Very Early Access. Being in Pre-Alpha it has it's issues associated with being in such an early state of development. So is it worth it to buy Gray Zone Warfare?

too many people are going into this with the mindset that itâs a finished product
Itâs probably because early access hasnât been early access in gaming for a while. I think this is a actual EA game since it feels like a play test.
Yep. Pay 35$ dollars, play under that 2 hour mark, make the decision if you like what it is AND what it COULD BE, then refund or donât.
finished product, thats not even product my man.
Tbf i hardly really know very many âearly accessâ games that actually add and polish up the game outside of baldurs gate 3
@@kaidantienkulkija its perfectly playable, i have 50 hours in the game, not out of spite because of the tarkov drama (i dont care) i just like the game, wether you like it or not its fine for early access
ânone of these stuff is that bad to me..now granted Iâve been playing Tarkov for over four yearsâ đ I literally laughed out loud
I've been playing tarkov for 7+ years and people make it seem way worse than it was.
At the start you had some loot dropping through floors and things like that but really nothing too crazy. People just like to bash on a really successful game
Itâs sums up the abusive relationship players have with tarkov and how willing they are to accept the bare minimum and be happy with it
@@IamTx216how is that possible game came out in 2018 right?

Been in Star Citizen for a few years now and yea, we have an ungodly tolerance for bugs. About 80 hours into GZW so far and loving it, haven't even hit the "hard" locations yet cause I'm taking my time enjoying how gorgeous the map is.
Honest question why is it that we have an ungodly amount of tolerance for bugs? Like dayz is prime example games bin out for 10 years plus and you STILL can't drive a car without launching to another dimension and people still play with outdated and broken physics, with that being said are people to blame for supporting this crap? Or triple A studios to blame because they haven't bin doing anything new ? Idk it's weird we are OK with crap I support gzw though solid looking game
â@@Machoman50ta the answer is literally always 0 competent competition. Look at every scenario you listed, and think of a worthy competitor. If you can find me one I'd be impressed.
Imagine a kid raised by tarkov... It would be deaf or at least have trouble hearing.

Iâm happy to be a part of this project from the first start.
I totally understand what early access means and can enjoy itâŠ
this is the best attitude, same here
Same, should like we need to squad up
this, game is great fun and has a solid foundation it will be interesting to see the game they build on it
This is important. And to be aware that at any moment the developer or publisher could pull the plug and you will have nothing. Case in point, potentially KSP 2. I am not happy anymore to do this but appreciate those who do.
Same. I wanna get in on the ground floor. I also have done a fair bit of beta testing and bug hunting for other titles. And if I can, I'd want to impact how some of this game develops.
As a Star Citizen player/backer, can confirm, our tolerance for bugs is unsurpassed hahahaha
Gray zone warfare was I originally wanted tarkov to be

I guess because it's so old, but Arma 3 King of the Hill is pretty much a simple version of gray zone warfare.
3 factions, 3 different bases, you fight each other in a certain city on the map, get flown in by heli or by vehicle, save money to buy new gear and level up. I'm really surprised the comparison isn't seen more.
Because I really just don't see the big comparison to tarkov. It's just not there. It's more comparable to arma 3 or deadside.
It feels like Grayzone is to Tarkov, what Deadzone is to DayZ. Similar vibes, more casual, some different things that may actually be better than the OG game in the genre. But I do understand the Tarkov comparisons.
this is so real, i can't believe anybody haven't picked up that it's not at all like tarkov and more to KOTH Arma 3
@@mac_er9275 - except that KotH is PVP. This is more focused on PVE, including PVE-only servers.
The inventory ui / weapon mod is literally exact copy of tarkov
@@SkraLord it's not at all "exactly" like tarkov, and there's dozens and dozens of games with very similar inventory menus. So the UI isn't that comparable either. Tarkov menus pull up and cover your entire screen.
Already sunk like 40 hours into the game since release. I'm done supporting BSG, time to spread the wealth and time on another company. GZW is it.

Gray Zone is some hot ass. They ran a closed alpha for steamers to test the game out. Sure thatâs good but then BSG fumbles so they decide to pull a cash grab by releasing an open alpha by releasing a product with tons of issues that were previously found by the closed alpha? Na thatâs scummy af especially considering their payment model is the exact same as BSGâs with the p2w versions. Whatâs the point in open / closed alphas and betas if they are treated as the same thing as a âfull releasedâ game? At this point game combined are just hiding behind titles as cover for their blatantly terrible game design.
@@ourworldisstrange7301 nowhere did they try to hide that this is early access alpha. If youâre buying this game, youâre agreeing to being a playtester and going in KNOWING that these are issues that will be addressed. Go complain somewhere else
@@ourworldisstrange7301 Not quite how it happened. Go watch Big Frys video on the subject. He was part of the early alpha test and they provided feedback saying the game wasnt ready for release but than the beta streamers that didnt get in got all pissed off and cried and complain to GZW to release it early so they did. So you can thank the beta streamer community for that shit.
As for launchs go GZW had some issues sure but majority disconnection issues were solved in 2 hours time. Same cant be said for BSG, when Tarkov first came out match making was so broken over half the community couldnt even play and it took them WEEKS to fix it, not hours. GZW is technically still in alpha and I choose to spend my time and money assisting their alpha instead of pooring more of that into BSG with their shady ass tactics. This is not the first time they tried to fuck over EOD users. Everyones seems super quick to pass the fact they did this exact samething when Arena came out and tried to say it wasnt a DLC and EOD was going to have to pay for it also. They are just going to keep doing this stupid ass shit. BSG is down for in my opinion. Everyone says Tarkov cant die, I say Tarkov killed its self.
@@MisterChubz To be far the alpha status is in a drop down that you cant even see until you open it on the Steam page and even their website doesnt state it is an alpha. I know it was because I was keeping tabs on the game for a long ass time but still, its not listed in the easiest place to find like most alpha/bets where it literally says it in the title or the game description.

Older until itâs polished.
Itâs great to play
those eyes of yours are awesome! great break down for wanting to get this game! hoorah
I knew I was buying into testing and supplying feedback to create the game I want. I'm good with it.
Your video here is way better than others. Other creators making this video didnât touch on the most important part. The mindset. Expectations. Buying in now is all about your expectations and mindset. If youâre expecting a finished product, this ainât it.
But I for one am excited to get in early and help shape the game
Great video! Everyone should watch this before buying into any early access title. You have to think of it like an investment in a business start-up, but like any investment, there is a risk it won't provide a return. I think a lot of people don't fully appreiate that.
Very true!
we really should stop paying money for pre alpha games. we enabled them to roll out products like this. at some point it has to stop
What are you talking about? There are tons of people loving the game and it was very very clear itâs not anywhere close to finished.
@@RedRascal15 it's about selling unfinished games in general. Not only this one in particular. Beta was a thing. Alpha came afterwards now they sell pre alpha. And people buy that shit. That's the Problem. Because Studios dont have the pressure to release a finished product in a good state ready to compete with other Studios. We buy it in super early stages anyways. And in a lot of cases we get burned doing so.
â@@ovuvuevuevueenyetuenwuevu pre alpha was a thing in the early 2000s already.
I'm not sure where you got your information from.
The thing is that finished games of modern AAA quality can only be released as a finished product by those big publishers and even they suck from time to time at releasing finished games. I'd say you should start play older games or quit pc gaming if you don't like it the way it is right now because that won't change again anymore. It is not economically feasible for most developers to crowd fund games of that proportions and quality without giving people early access. Nobody would give them enough money to finish development before they ran out of funds.
I got the most expensive edition of GZW. I want to support them and for it to be a success. After what BSG did I am happy to play anything else.
Lots of potential with this game. For sure excited for its future
All of the things you've listed are 100% true,
and I love it.
I am having SOO much fun!
Iâm cool with playing early access games. Phasmophobia, Tarkov, and Gray Zone are all early access and easy to get sucked into. Iâd be livid if these bugs were in a fully released game, but Iâm fine with it. Plus, I LOVE how transparent these devs are being. I hope they can get more money and hire more staff because I donât want them to burn themselves out. But Iâm impressed so far and enjoying the product
It shows how many people didnât play, not old enough, or even were around during the Tarkov Alpha days. Or even early DayZ

An addage that comes to mind:
"If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it."
Probably true for any 'game' purchase and most certainly true for early access and alpha games/programs. Perhaps one's money is best utilized in other ways.
100% yes, the pvp can be amazing and youâll always find squads
My buddies and I love the game so far. Contrary to popular belief, thereâs tons of PvP to the point where Iâm thinking heli insertion might be bad idea due to killed dudes coming back very rapidly. It becomes a never ending slog till somebody runs out of will or money
I've been loving this game so far.where it is now already feels better than most tiple a games.but then again I've been lucky because the game has been running so smooth.and I only have an AMD RX6800 GPU.
It's worth the price if you know what you are into it. Do your research as you said with the 5 questions. Its a game with a learning curve who works 60-90% of the time. Undeniably very promising. It is refreshing for what is out there in the market
I am a Star Citizen player and I am having a blast in Gray Zone.
Pre alpha this might be the best early access pre alpha state game ive played or tested it just seems so far along theres nothing but room for growth once this basic system is polished, they can add toxic zones drugs for valuables, pvp zones and pvp events rebel factions loot zones patrols so much
Iâm having fun. But Iâve also been fully aware of what the game is and where itâs at in its mission.
As a Star citizen veteran I can confirm this game has no bugs Iâve encountered that are honestly problematic for me
for alpha this game is perfect! this is what ive been waiting for, cant wait to see what the future holds

This was great video so true on bugs but like @Airwingmarine said they are working hard The first hot fix was great. But hot fix 2 messed it up for me I went from getting low 80fps to mid 90fps in raid but after hot fix 2 i sometime get good frames but mainly I'm running at 40fps. But that ok I Know they will optimize a little more for my 2070 super go back having good frames. hahahaha Love this game I think It worth the money if you got 3090 and higher but anything lower then a 3090 like me just have to be patient. But see you all in the trees,!!!!!

Now more than ever we need you to make a ballistic video with an ammo chart. im so lost :(
i like this video because you were truthful
Biggest complaint with this game for me is the blurry and pixelated graphics, they went too far with the antialiasing and its forced so you cant disable it, its also the same case for another unreal engine 5 game called the finals, but its definitley worse in this game, especially in a game where you need to spot enemies and vision is critical, i pretty much cant see anything past 20 meters and have to kiss my monitor and look between pixels to see something, i have never seen a game with such aggressive forced antialiasing, it makes the game barely playable for me and others, PVP is pretty much impossible, unreal 5 is not looking good so far... i hope they can somehow change this because currently this is 90% of my complaints, and please no comments abouts settings or hardware ive tried everything and its the game its not a me issue.
I feel this so much. I already have vision issues. At first I thought it was just my eyes being a problem, but then I realized that no, shit's actually blurry beyond a certain distance.
This pre alpha should be free with the option for those who want to support it with a donation
- Gunplay is cock
- Desync is terrible
- Constant game crashes
- Animations are floaty and feels unresponsive. Other players running looks like they are about to shit themselves.
- Game runs like an asmatic hippo. With a 3080 you can have 20 fps or 90 depending on mysterious reasons. Optimization is non-existant.
- Side quests arent shared with friends, making progression a nightmare if you dont play together all the time.
Edit: AI is either brain-dead or John Wick.
... Outside of this its a 10/10
Sounds like Tarkov
I wouldn't say a 10 out of 10 lol, the AI can still randomly beam you with every bullet and insta kill you, LZ camping is still a huge issue, there isn't much loot on the map other than the boxes that are placed around the map, I'm being shot at without hearing it all the time, the problems stack up a lot, there isn't just a set list of 5 problems to fix, there's a LOT
Totally agree
Haven't had A SINGLE one of these issues tbh.. currently running at 120fps at 4k max settings. Nil dsync, nil crashes nil floaty shit.. games been perfect the whole way through
Dude you're PC must be a toaster. My game runs perfect on a 5600X with a 6900 XT git gud
Iâm planning on buying it once my friends will. I would have already bought it just to support the company.
for gear deleting i find that it doesnt actually get deleted but randomly moved inside a random backpack or rig. i noticed this as i thought i had a few hundred $ dissapear but the count was still right in the top right, i scowered my stash and found it in a random backpack, so perhaps the gear isnt actually deleted
Finally someone who realizes this is more like an Arma. IMO, its an Arma exile mod that feels like what the Tarkov open world was imagined to be. If you actually meet the recommended requirements and don't have a problem playing an ALPHA it is great! DayZ alpha and Tarkov alpha were far far worse than gray zone's current state. And that is an extremely good sign of development. I'll be approaching just like I did from Tarkov alpha, upgrading as they add content (potentially with sales).
I am on a 3080 on 3440x1440 and my buddy is on a 1080ti at 1080p. We both believe that they significantly increased performance in the last few days significantly, almost double. I no longer have to use FSR frame generation to have above 60fps. They just need to turn that tree render distance down lol.
I'll play it when it is done
First love your videos đ
Yeah, a big problem is the people who can't tell the difference between buying a finished product and joining an early access game. Mind you companies are getting a bit too loose with this, and there should be a clear expected finish date that the devs are held accountable, too.
However, my way of thinking is...
- Buying a finished product, then my money goes to that. I get the game.
Or
I am "donating" money in support of the games devolpemwnt, and in return, I get to be a part of development and get to keep my key on launch. But you right its a mindset, I look at buying early access as a donation, not a purchase.
Super agree been playing alot of early access games so im ok with the jank i love the game so far also been playing tarkov since the pre alpha so im use to pain lol
In its early access state, it is further along than most games. Shape the future of the game by providing feedback. It has been a great buy so far!
I have gray zone, I also own ark survival evolved, I have played 11.2 hours of Gray zone, and 3,867.7 hours of Ark, I have found more bugs in the 11.2 hours I have played gray zone, than I ever found in the almost 4k hours I have played ark. And get this, ARK IS LITERALLY KNOWN FOR THEIR BUGS!! the game is literally known as a bug filled game!
Are they adding lasers and flashlights to the weapons?
Buy it. Its loads of fun unless your rig is older. Then idk...
I played for a bit and really enjoyed it. But getting killed through cement walls when nobody is around me. Or getting kicked out the server to lose all my shit. Iâm gonna wait and come back when it gets cleaned up.
Looks and sounds good but I think Im going to have to hold off.
It's best not to use guides for optimization bc even if you have the same exact set up the chances of you having the same background load n stuff is unlikely plus you got different monitors. I've got like 12 hours in and have played a lot with the settings and tbh using the GeForce experience app has it working best for me. I'm loving this game so far. Any time I've bugged out I haven't lost my kit. If you're trying to use this to replace a game that you play competitively then just don't do that you'll get upset
Pre alphas should be free with a donation option, that's it.
Yes you should buy the game the gameplay loop is fun asf the pvp is addicting there alot of bugs but if youve put up w dayz arma pubg early access or tarkov youll be fine this suits fun i hope i helped someone
Well said, wingman
Yes, the game is only 30% complete but this game in its current state is fun af!
Only 30%? I'm impressed. There's a lot to do already. I can't wait for the finished product.
This game definitely has potential, but only 20% complete
Based off an alpha impression of what theyâve given us im happy. Would love to see where the devs take this in 1+ years.
I DID refund it because i really really couldnt play it, rebought because they dropped 2 very fast patches and i DID crash again but it loaded me back in my exact spot with my kit, i love this game and i think its gonna be GREAT
Only real issues they need to fix are optimisation, network issues and related the headless glitch. They should worry about rolling out new content or fixing other gameplay mechanics later because these are just the game breaking issues they need to fix now
You forgot the blurry and pixelated graphics.
I can afford to buy a game. Acknowledged the pre-alpha state. Iâve play tested a few games over the years, mostly indie and one AAA. I love video gaming so Iâm not going to bitch and complain when I find a specific genre fun. In the league of legends community, itâs widely said âNA is softâ. This community reflects the same issue.
Yes
Yeah, basically, the game is so new that I'm not worried about rhe bugs is fun most of the time I aurally get higher fps then tarkov and don't lag put everytime I open menu like I do in tarkov
Right? I get way better frames in this game than Tarkov.
@tearstoneactual9773 seems like it runs best on amd based stuff right now it uses basically just my ram and cpu 8% of my gpu but I get 120 in base 90 outside
I dont like losing my gear when I die. I cant do recon and then get in over my head and get killed. Cant use the LZ because it's "unavailable". The fun dissappears when i have to spend 20 minutes getting back to the body only to find that it's gone. They're not goi g to change that aspect because it's not a bug.
whats the music in 8:28
The best part about this game is the matching times for Tarkov.
Finally, a down to earth take on the Tarkov situation. $150 for years of live updates and content. Tarkov is arguably the best live service experience (mostly) thatâs been tried so far and those who rode the wave, I hope, can appreciate it.
I know it was a small point in the video, but Iâm incredibly appreciative of the creators who are taking a breath and reflecting on what Tarkov has given so many of us.
Was âunheardâ a dumb decision, sure. Was Nikita unreasonable, sure. Did they handle it appropriately, absolutely not. Did the âcommunityâ and spectators overreact, unquestionably.
This games a very good game for early access
bro if arma and dayz had a child, arma would be a parent AND the grandparent
if any of you guys play/played dayz stand-alone and enjoyed it, youâll be able to tolerate the bugs in gzw. this game is probably 1/4 as buggy as dayz stand-alone especially compared to older patches of dayz
I guess the big cons for me would be, AI being bullet sponges, heli rides taking too long, some game breaking bugs like throwing a grenade and being stuck, the lack of a modding system, and some other minor things, again this is early access but this is good feedback that people have a right to know.
AI is not a bullet sponge, they just don't use health pools like almost, if not every other game out there. They have actual vital organs and blood, just like you. Either hit those vitals or put enough holes that they bleed out over time, if you have to mag dump to kill an enemy with anything more than the pistol then you're just not hitting head, heart or lungs. Bleed out also takes a while, unless you put like 30 holes in them. If you can't run a magnified optic, killing enemies, especially under pressure, can be super hard
@@Toast_T1312 say that to the AI that eat 60 rounds of bullets, these are guys that dont even wear armor btw
@@daltonyoung7146 - Solo player here. I tend to down them in one shot. But I train/shoot pretty much headshots only, considering how often armor comes into play. Unless I'm way far out. Then I push through cover to get close enough. And I have shit eyesight.
Timers and switches. A shot through the brain or the heart will do the job. You also have to consider the ammo you are using. HIgh flesh damage doesn't get through armor very well. (Hollow point, soft tip, etc). High pen doesn't do as much organ/tissue damage. So you might be using high pen ammo on a squishy, non-armored target. Or using meat-destroying ammo on armor. Most of the time you can still punch through a helmet, or at least knock their brain around. High pen ammo will still switch them off like a light. Anything else, like bleeds, are a timer. It takes time for all the red water to come out.
Fight one at a time. Fight from cover. Don't expose yourself to more than one at a time. Don't rush. Stop, look, listen. There is no timer. Take your time. Remain calm. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. Never fight faster than you can see.
Paraphrasing from Wyatt Erp (and other pro killers in the real world) slow down make every shot count. Learn to be slow in a hurry. Make sure of your shots.
Barring those things it may be hit registration and/or desync. Which after the streamer event, they immediately improved on hit-reg. I haven't had an issue with it. So maybe you were playing before that. I dunno, but seems to be good for now.
Also, weapon choice matters. I can hit a 100 meter headshot with a Glock 17 in Tarkov, many times first shot. That's just not doable in GZW right now. I can headshot at about 15 to 17 meters reliably with a Glock 17, even if my sight alignment is perfect. 25 meters is not quite as reliable, not for getting in the kill T. There's more spread on the MOA and your PMC's aiming control isn't quite as good as Tarkov. So weapon and weapon accuracy and PMC accuracy might be at play, depending on range and so on. Also shooting too fast doesn't give time for a perfect recoil reset. It's slower than Tarkov. You can look like you're on target, but sight alignment is slightly off. Have to wait an extra half second or so to get that follow-up, for tight accuracy. So that might be something to consider.
So far the shooting mechanics feel even more real than Tarkov in some ways. I dont think anyone has noticed or commented yet but your PMC actually follows trigger discipline too. I actually find my fights in this game, so far, to be satisfying and feel very realistic due to the health system.
But I also don't do stuff like run down the streets, stand out in the open, etc. So a lot of the time I manage to take out some of the A.I. before they even realize I'm there. If I can drop one or two early, then move and flank, or fight carefully from cover... pie and clear.. things go pretty well.
I ran into a trio last night that was just getting butt-rap3d by the A.I. or they seemed to be. I had no trouble moving through the area and schwacking any that I ran into. I ran into them at a lumber mill, had to go back to base, and then come back to complete a couple tasks in the area. They were still there like 45+ minutes later. Thinking about it now, I probably should have gone back and help those boys out. I'm not sure why they were on the struggle bus so bad.
Anyway, there might be a bunch of reasons you've had that experience.
The shooting of Tarkov always bugged me, so I'd probably have more fun in this one. That said, I'll try (I'll probably fail) to wait a few months. I did that for Helldivers 2 and thought it was worth it.
Seeing some people say that this game demands you play with a card with at least 10GB of VRAM. Is anything less going to cause serious problems? Iâm dealing with a nasty smooth texture/low res texture issue where the sliders/fsr do nothing to fix. Also getting really strange lighting issues where I go into a room and the game goes near total dark then slightly brightens again and I get major ghosting when I move around in that dark space. So far no setting moved to low or high makes any difference. Seen people with 1080ti not have this issue and I have a 2060 lol
Same shit happened to me I got 2060 settings did nothing everything was clay looking. Fsr made stuff in the distance look horrible and I could barely see. So I guess I have to wait
@@mjesus850 yea no setting has fixed this not even a reinstall. Distance clarity seems to be an issue for a lot of people though not even just us unlucky ones with the non rendered stuff. Someone was saying that our textures wonât render because of the low VRAM issue but idk how true that is because Iâve seen people with higher end cards get this problem as well. Hoping they fix this personally because I can handle the poor frames but the low texture stuff and muddy/blurry image quality actually hinders gameplay because unless I have a scope I canât make out enemy from bush. Also getting some crazy fps dips when I zoom into to something like and ACOG or higher zoom level. Basically have to run 1x sights if I want to be able to shoot anything
>what does pre-alpha mean
I'm on a RTX 4060 with 8 gb VRAM. I started out with 40-ish FPS. I went through some optimization videos, followed their advice, dropped at one point to the 20's on framerate. Then came back up to about where I was. Then I wound up going the opposite direction, and getting a solid 90 fps. I locked myself at 60 because anything faster is more than my monitor can do. You're going to have to do some fiddling. It doesn't necessarily work great straight out of the box.
Processor also seems to matter too. I have kind of an older processor, but getting at least 90fps. So... I'm not sure.
@@KyleFromVA - seems the antialiasing is way overzealous. Which is part of the issue on the blur
The game needs to cook a solid year before put in early access
what is the ratio betwen players vs ai vs players ?
