- Andrew Johnston's performance of Pie Jesu (from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem) in the final of Britain's Got Talent 2008.
Andrew finished in third place (behind dance acts George Sampson and Signature), but was signed by Simon Cowell's Syco record label and an album One Voice was released at the end of September 2008.

I love how the judges have boosted this young man's confidence. They have been so complimentary and have stood behind him all along the way. All children need this.

Simon's face while he listened... pretty much the same as mine, except I had tears running down my cheeks. Every time I hear this ethereal performance, my heart swells to bursting and overflows my eyes.
When he raised his arm, so much confidence he got thru the show. He won BGT to me!

He should have won but as usual , in all competitions where the audience votes, it is always the one who does not deserve to win who wins ! Jonathan and Charlotte losing to a girl and her dog was the most disgusting, wrong, heartbreaking thing I had ever witmessed. Opera is not dead, I have enjoyed listening to it since I was six years old and I hold belief that it is the purest, most beautiful form of music to ever exist. This world is shameful and idiotic to say the least that people of this caliber of talent are not achieving the final goal and recieving the recognition that they, and they alone, deserve. Thank you for your belief in this passionate form of musicql genuis!

LILLY KARL George Sampson deserved the win. Taking nothing away from Andrew Johnston as he also had a great performance. I believe the ignorance could be on your part. You seem to be one dimensional with your entertainment and try to belittle those who don't agree with you. I enjoyed the performance by Andrew and George but I will say I believe that George Sampson deserved the win and to be truthful with you I usually would not pick the dancing over the singing.

Coming from the classic side of rock DOES NOT make it impossible to understand how wonderful his voice is or how difficult it is to make the vocal sounds this young man makes. Even my untrained ear knows what I like! Enjoy the smooth as glass sounds that are so beautifully formed.....I would love to have someone like him record my originals and put his spin on them......truly unworthy. Good luck to you young man!

He has the most beautiful voice - totally pitch perfect! With ongoing training, he could well become a very powerful singer indeed - at the age of 13 his voice should be about to break, but he may well become a counter tenor!

I lost my way with God a long time ago but if God exists He sure did give this lad a gift of the voice of an angel. Truly inspirational and beautiful. Well done Andrew and live your dream. As for when your voice breaks, cross that bridge when you come to it, but you have had the training so it will just come naturally to you.
O.O wow! Andrew Johnston is amazing! That type of voice and signing doesn't get handed down to people easily hell I cant even keep a tune and look at this kid! Amazing! I wish him all the best and I'm sure good things will open for him in the future.

Anyway, Simon Cowell still gave him a recording contract and his CD, called One Voice, is being released in the UK on 29 September.
