    Finally! Someone shows how to disconnect the fuel lines that are in the tank! Thank you!

      It was a bugger! The factory service manual is often light on details!

    Good video! Got an '09 Low Rider I bought in 2015 with 2500 miles on it. It's pushing 22,000, so will be doing this sometime this year. I presume that, if like most of us, the muted sections included some salty language while you stuffed that assembly back into the tank! As for the price for two bags of screws, The Factory should at least show a sense of humor and print "You've Just Been Screwed By Harley-Davidson" on the bags. Thanks again for taking the time to make the video and point out the more challenging parts.

      Ha ha I love your sense of humor! I had to edit the video to remove all the trial and error and try to make something useful for posterity. 😄

    Thanks. Looks painless enough but I am definitely changing that gasket. This is my next project. Nice looking bike. I appreciate the classic style Dynas more now since I'm sick of seeing the "Club Style" everywhere. Have a little creativity people.

      I hope your project goes well. Unfortunately, my Dyna and I met up with a deer a month ago. I'm still recovering. The Dyna appears to be totaled.

    just get a $8 siphon pump from Harbor freight to drain the fuel tank, much easier

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Před 5 měsíci

      That sounds a heck of a lot easier, thanks!

    Haha awesome video, glad to see we all make funny mistakes, I watched your video to take mine out and I’m guessing for reassembly you put it back in more than 1 piece ?

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Před 6 měsíci

      I was able to put it in as ac1 piece unit, but I forgot to connect the fuel hose. So I had it all the way closed up, and it was blowing gas around in the tank like a jacuzzi 😂

    Did your bike have any symptoms to make you think that the fuel filter was bad? I'm having an inconsistent stalling problem rolling to stops and this could be a possible solution

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Před rokem +2

      No symptoms, but at 30K miles and 9 yrs old, I knew it would be nasty. I would think a clogged fuel filter would manifest itself the most when you're demanding a lot of fuel, such as acceleration. But I am a novice at this. Try posting on hdforums if you haven't already.

    Was there a reason you didnt hook the fuel line back up? Or did I just miss that?

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Před rokem

      Yes, I thought it would save gas! 😁 I put the note about the fuel line at 9:16 because I missed that step, and it wasn't on video when I connected it.

    Is the process the same for an 07?
    I called harley today they want $300 to change the filter, quoted 2 hours

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Před rokem

      Here's a video for an '06, maybe that's a better match for you. I was thinking $300 when I did the job.

    did you find it necessary to replace the screws?

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I replaced them, but I don't feel it was necessary. My bike was 9 years old at the time and I feel they would have sealed it just fine.
      Maybe because it's fuel, Harley is cautious and recommends replacing them.

    What u think the street glide filter is like ?
    I want to see that one lol

    • @bluesriderDF

      The SG only had 15K compared to 37 on the Dyna, but it was pretty close! I think the FF is outta sight/outta mind for most people.

    I've never changed one! Buddy yours looked used up. I'm gonna do mine soon. So question is did it run any better, did it get better fuel milage? We need details ☠

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Před 2 měsíci

      Hey bud, no change in performance. I think once a fuel filter starts getting clogged, you will notice it for sure.
