Very cool video. I was on Blue Ridge from Sep '72 - Jan 74 as Radio Officer, then 1st Lt. then Legal Officer. We were home ported in San Diego back then, so a deployment was about 9 months. We hit so many ports, including Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Hawaii and San Fran. I fell in love in almost every one. :D I see many changes on Blue Ridge, but would recognize her anywhere.
I was on the Big Blue from 80-82. Best ship in the fleet, best Navy ship ever. I wish I could walk up the after brow, show my shellback card while saluting the officer of the deck and walk through the passageways, just one more time, and let the memories flow through me.
There's a hell of a lot more to this ship than command, control and cummunication. There's got to be a lot of black voodoo magic electronic warfare being performed from this boat. That's a lot of unusual antennas covering that ship.

I was actually on this ship when you were doing your tour I believe I was walking around Tokyo when you came onboard.

Was on board 87 to 91..Tech control..Loved the Ole Lady..my opinion best ship in the fleet..😁😁😁
This was my home 1980-1983. I love this old ship. Rode a lot of ocean onboard her.
My dad served on her from 90-93.

Been there done that. Did the same exact thing 38 years ago. It hasn't changed a bit.
