  • Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park is a United States national historical park located in Richmond, California, near San Francisco. The park preserves and interprets the legacy of the United States home front during World War II, including the Kaiser Richmond Shipyards, the Victory ship SS Red Oak Victory, a tank factory, housing developments and other facilities built to support America's entry into World War II. In particular, the role of women and African-Americans in war industries is explored and honored.

    Why do you people always have to make everything about progress? Rosie the riveter had absolutely nothing to do with progressive agendas.
    It is an absolute insult for you to try to bring my black Republican grandma who was a Rosie the riveter into your progressive agenda.

      I don’t believe you have visited the Rosie the Riveter Homefront NHP….if you had you would hear and see evidence that both women and black Americans were offered new opportunities to work in war production industries. Yet discrimination against them was still strong. I work at the Visitor Center as a volunteer. Stop by when you are in Richmond, California, as we would love to hear about your grandmother’s experiences during WWII. There’s no entrance fee.
