  • In a remarkable turn of events, Tyrese Maxey has emerged as a star for the Philadelphia 76ers, defying expectations since being drafted 21st overall. Maxey's evolution, from initially coming off the bench to now leading the Sixers in scoring alongside Joel Embiid, showcases his exceptional growth as a player. With an improved three-point shot and explosive scoring, Maxey has become an integral part of the team's revamped offense under new coach Nick Nurse, drawing comparisons to established guards like Jamal Murray and even Steph Curry. The strategic changes, including a faster pace and a dynamic handoff play with Embiid, have unlocked Maxey's potential, leading to high-scoring games and notable performances, such as his 50-point game against the Pacers. As Maxey continues to shine, his trajectory hints at the possibility of perennial All-Star status, challenging the skepticism of the 20 teams that passed on him in the draft.

    I was so sick of Doc's arcane ways and his hatred of DHOs. Literally the most obvious action you can do with a duo like Maxey/Embiid. Embiid was already great at it with JJ who was clearly more one dimensional because he could only shoot it. Really love the distance covered stat too.

      Yeah, I know, he just had embiid and Harden run the show with their pick and roll, no sharing the ball, no young players

      he literally called no plays at any point. there was no offball movement or cuts to the rim like oubre be doing this year. it was literally taking turns playing iso ball bc tobias would do it too

    I live in Philly. Something felt like this kid had a little extra. I am also a sport card collector. Always looking for a profit. Took a shot and decided to invest in Maxey. Bought a stack of p.s.a. 10's. So far, with the departure of Harden we are seeing the rise of a star. Maybe it was the nonstop smile of a kid that loves this game. Maybe that he plays fearless. The kid just has it.

    Mike Muscala used to be on the Sixers. His greatest accomplishment for the Sixers is still hitting that shot against the Heat in a OKC uniform.

    I don’t think they copied the nuggets offensive as Nick Nurse has always used centers as playmakers like he did with Marc Gasol and nurse always loved moving the ball around

    • @tysonmaddox1090
      @tysonmaddox1090 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Tbf as he stated, our similarities to the nuggets are almost uncanny. Joel to jokic, maxey to Murray, Harris and oubre to porter and Gordon. A lot of similarities there though I’ll take your word on nurse’s scheme since I’m not super familiar with it

    Anyone who actually paid attention to the Sixers before they traded for Harden last year knew they’d be ok without him…seriously, Maxey played PG then and did great, and Joel Embiid somehow gets underrated and shit on for no reason. With him they will always be a 50 win team.

    Maxey, in year 4, is already better than Dame Lillard was in year 4. And Lillard was an NBA starter from day 1 with the Blazers.

    • @analyticswithchris
      @analyticswithchris  Před 6 měsíci +2

      It’s not crazy to think he could end up having a similar career to Dame if he stays healthy. I think due to a small role to start his career and being a late pick people have not viewed him as a future star like other players with similar numbers are. Funny how many people wanted the sixers to trade maxey for Lillard this off-season.

    Maxey at 21 has so far been a steal. Unless he turns into Ben Simmons

    • @jasongts
      @jasongts Před 6 měsíci +12

      The case of Ben Simmons was that he never seemed to have developed his game in the off-season. We are currently watching a new and improved Maxey perform at a level that we have never seen from him in earlier seasons and that’s what separates the two. If he stays healthy and keeps his shooting confidence, he has an amazing career ahead of him.

    • @chantellbritto8559
