She moves as though she is the music itself. I too, like she, was pissed that the song did not keep playing, in order to see her dance and produce those lovely looking notes she makes with her body. What a mover!
One other thing. It would be nice for a dancer to do this when Debbie Allen is judging "So You Think You Can Dance". Just to see the look on her face would be priceless.
In the 1980s, I loved "Fame" as the TV series and I loved Debbie Allen playing Lydia. At that time, I had very balletic arms and I tried to dance the style that Debbie had in the TV show - lyrical, balletic, and also extrovert and explosive too. Even at 46 I can still do the attitude-pirouette like Debbie did in that video.
The name of this tune is "Lydia's Solo Groove" by William Goldstein. It is featured in the album "Fame (Original Soundtrack from the NBC Series)", available on the US iTunes Store.
This is one of the best dance sequences on the show. However, I remember Ms. Allen doing a dance to Rick James "Glow" and I cannot find it. If anyone has it please post. I know she did it after an audition with Coco.
@240clay98 This sounds like a studio version of Donald Byrd's Love Has Come Around from 1981, presumably recorded for the series. What episode is this?
12 years ago a thousand fighting 204 on that side well it was just a long time ago and it's 2022 but it's not 2021 2022 20 21 20 21 20 22 20 21 what's wrong with me 😔
Debbie Allen was the real star of the TV Series of Fame. And as a dancer and choreographer she was the real dance diva from the begin 80's.
Yes.

She deserved it!
The music follows her 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Amazing dancer
The heyday of the fabulous Ms. Allen- a true dancing diva.

I love how she says, "Gal! What 'chu doin' here?"

Why did they rename this? This is Lydia's solo groove. This is also the begining of Love Has Come Around by Donald Byrd.
+Richard Johnson Thanks for the info. I love this, but had no idea what the name of the track was. Too bad the cut is only 44 mins.

Season 1 was the best, IMO. The show went downhill quality-wise once it moved from NBC to cable.
