LG 3.1 Soundbar S65Q and JBL 2.1 Deep Bass Review - With ACTUAL Audio Recorded

  • The sound is really impressive on both, so while you may not hear much difference, in reality I just want you to listen to these awesome songs for no other reason than to enjoy them 😄.
    For real though, the LG may deliver a more "immersive" virtual surround sound, but you'll FEEL the bass from the JBL in your bones, nothing "virtual" about that!
    Not to mention, I'm also going to test the wattage used by both soundbars, you'll be surprised with the result!
    My channel is not for monetary gain, so with that being said, I don't mind sharing real audio for you to listen to, after all, isn't this supposed to be a review video? Not sure why most other channels didn't think about including sound in a SOUNDBAR review 🤔

    I just ordered this LG 3.1 soundbar. Your review was great, and informative. As I’m going to use the soundbar rather than the speakers on the TV, I think I’ll be really happy with that 3rd channel! I will use it to listen to music as well, but the main function is video media. The sound just sounds a bit more even with that third channel going, and I love it.

    This is JUST the review i needed to finally put my hours of research to the end. I'm going to try out the LG as it's currently $50 less at the moment, and figure i can add on a warranty for less. I have an LG C3 to pair it with too. I use the TV as a monitor, mostly watching shows/movies and gaming, and I think having a speaker in the center will make a difference in being close. Also, I like that it disconnects the Bluetooth after you turn it off, there are instances where you don't want to forget you're still connected lol. Thanks for the video, and for even checking the wattage!

    Thanks for doing this review. To me, this was more about a 2.1 vs a 3.1 and how important is that center channel. Apparently, it does make a lot of difference. Tell me if I'm wrong. This makes me wonder, why doesn't all soundbars have at least 3 channels, which includes a center channel.

    • @Filmlove
      @Filmlove  Před rokem +2

      I’m glad this helped! I assume soundbars going without the center channel is a cost cutting measure for sure (or a reason for them to upsell the 3.1, 5.1, etc). I’m mostly happy with the 2.1 JBL, mostly because I don’t need the center channel for dialogue since I primary use that soundbar for music and bass really compensates!

    • @Filmlove
      @Filmlove  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@atf56 most 2.1 systems are good for music since most tracks really are just 2 channels (L/R channels) + the bass. But if you jump to 5.1 or greater, you can then surround a room with the music and that would definitely make a difference!

    you didn't even do the review properly, phones will default to stereo output, in surround mode which is defaulted on most streaming apps on most tvs (and what most movies only have) the lg will win every time just because it processes surround sound and not only outputs dialogue correctly through its center speaker (2.1 like jbl will be muted dialogue), it also tries to virtually create two rear speakers in your room if it has the software (phone app) to set up a profile for your room.

    • @Filmlove
      @Filmlove  Před 7 měsíci

      Interesting perspective, thanks this will give me more settings to test next time around! I’m assuming that for the 90% of use-case scenarios that most people are going to leave the defaults on and simply plug and play like I just did, so this should still fairly represent what the systems will output normally (until we go in and manually optimize)

      I actually prefer not having a center speaker. I have some Kef Q150s in one room and Kef Q100s in another. In our house, I can make out what people are saying in movies and shows better in 4.1 then I can 5.1. Keep in mind I am in my late forties which does effect my hearing but I tend to be an audiophile without the audiophile budget.
      The dynamic sounds from loud scenes make it way harder to discern what is being said with dialogue only from the center. Using 4.1 it is much easier for me to hear what they are saying. Everyone's hearing is different and every room changes the way things sound. Choosing audio products between LG and JBL is a no brainer. I would choose JBL every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
      LG is a good brand for video products (we use LG 55 C1s as our main PC monitors) but JBL is the average person's audio king. There are some brands that don't use Harman's V shaped sound profile that sound more accurate and have less flaws in the sound like Kef but you pay a premium.
      I am considering this JBL 2.1 MK2 system for a pc setup on my sit stand desk. Currently I have a pair of NHT Super Micro Zeros on my desk paired with a 10" Subwoofer powered by a Crown XLS1002.
      I used a Klipsch sound bar on my wife's setup and it looks and functions way better (but doesn't sound better). Also my small NHTs partially block the view of the bottom corners of my wall mounted display when I sit back.
      I want to swap over to a soundbar but I don't want to give up audio quality. JBL will be a step down but I am hoping not that much. I cannot justify spending the extra money on the better stuff like KEF's soundbar. They are literally more then double the price.
      Hope my opinion helped a little.
