    I can wear my PRX without worrying about being clubbed over the head for it.. the AP on the other hand, can’t say the same. For mere mortals, I think the PRX gets you that AP enjoyment without the investment / risk. Almost like driving a Nissan GTR vs a Ferrari.

    I actually own both (black 15500) and blue (PRX). The finishing on the AP bracelet is miles better it’s maybe one of the best finished in all of watchmaking, and the dial detail (made with lathe) is incredible. But you pay a big price....I wear the PRX more often. I also prefer the size of the PRX, the 15500 in my opinion is a tad large.

But at my meager income level, I already own a PRX, am wearing it as I type, and really enjoy it! BTW, the prices you quoted, the Royal Oak is 66.6667% more expensive than the PRX.

    @brasso9393 Před rokem +17

    From my humble opinion,the PRX value heavily lies on its integrated bracelet and casing not so much on the dial and movement. I went for the quartz version for this reason and also the sun burst dial is a plus to me vs waffle dial.

      Huh? The Powermatic 80 uses a silicon spring and is very accurate - COSC rated. By far the cheapest on the market. I love watches but the big brands are overinflated. Their profit margins are super high. They could’ve taken the PRX and slapped an Omega logo on it, charged $2,000 and people would still buy it in droves

I have another Tissot with the movement I was referring to, which is a chronometer and higher grade, and the PRX is not. A bit disappointing but I still want one. Mine was $700 retail and got online for 500… but I guess that bracelet takes a lot more labor than a leather strap. It’s not technically a chronometer I guess, but still supposed to be quite accurate

    • @powerchuffer
      @powerchuffer Před rokem +1

      @@brasso9393 It has been discussed but the reached conclusions are the complete opposite. The movement is certainly serviceable, both by independent watchmakers (Swatch authorized in case you need replacement parts) or by Tissot. What they actually do is swap in a new movement and service the old one to use in the future, which is IMO very smart and efficient. Tissot does it for a fixed rate of 200€ which is not "hefty" at all.

    About the "vs" of Tissot against "The holly trinity". Last year there was an article in CQ that Klay Thompson wore a Vacheron Constantin 222 Historique in gold (70’000 $) for a Matchup game and the choice was considered excellent taste on Klay’s part. It turns out he actually wore a quartz PRX in gold.
    I find it really hard to justify the price tags on Patek, AP and the like. I just bought a MIDO Multifort TV Big Date a few weeks ago. It features at 1’200 $ a great looking watch, which is right up there with a Patek Aquanaut (1997) or Nautilus (1976), has however a pedigree predating them with the original released in 1973. It features a beautiful big date complication, 100 m water resistance with screw down crown and 80 hours power reserve. I was lucky with mine, over the past few weeks (wearing it every day) it loses 5 seconds a week, not a day. That is significantly less than 1 second per day.
    Whereas the manufacture (in the proper sense of the word) deserves praise, a factor 50 to 100 in price is for me not understandable.

    lol those aren't screws on the bezel of the RO, but they sure fooled you. "o0o0o0o they're perfectly aligned what craftsmanship and perfection!" lmao
    I love some Royal Oaks, and plan on adding one to my collection within the next few years as long as I hit a major milestone in my life. Mainly the 15202, but I'm warming up to the 37mm 3-hander which I can't remember the ref of at the moment. I'm not really a Blue-Dial guy, but the 15202 is one of the few pieces I would love with a Blue-Dial (that, the 4000v from VC, and that's about it). Love the Salmon-Dial, A TON as it has an almost yellow hue to it, but if I'm spending that much I definitely need to see one in person. If it doesn't look as disgusting as the Yellow-Dial OP which looks NOTHING like the press photos/renders on the page I'm good. I'd rather not wear dried mustard on my wrist.
    The RO Bracelet hooked me the first time I had a 15202 in my hands... The 15000 is just a tad too large IMO which drew me into the Jumbo, and now the 37mm with a seconds hand even though my wrists are a bit larger than 7.25" 🤷🏿‍♂
    Obviously I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the unbelievable work AP has done with their Open-Worked Models which I know I'll never own but I can always admire.
    Both the Black and White Ceramic ROs are stunning... And I might like AP's RG mix more than any other top-shelf Brand out there. Just gorgeous. Grails that are unfortunately unachievable at this point. Maybe some day. Grails should be out of touch, but not COMPLETELY. I'd never buy one, but if I loved a $4m RM, that's not a grail unless I'm bringing in $xxx,xxx,xxx.xx/year or something, if not more. I make good money, but not that much.
    As far as the PRX goes, these comparisons are insanely pointless. Obviously the RO is going to decimate the PRX. These Videos are intended to show how well Tissot did for a piece that now costs ~$500 on Joma (the P80 40mm). You won't find better finishing at that price, nor will you find a better bracelet. I bought a 40mm Quartz right after release from an across-the-pond AD who had it on sale for a small chunk off during a holiday and I was able to find coupons they allowed me to stack so I paid about $200 shipped or so, maybe $10-$15 more at most, and was able to sell it for more than I paid when they were sold out everywhere for a bit. I was lucky enough to get one which hit all of the markers unlike many of them, and loved everything about the piece... But it just did not fit my wrist well. Even at 7.25-.35", that non-articuating link on each side leading to an insane L2L drove me a bit nuts. Not as if there was any real "overhang" like a plate sitting on my wrist, but it stuck out JUST enough on each side for there to be just enough space to bother me just a bit.
    I wear pieces for myself, not others, but I will say I got more questions/compliments on the PRX than any of my Rolexes, Omegas, Zenith, Tudor, and Monta...
    Thought it was a bit crazy. I'd really like to find an AD who has the entire range including the new pieces so I can try a bunch of them on. I'm very curious to see if Rubber makes the 40 more wearable (but fuck I love that bracelet...) and I really want to see if the 35mm PM80 is too small. The Chrono is FAR too large, but I expected that. It may be nice on Rubber though. I sold my 40mm Quartz PRX for a small profit after fees, and put that into my watch fund, but if the 35mm PM80 fits more like a 37-38mm like most say... I'm in. I haven't seen a single shot of the MOP Dial that shows anything but white, but I'm sure it's much different in person. Gorgeous though. I'd likely just get another Black-Dial because most of my wardrobe is monochromatic with hits here and there, but I was quite surprised to see the 35mm costs more on Tissot's site than the 40mm at full List price which is a bit nuts to me but eh whatever they'll be discounted soon.

      The prx looks a lot closer to the AP in fit and finish than a Ford Fiesta does to a Ferrari. And at a much less cost ratio. The watch industry has changed a lot (for the worst) over the past 6 years especially.

    • @tiagodvt
      @tiagodvt Před rokem +3

      It is really hard to justify the price difference when you see them side by side. The RO is obviously the better watch, better finished, better movement, screws on the bracelet, the brand name, the prestige, whatever. It should be better, obviously. But at 600 bucks the PRX is one of the best watches currently on the market imo. The finishing is really impeccable. We are getting a swiss automatic watch, with 80h of power reserve (even if with a 3hz movement), a sapphire crystal with AR coating, an integrated bracelet style full of little details (like the polished parts in-between the links), etc. From an awesome brand, full of history and known to pretty much everybody. In my book, it's an awesome watch.

      @@tariqjoseph3562 Perhaps, you haven't had the chance to handle an AP. I have owned five Royal Oaks, and I can tell you from experience that it is far better than a PRX in every way. Although I love my PRX, it does not even come close to my AP. It is very much like going from a Ford to a Ferrari, and I have driven both. The only resemblance is they are both watches. Similarly, Ford and Ferrari are both cars. That's where it ends. But for the money, you can't beat a PRX.

    • @tariqjoseph3562
      @tariqjoseph3562 Před rokem +4

      @@Unknown-fl7dj I have handled both, and of course it’s better, but not such a huge difference (50 times) you seem to suggest, remember not long ago these watches were about 22/25 times the price of the prx, so of course it’s overpriced now. Also, I’m guessing you’ve never driven a Ford GT 😉

    The powermatic 80 is not just an ETA movement. It isn't serviceable, the ability to adjust it has been removed, and it contains plastic parts. It's literally everything bad about in-house movements with none of the value of being an ETA. Garbage.

    • @JamesAlexander14
      @JamesAlexander14 Před rokem +2

      Please stop talking crap. The Powermatic movement is excellent and when being serviced, the entire movement will be replaced by a new movement with the old movement being sent back to the manufacture for recycling back into new parts. I have a Powermatic movement watch and I wish more models would have one. You have now been educated. Be grateful!

    • @DavidRon
      @DavidRon Před rokem +1

      @@ThePoushal "Service" means "throw it away and insert a new one". Compared to a base model Seiko, the powermatic 80 has way better accuracy out of the shop, higher beat rate, and a higher power reserve, but I can pop the back off of my Seiko and adjust it with a toothpick, and the all-metal construction should last me decades. The AP has a serviceable movement. A Seiko 5 has a serviceable movement. The PRX has a replaceable movement.
