President Ronald Reagan wrote in his diary that night: "An old friend P.M. of Singapore Lee Kwan Yew arrived. We had the usual ceremony, meeting & State Dinner. He’s truly one of the worlds great statesmen. He’s just visited China-his old friend Chairman Deng. His observations were very informative as were his observations on the Philippines & Pres. Marcos."

These were the glory days of Singapore that made me feel proud to be identified as a born and bred 3rd generation Singaporean. They were the best times ever and I miss them the most. A country thrives only when its leaders are dedicated to building a nation focused on providing a better life for its own citizens by equipping the people with basic education and work skills so that everyone has an opportunity to living a decent life with a hygienic standard of housing, utility supplies, nutrition and access to affordable health n medical care. Political leaders were selected based on their moral values, inregrity, work ethics and discipline, with the sincerity to serving the people as their top priority ensuring that everyone has equal opportunities to education and have a means of supporting their families, by securing jobs and provided with training and acquire the relevant skills in their field of work and professional development.

Mr Ronald Reagan once said of Trump after they shook hands: that he felt like he was shaking the hand of a president. How prophetic that turned out to be, and more. Both shared a love and loyalty for American and Americans. Can’t say the same for this current administration, which is so sad to watch as a foreigner.
Free open trade is only good when there’s equity between the trading partners. China apparently did no such thing. They came, they robbed and stole from the Americans. They stole not just the technology but also the 2020 election. Americans should wake up to their communist agenda before it’s too late. Fortunately, our then Prime Minister recognised the communist threat and dealt harshly with the communists trying to subvert our society in our early years of nationhood.
The reason many leaders learn from Mr Lee Kuan Yee is because his nation, as is most south east asian goes thru rapid change of circumstances than big developed countries. And so because his ability to identify and adapt accordingly ensured the success of his country.
Reagan’s way worked in the circumstances at that time. Today’s circumstances are very different.
