One thing that I don’t hear anybody sugest is that, of you have another interface, you can use it as an insert. For exemple, in a MAC you can join 2 interfaces and use that second interface to send out the signal to outboard gear and return to the DAW. After that you send it to the soundcraft. Is the same thing you did in this video but with another interface before the signature.

Planning to use the soundcraft for my analogue inputs. I have a couple of synths. I did try it against an ssl affordable interface.
Tested it using some vinyl records as inputs.
      The ssl sounded better.
However the eq on the soundcraft sound amazing.

Brian, I have a Tascam 1/2" analog reel to reel that I want to record some acoustic guitar parts through the Soundcraft Signature console. I wanted to use an outboard compressor and go all analog to give it that pure analog sound. How would I route that on the Signature console? I don't want any digital routing, just analog. Thanks!

    Nice video.
The return coming from the Soundcraft mixer (with the effect), is that going into your Presonus StudioLive mixer so that you can get it back into the Studio One DAW?
    Thanks.

The Soundcraft and StudioLive are setup to be an aggregated audio device, so the audio is going back into the computer via USB from the Soundcraft. The Soundcraft and the StudioLive are both configured to send audio to and from the DAW via their I/Os.

Hey Brian, one more ? on the MTK series. I have the MTK 12 instead of MTK 22 and I want to use it as a live show mixer also, but with an effects box like you use here instead of my internal mixer effects. My channels 11/12 are my only ones that do not have an XLR input (currently using all 8 of my XLRs 1-8). But my ch 11/12 only have RCAs in--so could I loop my effects back in there to be in my overall live mix? Sorry if this is confusing, but I am new to this mixer. You have been a great help to me so far on learning this MTK!! thx, Al

I would use either Aux 1 & Aux 2 or Groups 1 & 2 as your stereo send to your outboard effects unit and every channel you want to have the effects applied to would be routed to either the Aux sends or Group Sends.
The output of your effects unit can then be inserted into Analog 9/10 and blended into your live sound. You can use Analog 11/12 to plug an mp3 player/smart phone or other type of audio gear to play music for in between live sets. The good part about using this type of setup is the Interval Mute button above the Master fader. This button can be used to mute the entire console except for channels 11/12. This is great for when anyone wants to come back on stage after a break and plug back into their gear and tune but you don't want this to come through the PA mains because you are still playing music through channels 11/12.

@@BrianBuckalew as always, thanks for taking the time to answer my query. I see what you are saying--makes sense. The effects unit I want to try this with is not stereo, just a mono in and out stomp box. So it sounds like I will not be able use my channel 9/10 as I am currently as a mic input with xlr, and instead send my mono effects signal into the L/mono input on 9/10. That will mean one less mic channel, so I will have to see if that tradeoff is worth it. Or, I could always go back to the internal effects--but so far, not finding a built in effect that sounds that good to me for live rock vocals. Sorry for going so long, but would love to hear any more thoughts toy have on this. You are so generous and helpful.

You could use 11/12 and just use a TRS-to-RCA adapter. This'll get you fixed up: amzn.to/3Gs3dk7

@@BrianBuckalew , thanks for your explanation. I think I have the same question. I want to use 1 stereo (korg quad) and one mono (behringer hm300) effects. I appreciated your suggestion about using group and aux together for that, but should I use 1 stereo and 1 mono channels for return? Then I want to reserve one group to send what I want to a sampler (mpc), and it returns to other stereo strip. I'm already splitting a mixer with Volcas + korg KaossPad and a Roland BK-3 to RCA, as I won't use together, despite it's bad not use BK with USB. Any comment from you will be very helpful...

I see the sans amp has an xlr output so that works for line level inputs, fortunately the Souncraft has high Z inputs as well so it could take high Z guitar pedals. What do you do if you want to run line level into your high Z guitar pedals? Do they make some kind of converter?

    • @BrianBuckalew
      @BrianBuckalew  Před 2 lety +1

That's a great question Sean. I'm not sure if there is a converter that would do this, but I would be willing to try it with some of my foot pedals and get back to you to see if I have any issues with such a setup.

@@BrianBuckalew Hi Brian, having done some google research the converter is called a re-amp box, however they can be pricey $200. dollars. I did find this one for half of that but in the comment section they said they needed to run a grounding wire with it to get the hum out of it, your mileage may vary, anyways here is a link; czcams.com/video/NkYBatgQidM/video.html&ab_channel=TaylorDanley

Nice setup mate I would definitely like to see a video like this one in Reaper DAW, if you can make a Reaper video in the future I would appreciate it, the Reaper community is suffering from this kind of setup 😔
