I love how you and your violin have separate beds. Lol.
Hey guys! Some of you realized that I say âthirdsâ but play fourths. Yes; I meant fourths - thank you for pointing it out in such a nice way! đ
Especially since itâs my first #LearnWithMe video... clearly Iâm not very good at describing what I demonstrate đđ
Hope these tips helped either way! â€ïž
Thank you, it's so great that you would take the time to share your habits and tips with us in such a humble way. I feel more encouraged to do well on my violin journey as an adult beginner with such lovely young artists like you, twoset and Ray in the field. My son is even more inspired as he advances in his guitar. God bless you all.
Thx Summia! U helped me alot
this video helped a lot, can't wait the day i receive my first violin and start learning đ
You're beatyfull, a good violin player
*Indonesian
Itâs ok đ I love you so much for your violin. Those scales are so good đ
Man, she makes the 4 octave scales look so easy and it sounds so clean đŁđ
Thats why she said practice it everyday
You don't need to warm up if you practice 40 hours a day ... if you're not already warm from the practice, your fingers will be warm from the inflammation
ling ling
Why are you on CZcams you should be practicing đ
LING LING YOU SHOULD BE PRACTICING TSKKKK
Jessica Ryan do yâall think I canât practice and type YT comments at the same time?
ahahahahaha of courseeeeeee
scales 0:44
tenths 2:53
fourths 4:32
intonation 5:02
slow practice 5:40
thirds...sounded more like fourth
no: are 4ths, not 3rds
â?
Perché mi dici questo? Ho commentato sulla musica. Da dove viene fuori questo commento? Perché?
What are tenths and fourts
4-octaves: Gmaj, Gm, Abmaj, Abmin
- In different bowings/slurs -start with 3/4 per slur
Tenths
Thirds
TIP: during slow practice make sure to move your left fingers quickly so your fingers memorize the movement :)
This is just a note for me
Yuiko Oohara yes! I also tell my students that slow practice doesnât mean slow fingers!
I'm gratfeul for this note for yourself, I couldnt understand the bonus tip, but it's clear now. :) Thx!
Fourths
When youâre on the first susuki book.
And you have no idea whatâs going on
Well thatâs me
Your comment makes me feel like a professional because I understand what she's talking about. Haha
LMAO literally me too
Tylord Wong I can relate đ
You are amazing!
I'm on the third Suzuki book and still have no idea what she's talking about đ
Itâs just wonderful to hear accomplished artists such as yourself share your guidance, tips, and experience! Iâve picked up my fiddle after a 30 year hiatus and youâve helped me tremendously with your advice as I try find my fingers again. Thank you so very much!
Steve K.
I do some Schradieck, too. I think they are very useful to warm-up left hand's fingers! đđ
(Sorry for my bad English... I'm italian)
Your english is fine! Viva Italia, with love from Romania.đ€
Multumesc. Viva l'Italiađźđč!
I cant i believe i missed everything you said i keep looking at your face so pretty
Thank you so much for this short but wonderful video đ đThis is so very helpful because you hit all the most tricky points, such as time constraints, scale-dislike, painful 10ths and best intonation identification: the bell sound of intonation, so intuitive and insightful!
I like ms sumina studer so much... Because of her i started learning violin.. and when i feel that im starting to lose hope because it's really hard for me, i just watch her videos and go back to my violin again.. She's really an inspiration! đđ
This is the first time I've seen your video and like your ideas of warming up. I'm a beginner and appreciate all the help I can get. I will follow your plan on practicing and warming up. Love it! I will definitely look you up whenever I need that extra help. Thank you so very much!
Thanks for sharing! I love how you play!đ Could you film a video on how you practice a certain piece?
sumina helped me, thanks for the video, you are fantastic!đ
This video is so far the most helpful one for me, an older guy without a teacher. G major...., the 10th (G major) really helps! Nobody has ever told me!
Thank you so much, Sumina!you are awesome!
You're an amazing player, and my 4-5th grade violin students were awed by your Paganini video. Thanks for sharing these tips...
If you have scales in your music, it is smart to play those as the warmup with different bowings and rhythms. The chromatic approach is more complete, but talking about efficiency... ;)
Simon Streuff Violin-Education totally! I do that too sometimes - but for me personally, I feel like this way gets me more âsolidâ long term đ
Sumina Studer Violinist true!! But did you know that it is said that nathan milstein never did scales? đ I found that interesting! If you ever need an argument against scales... đ
@@SimonStreuffViolinEducation Milsetin is Milstein
Unfortunately, mere mortals like us need scales
Wow I can't believe you FINALLY did a practice video :D
It's so helpful! Thank you so much
Can't wait for some more "Learn with Me" videos :)
What an excellent video. I especially liked the comment about intonation being what makes the violin ring. Not sure if these are actuall overtones but every note has a sweet spot and it is amazing the number of players who play âin tune ishâ but never consistently seek out this ringing sound.
Thank you for providing wonderful and relevant recommendations!!!
Thank you so much,Sumina!! This is very helpful.
Talented, passionate, beautiful, willing to share, amiable...how can your audiences dun like you.
Keep it up :)
This video was super helpful. It helped my intonation and shifting with scales in 3 octaves. Thanks Sumina
Thank you for this video. You are obviously a wonderful violinist and it is so nice to see good information on CZcams
Super helpful thanks!!
That last bit on slow practice is what I always tell my students! Totally referencing this video to them now
Thankyou for all tips Ms. Sumina.
Love this so much! I have young children, so practicing comes in short spurts and oftentimes ends up with my daughter begging me to play Twinkle again and again.....oof; these are all things I could be doing more consistently, thank you for the wonderful tips.
Great advice! Will try this out. Thank you, Sumina!
Thank you teacher for passing on your knowledge! đđ (Heart ringing like a bell out of joy)
Love it!! Thank you - so helpful! Tips for older beginners would be awesome (like how to increase finger dexterity, coordination, etc) đ
Very useful!! Thank you!
Yes, I definitely needed the reminder about scales...! Thanks for sharing, nothing groundbreaking by themselves viewed apart but love the way you explain the progression, makes a lot of sense. :)
Thank you for sharing your warm-up routine. Your bonus is really informative as well.
Very helpful presentation. Thank You for your suggestion !!!!!!!
Thank you! Very helpful. I like your way to explain and the reasons of doing that or those. Awaiting for new tips and tricks video đ¶
Thank sumina your tips is really helpful....I love youđđđđđ
I loved this video and it served me to practice different
Thanks for uploading this video Sumina
Das war wirklich sehr interessant, danke fĂŒr diese lebhafte Instruktion.
Even "just scales" sound amazing. Can't hear the bow direction change at all and 4 octaves! I find even 3 octaves a challenge.
You give amazing tips that help strengthen my fingers and prove my intonation! Also practicing scales help motivate and improve my intonation.
Thank you SO MUCH! You explained it very well - especially with the reasoning behind why you do what you do. Knowing this I can try octaves as a cellist, which will stretch my have similar to tenths.
Thanks, this is helpful to me. I usually practice scales for intonation but I liked what you said about finger coordination. Also I liked your comment about your violin ringing if you are in tune. Its a more motivating goal to try to make one's violin ring than to just think about being in tune.
Brilliant ! Thank you ! â€ïž
Thank youâ my teacherâ„ïžâ„ïž.. đŒđ¶đ»
when i first started learning piano i had no method(still this case). Only a count. so i counted the first few keys from left to right then right to left and thought AG was DE then found it is AG AG. But when i put together the scales i did it in a way that really did what you said. (A warm spot started lighting in my belly button when i played my left hand and right hand together in the cord sequence of the scales) it reminds me of the "ring" you said. I started playing the scale faster and faster and eventually my belly button felt like a warm liquid was in the very center of my being. Thought i'd mention. I was playing a scale back and forth like you were and then my qi stirred up. It was cool. (Yes i'm me).
saw you on two sets!! OMG. you are awesome.
thank you for this! â€ïž
This is a super cute video, thanks! I was looking for some warm up inspiration and found it interesting what you said about the violin ringing like a bell and that that means for you that you're playing in tune. It makes a lot of sense, although I've never thought about it like that. I guess I learned intonation mainly by checking with my open strings and also checking 4ths where possible... Cool to hear some different ways of thinking about it!
Iâve been playing for 5 years and I died at just the G Major scale in this video đđđđ I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW PPL R SO TALENTED
did u actually practice, cos if u did you would be talented as well
fancypurpledolphins You are not ready for 4-octave scales after only five years of study. Practice the scales your teacher assigns you. Her point is that we should always practice our scales at the beginning of our oractice sessions, and double-check our intonation.
you can say you have 5 years of experience but it doesnât really make a day if you donât practice everyday
@@orin4654 I've been learning for two years and I already do 4 octave scales, and yet my bow and intonation suck, not to mention vibrato.
to each their own time, years of learning means nothing, there are people out there with 20 years under their belt who still struggle with bad posture, poor left hand and right hand technique etc etc
Thanks a lot Sumina! This is very helpful. :)
Beautifully done â
Thanks, Sumina
as I'm beginner what a advice â
Hi Sumina! I always love to see what you're up to. Thanks for these tips. I wanted to point out one thing you were doing right (in my opinion) but didn't actually mention in your video ... NO vibrato with scales. That helps to focus on intonation.
Thank you.. this was really a helpful tips:)
Thank You Master!
Very Helpful thank you
Useful tips. Thank you.
Txs for theese helpful tips. đ§§đ
ling ling doesnt need warmup because ling ling never stop practicing
40hrs a day
Whereâs the life of ling ling
Ling ling so famous
This shows how normalized racism is normalized.
@@squidward2slick650 how irrelevant....The original comment compliments someone's ability to practice....relentlessly as the means to success and you turn it into racism. Give me a break!
Thanks!!, this video was really useful, you are the best!!, greetings from Mexico đČđœđđ»đđ»
Hey Sumina! I would really love to watch a video on how you practise, your practice routine and some practice tips
Eres genial, gracias por tus consejos, me encantaron y creo que me ayudaran de mucho.
Thank you!
thx for the tips!
Thanks for the extratip about the slow exercise. I need to watch how fast i'll go next time.
I already do the scales as a first thing, but so far i have only got 8 on a bowstring without thinking i'm dropping intonation completely.^^
Thank you soo much!!âšâ„ïžâ„ïž
Scales is amazing!! But I need to execute it corretly.. When I am in the 3th octave, that's sad haha...
Wooow Your G Scales!! Really amazing!!
About the Second Tip, the harmony is really fantastic!
THe third, do you get the D and A?
I liked it Sumina! Congrats Girl!
thanks for the tips...and lovely kurta, by the way!
Thanks Sumina, Love u! :)
lol! i love how good the scales sounds when she plays it xD i mean they are just scale and already sounds like a beatyfull piece
Thanks for the Ring the bell typ! im going to try it
Very helpful.......more tips n tutorials pleaaase.....
Still learning double and triple stops in tune, haven't gotten to to thirds, fourths and tenths yet....sooooo hard, especially for an adult beginner.
Thank you for the tips though, will be helpful in the future, I'm sure !!!! :-) LUV U SUMINA!!!!
Thanks I will try some of those scales during warm up.
i have had problems with my left hand ring finger. My whole life to this day, but this warm up has been really helpful: :)
OMG, no wonder she is so talented!
Thank you đđđ I will try.
great video; thank you
Hey Sumina, I have a HUGE admiration for you.
I started to play the violin there is now one year ago ( since november 2018 ) and it became a REAL addiction :-D
I practice around 2/3 hours per day since last year and my motivation is better everyday !
I think it can be a EXCELLENT idea if you make some tutorials ( especially for the left hand / intonation :-) ) on your channel because there is lot of " teachers " on CZcams but we never really see them play and when they play, it's often somes easy pieces on the first position only so hard to know their real " level ".
But if a violinist like YOU make some tutorials, you
would have a great credibility because your playing is just insane, awesome so I would know then that your advices are really useful and effective..
I subscribe :-) ( and sorry for my horrible english, I'm french ).
Thanks!
Ps. also a vibrato exercise would be super helpful too. ;)
Muito bom! Obrigado!!
Awesome!!! :) Thank you!!! Please more excercises!
Wonderful
Excelente!!!
I admire that you have talent for violin along with exquisite beauty and I look up to you for that :) Do you think you would consider sharing technical and expressive tips of playing violin (shifting exercises, high position scales 3 and 4 octaves, finding high notes in 5th position and up, right hand and left hand technique, playing with the correct emotion for a piece)? This warm-up has definitely helped me in miraculous ways! I'm starting to gain strength back in my fingers when practicing tenths. I would appreciate future tips and tricks from you soon!
Thnx for tip đđđ
Many thanks for your useful tips!
We love your playing and like your videos.
Could you film a video and share with us how you practise Colle, how can we practise to make the bow hand, fingers, wrist, relaxed and flexible.đ
Scales are so good! You can use them to warm up. You can use them to focus on one part of playing the violin like different bow strokes or perfecting posture and hand, wrist, and arm movements (instead of a piece so you can focus your attention to the technique, not the notes). And scales can be used to practice shifting. The lost goes on and this comment is getting a bit long. If ever you feel like not doing scales just remember that no matter how tedious they are, you're doing yourself a huge favour. Even if it's just 15 mins per practice session of scales, you can't get worse by doing them (I hope).
it is so helpful to us .....
Sheesh, I clicked for violin soundbites, but your scales are fluid and impressive. I'm subscribing....
Thanks for this amazing tip!! It's a lot of help! (By the way, I'm practicing Paganini caprice 5 and I'm watching a lot your video -it's hard to play đđ-)
that was like, literally helpful
HI! I LOVE UR CHANNEL!
I really like this video! :) Can you make a full version of warm-up? Like when you have more time to spend on it, I want more tips lol
Hi Crush! thanks for the lesson. :)
Your video's are awesome
