The little gallop at the end of the main riff in Blackened still give me a tough time sometimes. It's just all a blur when you're playing at fast speeds lol

Everything you are suggesting is correct. Even though I have been told a million times to start slow I feel when I'm learning a riff I must immediately play it at the correct speed asap. When I slow things down and play it about 17 million times as you suggested I learn the riff. I just need to break my bad habits.

Playing slowly is the only right method. I play "battery" quite quickly, but sometimes I go back to slow playing, for example after a long break

I used to do that the first years I was playing , but then figured out by slowing it down first then build up the speed, made me a much better guitar player 😎🤘 Funny you picked Battery, cause that one is a bitch if you don't start slow, it is one the riffs I have played quite often and thru the years I have builded up the speed to Seattle 89 tempo(on a good day 😅) But yeah, it is quite a smart thing to do, it will tighten your up playing by a lot 👍🤘

If you ever get bored do your chromaticall (ascend/descend) alternate picking, use just up strokes and even just down. Hand strength helps

Matt, the last powerchord of the first part of the riff is G# not A, other than that, spot on! ;)
Best way to learn, learn a riff at a time, then once comfortable play to the cd track. I always use the Tab book to check as there are many hidden notes which arent always on Songster and stuff.
Some times on songster people put to many notes, so at times your trying put extra notes in that don't fit right!

Frayed ends of Sanity is my current struggle the mid section part. But ill keep playing it until i get it correct.i struggled with Justice for all and always opted out playing it. A few weeks ago I said fuck it , took about 3 weeks to learn it play it note for note accuratley but now its one of my favourite Songs to play.

It's not "dirty reversed power chord" in fact it has nothing in common with the power chord. That's minor third, completely consonance interval. If you call this "dirty" then every minor chord in your opinion should be. Not hating you, mate, but in this case, I think you should learn some music theory or shit. Anyway, much respect for playing the riff that good
