  • Inside the LRA, 2007 - Uganda's LRA members are being offered amnesty by the government, in an attempt to promote peace, but are the victims ready to forgive?
For downloads and more information visit:
    www.journeyman.tv/57109/short-...
Lured by a government amnesty, senior commanders from the LRA are coming out of the bush and speaking about their time with Joseph Kony. In this rare report, they justify their actions.
"He is from God. What he predicts comes true", states Captain Ray Apire, explaining Kony's hold over his soldiers. "By making people suffer, he is bringing people close to God". Commanders explain how they interpreted Jesus' command to "Go and catch people", seeing it as an order to abduct children. For the first time in a decade, the government and LRA are involved in serious peace talks. But the conflict is far from over. A woman breaks down describing how her daughter was abducted the previous night. This is the second time her girl has been kidnapped so she knows she will probably be killed.

Blessings and peace to you from me in the US. This made me cry and I'm sitting comfortably in my home staying up to date with what's happening/happened in the world. We are all human beings inhabiting the same planet. What so many throughout the world suffer - horribly, horrifically suffer - breaks my heart. I feel so helpless. The only thing I know to do is stay up to date and contribute where I'm able.

The voice of sanity is the man at the end whose face was mutilated saying, "We don't want to punish them. We must forgive them. We just want them to come out of the bush and stop what they are doing."
Someone must begin the peace process, and it is often the forgivers.

These generals, these aides, of Koney, in amnesty do not appear to have remorse. I can appreciate their candor, but I don't see a change of heart from them. I may be wrong, but it seems they are being coddled, while down the road, children are still being murdered.

The interviews with ex-LRA combatants are fantastically revealing. Such a terrible situation and history, but a heroic effort to forgive and move on by the public. One man says that you would not get this anywhere in the world - while I don't believe this is true, there is hope in the fact that in the worst case scenario the solution is simple, and something that every good society has tried to propagate in some form. It's simply a shame that trust and reconciliation is not pushed as viable a solution/policy in other contexts. All it is understanding and accepting - we can do that.

I live in Ireland and I came to find this video for more information, after seeing the Kony 2012 video. There's nothing wrong with seeking more information, and exposure of issues that matter, no matter how late, is always good. Maybe one day Humanity will be kind and we will never hurt each other.

One fact that many people are not aware is that, it was British Secret Service MI-6 who trained and armed LRA. Then Sudanese Army (SPA) used them to fight against South Sudanese Army (SPLA). As south Sudan has become independent, nobody needs LRA any more. There are many more complex dynamics involved with LRA issues. We can only talk about the abductions and brutalities caused by LRA, but we will never know the geopolitics behind it, the way we do not know the politics behind creating Bin Laden and then finishing him off when he was no more needed.

You are actually wrong in your submission. Your better have good knowledge on the issue before you make comments. You clearly show your support for the ruthless northern Sudan bashir in your submission. The kony you talked about was born in northern Uganda, a former primary school teacher and while on a job in Khartoum as a security guard, things did not work out and escaped with his gun. It is while in his local village in northern Uganda in his garden and having a gun at home, felt powerful. The man was having mental breakdown and flashbacks thinking his former employers are hunting dawn. It is when he turned to God, the a preacher and before you know it, a rebel leader and later on used by Khartoum to bring war to norther Uganda. Khartoum was with information of Kampala supporting the SPLA which was true. Khartoum WA on a program of extermination of blacks and especially the oil region of kodofan. The SPLA are now in government of southern Sudan. Khartoum lost and kony is 1000 miles

I think I've seen, heard and studied enough to make my comment. I have also worked with British guys who told the the facts about the LRA being trained by MI-5. I have worked in northern Uganda where LRA was born. I have talked with thousands of LRA sympathizers and victims of LRA atrocities. So my comments are not either biased by emotion nor I have any urge to hide facts. You need moral courage to acknowledge the mistakes done by your government or nation.

We can't ignore the brutality of the LRA (or any other body employing similar tactics), but what I see as being equally, if not more shocking is the unscrupulous dealings of companies supplying such groups with weaponry. The simple truth is that you need an arms supplier to keep an army going; and to think that dealers profit from the death and heinous mistreatment of others is enough to make one lose faith in humanity. Human nature i guess.

I think it's good that they are given amnesty and that they are forgiven. As far as Kony is concerned he needs to be in an institution, locked up in a room by himself. He's crazy. Anyone who thinks that the spirits are talking to him is mentally ill. He thinks that he is living by the 10 commandments yet he is sinning constantly. You shall not murder, commit adultery you shall not steal to name a few. I also think that since he believes that he cannot die someone should put him to the test.

Fight on! God's will is for us to fight! God spares no salvation to those who beg for it.Nore is he merciful to those who would beseech his benevolence. But it's all worth it. These petty requests are no invocation to god. They're death... To truely pray you must fight! And if we pray enough...God shall rain down upon us! Heralding a New Jerusalem! Pray upon, pray upon glorius prayer! Before such lowly souls. Before all we miserable weltches.God shall descend upon us! From his heavenly realm!

@fran21ish I think this is so true. We act like us and Africa are worlds apart, but we are all 1, and we need to act like it. For the LRA to go around killing anyone doesn't need to be done, know one deserves to live a life like that. America can take apart of Africa's issue because ours is only a ressesion compared to there problem it is nothing. This being done will not only lead for a world crisis to be over, but America can show what we are made of, and the mighty country we are.

We better to look for the source of the problem instead, for the solution to the sustained damage!

@vplazz mazz mineral resources do not matter, if there is instability. if the U.S through Afrocom can help us end Kony, the better. The oil issue can be of a latter stage, when there is peace and stability in Northern Uganda.
