This ship excels when she can island hide and hop from one island to another. Just don't be so close to the island to where your rounds do not go overhead.
The Yorck is a support cruiser in every sense of the word. Hang around BBs so they can soak up the damage use your radar to spot torps from 5 km away. Keep those BBs alive. Your siding armor is awful but your bow armor is great angle in against cruisers and use your amazing AP to demolish them. The agility of the ship is great so kiting is also going to be effective. All this being said, in my opinion this ship is about mid grade for its tier. You'll have great games and bad games it will just even out. Please let me know if you try any of these tips and if they worked or failed.

She really is. Whenever I just want a ship to just wreck havoc she is my choice. But WG always knows to pick the wide open maps haha.
