  • A client asked for a platform to walk in between two areas that are accessed often. As it is now, it is somewhat potential ankle breaker which makes it a safety issue. No body wants to twist an ankle then roll down a hill...

      It depends on what equipment I can get my hands on... this was on a hill, so no forklift or anything like that... I did rough cut the material so I could move it with out help and then just put pieces together on site with a little trim to fit.... I prefer to build at the shop and then deliver the finished project, this allows me to also to work on multiple projects at the same time. The next video will be done like that. Damn it, every time I click on your videos there's another one of my favorite classical compositions! Ha! Beautiful build and job well done. I always learn something from your videos, even though it's not rocket science, it's great to watch someone build something and compressed in a small video. Question: I see a lot of your angle tools and steel supplies are all pretty clean and free of rust. Here in Florida I love it how cars last forever but bare metal flash rusts pretty quick from all the humidity and dew in the air each night. What's your favorite or go to way to stop it, clean it, or coat it with something? How do you deal with rusty steel?

    Hello JD
    We have bounced iMessage or two back-and-forth regarding the dual shield I might be into a different account so the name may not be the same anyway it’s DAVID from Toronto I’ve been having some issues And getting bounced around watching some of your videos including the ones with Jody and all the dual shield conversation has got a Bee in my bonnet.... to get into this process I just picked up and Everlast 253 dpi which I think was a mistake I have a few other Everlast machines which I have been quite happy with and can’t really say that it’s an issue With the Everlast but for whatever reason the dual shield is not readily available nor do People at Various welding suppliers here in Toronto..... once I mention dual shield if I could see their faces over the phone I’m sure they would be looking at me like I am growing horns and try to explain what the product is an even encourage them to view the product online they automatically come back to flux core wire and then they’ll tell me yes they have the product I go through the whole process again explaining it anyhow I did manage to find one welding supplier and in talking to the fellow at the counter he knew all about it which was a relief anyhow the places about half an hour in good traffic from my location.... so I get up there and he pulls out a box of Esab and this just happens to be the brand I was reading a book and I said Yep that’s it thanks so much he had one roll and I was quite happy to grab it even at almost $400 for 15 kg 1 kg = 2.2 pounds...... Not knowing too much about it just in watching your videos and I couple of other people who are doing this dual shield process but primarily you and Jody..... I got it home put it in the machine and all hell broke loose with welded contact tips black smoke so then I started inquiring further taking all the information off of the spool..... it turns out that I had a spool of 810 X which requires 100% CO2! I did not know this as I had read somewhere 75/25 was the standard! Once I saw this and realized I went and picked up a small tank of 100% CO2... so I got the CO2 back got everything set up and pretty excited because now I’ve got the full story and ready to go I don’t know how it was possible but I got and awesome bead..... right off the hop with a nice slag peel I was amazed!! But for some reason I could not duplicate this and The results were getting worse! I ended up contacting Esab and the fellow I was speaking with said no no no no you don’t want 10 you want 710.... I thought great now I’m stuck with $400 worth of Something I can’t use I thought well I’ll call the welder supplier and see what they say luckily they asked me how much of the wire I used and I told them maybe 10 feet off this spool if that! They told me to bring it back and they would order the 710x Which is what I believe the fellow from the Esab suggested.... I got the 710 X about a week later and I was also told by the manufacturer that you can use it with 100% CO2 or 75/25 or I believe he said 92/8 or 92/10 I can’t remember exactly I brought this to my shop and have tried it with the 7525 and with the hundredpercent CO2 I have tried everything, turning Up the flow rates of the shielding gases turning the flow rate down basically everything from 10 GPM up to 40 and 50 GPM and everything in between and it doesn’t seem to matter.... I can get what appears to be a nice bead but once I get the slag off it is full of porosity Lots of warm holes after reading more I think that I was supposed to order 710M Not the X line.... But it seems that everyone has a different opinion And also talk to one person and they say that you’re and also talk to one person and they say that the mig gun should be positive polarity basically depending on the machine you have a positive and a negative post inside the machine in this case if you were putting the Mig gun on Positive your ground is now negative if you were putting Your Mig gun on negative your ground is now positive..... Typical flux core runs with mig gun on negative and ground on positive unfortunately it doesn’t seem to matter which shielding gas are use or the amount of shielding gas and it does not seem to make a difference if I am on electrode positive or electrode negative I believe I should be electrode negative for the dual shield. I know that you would be pretty much classified as an expert with the dual shield! Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!
    David Burnell

    • @jdbrewer6638
      @jdbrewer6638  Před 5 lety

      Man, that's alot to unpack.... first when you said $400/spool I instantly thought that's how much a spool of stainless wire would cost... so maybe that's something. Second, with any wire that uses shielding gas, the wire is pos+ (gasless fluxcore is the only wire run neg-) Third, the wire I'm running now is esab 7100x, the Lincoln wire I run is 71m.... I dont know the difference between the x and m.... right now I'm running .o45 esab 7100x on pos+ at 24v and 270ipm

    Epic Mr. Brewer. I never expected any less. I know I haven't commented on a video for a while. But I'm back. Anyways 2 questions.... first if I ever make my way to Georgia will u teach me to root a pipe.. I'm so close but not close enough to take a test for a company....Secondly how do u keep your beard from bursting into flames? Are u so kick A$$ that it's just naturally flame retardant? Or some wizardry???...
