all devices should be on 145 and 165hz with over 600hz touch rate in year 21 and 22. apple knew applesheeps would buy them even if it 60hz. samsung does the same thing now. they used to give 256gb with micro sd now its all 128with no micro sd. no 165hz, no 600hz touch rate and no charger. its all because they know people still gonna buy it
I am honestly amazed that non-professionals are still excited by upgrades to the camera, I am so bored of it being continuously touted as the main upgrade every year. Boring boring boring.
As someone that takes photos a lot of my family it’s the one feature I always look out for. I look back at old photos and videos over the years and I always notice the bump in quality. The details being clearer. Portrait mode. Clearer shots at night time was so important that I could just rely on my phone as my main camera. Being able to zoom in from a distance and higher frame rate when I’m at sports events for my kids. It makes me wish I had upgraded sooner as I can’t go back. Personally, I hope it continues to bore you as I get to have better memories of my Family and friends.

Well that much is clear. But the Apple name is built on the innovation of Steve Jobs. I wouldn't pretend to think that the plot has been lost since he's been out of the picture. Everything "special" about Apple is from the past, and that is making it look more and more dated by the day. "New phone colors!" "Another camera!" They are tiptoeing forward and straddling the line of what is actually acceptable for a price point. The only thing I admire about Apple is their business model. It is very good at getting you into their system, and making it hard for you to want to leave. Your comment proves this, because you are saying that resting in mediocrity is comfortable. As a fellow Brit, I'm just hoping they don't go down the E-Sim route with the 16 Pro max like they have with the 15 pros in the US. I had all sorts of Problems sorting an E -Sim out for my latest iPad pro. Don't want to go through that again, so if it is a conventional Sim tray, I'll probably upgrade my 15 Pro Max.
When I travel abroad I always get a local sim for business, how is it possible with esim? Getting rid of both trays is another dumb move like the headphone jack.

I was gonna wait till April to get 16 Pro Max but since it's not gonna be that different and I got a $280 discount on an already discounted price I bit the bullet and bought it. I have no regrets because the money is tight right now I ''only'' spent $1315 for the 256gb version. It was around 2045 when it launched here. I'm expecting the 16 to be even more expensive so I got 15 now to replace my aging 12 Pro (gonna sell it for 320) and I'm gonna get 17 next year.
Should’ve keep the slanted camera, iPhone 16 seems like a downgrade to me in terms of aesthetic, colors are nice though, will definitely buy the green or pink one if it’s a pro design. @thetechchap the overheating isn’t just a ‘new phones’ issue, my 12 Pro Max is regularly overheating from minor usage throwing up that temperature warning rendering the phone a hot brick until it cools down. Literally having to hold it in the fridge or feeezer for a few moments to help it cool down. All since upgrading to iOS 17.3. Was totally fine before that so it’s software not hardware - surprise surprise - and doesn’t seem exclusive to the new ones. Seems to be the same on iPhone 11 too as my friend has it all the time.
My current phone is an iPhone 11 - I think it's time to upgrade and I have been keeping my eye on the 16 either a base or a Pro. I will need to see what the benefits are for the higher spec (cameras are certainly a factor) - so keen to hear what real world experience is like. The Apple AI stuff is interesting but there are a lot of unknowns at this stage and could be seen as gimmicky... Either way (base or Pro) an upgrade to iPhone 16 is going to be a big step up and I'm keen to experience it. Also, my youngest gets to have my old phone so she will be happy with that!

Not an early adopter (don't have that kind of disposable income) but will be watching what Apple Intelligence can really do - if it does provide a good productivity boost then will consider and upgrade. Happy with my 13 - does the job for what I need it to do. Yeah could use better camera but honestly for vacation photos - its not a deal breaker.

I totally agree with the point about better thermal performance being such a significant feature. It seems so trivial to most people, I'm sure, and it has improved some on the 15 Pro Max, which I currently use, but we've had this screen dimming issues on the iPhone since at least the iPhone X (I don't remember it being present on the 6 Plus, 6s Plus or 7 Plus, all of which I owned as well). Using the phone outside or in a warm car, running a youtube video in the background with a few other apps open in the background and browsing some 13 or so Safari tabs; the screen WILL dim. And I use my phone like that on every work lunch break. If I upgrade this year, it will be for the better thermal performance alone (I don't care about the other hardware updates, and AI will run on the 15 Pro Max anyway; and I would be much more excited about a 48mp 5x lens than the ultrawide, which I barely use). (Edit: I commented before finishing the video; i didn't previously hear a rumor about an improved telephoto lens; that would be awesome if we get that!)
I’m on the 12 pro max too.. every iPhone supports updates for 5 years (even 6 sometimes) but 5 is a promise.. which clearly means that the life of an iPhone is 5 years easily. As tempting as it seems, I rather use my entire money’s worth for 5 years and then upgrade to the 17 pro max next yr with 512 Gb storage (my 12 pro max is currently 256 Gb) I also heard that the 17 pro max next year will have a smaller dynamic island and will also have 12 Gb ram, which would make it a mega upgrade from the 12 pro max.
If you can, skip the iPhone 16 and wait for the iPhone 17 instead; that's where the significant changes will happen. It's also highly likely that they will unveil their first foldable phone then.

Don't beleive in everything what you saw on a youtube video. Isn't Apple said they are also out of the foldables when they also said they are stopped their car project? (That time a few other manufacturers also said they won't release any more foldables). The sales on the foldables are still low, if you combine the flip+fold from Samsung, the sales together is still under the iPhone Mini sales.. you know the phone what was discontinued because of the low sales.. (their sales was about less than 5% of the yearly sales, alias other 3 models sold in average 7x better..) So why should Apple release a phone with even lower possible sales like the iPhone Mini?
as I still have an XR that's slowly falling apart (with IOS 18 beta) I kinda feel forced to upgrade to 16, maybe I will get a 15 with price drops, but I will probably still go with the 16
Telephoto lenses on iPhones are a scam, as the sensor size for that part of the camera is a fraction of the size of the standard camera, at best. I wish iPhone would go back to the one camera/lens design and dimly keep improving that.

I've completely moved away from iPhones because of all the limitations iOS has especially on large display phones. Android, specifically Samsung just does multitasking better and I can't give that up until they match it or surpass it.
@@seanlacroix I'm on the beta on both my iPhone 15 and iPad Air. It's great that they are finally adding feature we have been asking for years to let you customize. But they still have not done anything when it comes to multitasking on iPhone like you can on Android. Especially with these bigger and bigger phones, no reason why they can't let you do split screen, floating apps, something. They could easily copy some of the features from iPadOS but they choose not to. Painful! Also, as a long time apple fan boy, I can tell you that iPhone hardware is just so boring. The option and diversity on Android is unmatched at this point. I'm lucky that I can make my daily work phone an Android and still keep a personal iPhone that I use less and less.

Even for content creators 60hz is more than enough. Not many people are making content in higher refresh rates. Makes sense of gaming was the focus. But it’s apple. I don’t think they care much about mobile gaming. I don’t even think most people that own an iPhone use their phone with gaming in mind. The battery life and longevity would suffer. Cant really expect more features when we can’t increase the size of batteries enough to include features that require more battery. Adding features that decrease battery life is a bad move.
I really hope they make a colourful pro! I don't want to downgrade to a base model just for a nice colour. Pink, red , purple, blue, yellow, green, Give us something please! I will be upgrading regardless, currently on an iPhone 11 which I love dearly but it's getting slow, storage is small and battery doesn't last

I’m not a yearly upgrader but instead of getting a battery replacement for my iPhone 13 Pro, I think I’m going for the iPhone 16 Pro so I know for sure I’ll be set for another 3 years. Not an early adopter (don't have that kind of disposable income) but will be watching what Apple Intelligence can really do - if it does provide a good productivity boost then will consider and upgrade. Happy with my 13 - does the job for what I need it to do. Yeah could use better camera but honestly for vacation photos - its not a deal breaker.
The 60 hz screen on a base model of iphone is ok I just shouldn't buy it and never think about it , but to launch an M2 ipad with 60 hz display means that Tim cook is just looking for troubles at this point😂

I totally agree with the point about better thermal performance being such a significant feature. It seems so trivial to most people, I'm sure, and it has improved some on the 15 Pro Max, which I currently use, but we've had this screen dimming issues on the iPhone since at least the iPhone X (I don't remember it being present on the 6 Plus, 6s Plus or 7 Plus, all of which I owned as well). Using the phone outside or in a warm car, running a youtube video in the background with a few other apps open in the background and browsing some 13 or so Safari tabs; the screen WILL dim. And I use my phone like that on every work lunch break. If I upgrade this year, it will be for the better thermal performance alone (I don't care about the other hardware updates, and AI will run on the 15 Pro Max anyway; and I would be much more excited about a 48mp 5x lens than the ultrawide, which I barely use). (Edit: I commented before finishing the video; i didn't previously hear a rumor about an improved telephoto lens; that would be awesome if we get that!)

I’m on the 12 pro max too.. every iPhone supports updates for 5 years (even 6 sometimes) but 5 is a promise.. which clearly means that the life of an iPhone is 5 years easily.
As tempting as it seems, I rather use my entire money’s worth for 5 years and then upgrade to the 17 pro max next yr with 512 Gb storage (my 12 pro max is currently 256 Gb) I also heard that the 17 pro max next year will have a smaller dynamic island and will also have 12 Gb ram, which would make it a mega upgrade from the 12 pro max.

If you can, skip the iPhone 16 and wait for the iPhone 17 instead; that's where the significant changes will happen. It's also highly likely that they will unveil their first foldable phone then.

Don't beleive in everything what you saw on a youtube video. Isn't Apple said they are also out of the foldables when they also said they are stopped their car project? (That time a few other manufacturers also said they won't release any more foldables). The sales on the foldables are still low, if you combine the flip+fold from Samsung, the sales together is still under the iPhone Mini sales.. you know the phone what was discontinued because of the low sales.. (their sales was about less than 5% of the yearly sales, alias other 3 models sold in average 7x better..) So why should Apple release a phone with even lower possible sales like the iPhone Mini?

Telephoto lenses on iPhones are a scam, as the sensor size for that part of the camera is a fraction of the size of the standard camera, at best. I wish iPhone would go back to the one camera/lens design and dimly keep improving that.

Such a bummer that Apple Intelligence won’t be coming to phones like 14 PM or even 13 PM. Surely they could’ve but chose not to to sell their new phones and get more people to upgrade.
I've completely moved away from iPhones because of all the limitations iOS has especially on large display phones. Android, specifically Samsung just does multitasking better and I can't give that up until they match it or surpass it.
iOS 18 is really good and is a good reason to stay with iPhone.
@@seanlacroix I'm on the beta on both my iPhone 15 and iPad Air. It's great that they are finally adding feature we have been asking for years to let you customize. But they still have not done anything when it comes to multitasking on iPhone like you can on Android. Especially with these bigger and bigger phones, no reason why they can't let you do split screen, floating apps, something. They could easily copy some of the features from iPadOS but they choose not to. Painful! Also, as a long time apple fan boy, I can tell you that iPhone hardware is just so boring. The option and diversity on Android is unmatched at this point. I'm lucky that I can make my daily work phone an Android and still keep a personal iPhone that I use less and less.

I’m planning to upgrade after the pre-order craze is over - maybe in October, but only because my iPhone 13 is getting a bit slow, not because there’s amazing features upcoming. I’ll have to wait it out and see if anything unusually good happens.

Ross Young has a timeline on the various iPhone screens. The iPhone 17 should see 120Hz on the base models, but not the iPhone 16. The Pro 17 should see embedded Face ID under the screen.

Yea we need better cooling big time. Also hope the batteries are better. Not even 1 year and my 15pro is at 90%health. Now part of that is my fault and how I use and charge my phone, but still seems much worse than it should be.
Wow, my phone is about 9 month old and still at 100%, and I charge to 100% every night using MagSafe.

Even for content creators 60hz is more than enough. Not many people are making content in higher refresh rates. Makes sense of gaming was the focus. But it’s apple. I don’t think they care much about mobile gaming. I don’t even think most people that own an iPhone use their phone with gaming in mind. The battery life and longevity would suffer. Cant really expect more features when we can’t increase the size of batteries enough to include features that require more battery. Adding features that decrease battery life is a bad move.
I really hope they make a colourful pro! I don't want to downgrade to a base model just for a nice colour. Pink, red , purple, blue, yellow, green, Give us something please!
