  • Mariana Mazzucato is a Professor of Innovation and Public Value at UCL, and a Director of the Institute of Innovation and Public Purpose. She advises policy-makers on how to better create inclusive growth at a large scale, and was named one of the 3 most important thinkers about innovation by the New Republic.
In this video, Mazzucato explains how many of the ideas and developments which we see as being an offshoot of private innovation are actually a function of public funding and investment.

I assume the reason why there are so few comments is the same reason why the comment section in the World Economic Forum's channel is completely blocked.

i am leftist but if capitalism can be managed that way, i am for it, it looks like a minimum managment of greed disigned for the public intrest. surely when you manage capital you somehow manage the power that correlates with its money, but is it enough? i dont know, all i know that every thing she said is basic common sense and should always had been done but it wasint because obviously the power that comes with the capitalism shifted the policy from the public to the private intrests. and that has led the world where it is now, with mind bogiling facts like 90 coorporates are responsible for 50% of emmisions, how is that for the public intrest, we know everything about the climate 50 years ago, but as the tobacco industry did with cancer research oil companies did exactly the same, spread the ignorance scientifically.
