I started watching Feliks when youtube recommended me his 7.03 WR single back in like 2010. From there I've watched every video he's uploaded since. I watched as the WCA records page slowly just turned into his PB reference guide. I've watched all of the "dream matches" over the years from both side's perspectives, as well as many one-off competitors from all throughout his time that he has taken down in various events and podiums. And still can't put what it is about him that sets him apart from the rest. The Feliks solve is just the Feliks solve. It's smooth. It's efficient. It's easy-watching. When you watch a Feliks 4, it's different from the rest. His 4.16 and 4.22 have more majesty than most 3's on the results page.
Pleskowicz, Nakajima, Cohen, Hessler, Valk, Weyer, Hays, Park, Borromeo, Kolasiński, Wang. All names relevant during The Zemdegs Era of cubing. Just pick one of those names out and think about it: let's take Yu Nakajima for example. He's held 20-something continental records and a few world records. After a quick fact-check, he's also won 138 gold medals across various events. And yet it seemed so long ago; how many of us remember so much as the yearspan of those achievements? THAT'S how long Feliks has been not only in this game, but relevant in some way. And after all of these years, he can still keep up with the next generation of cubers, all in some way affected by his shaping of the community that he's still a part of, through his inspiration, guidance, and simple polite actions (like pushing in his chair when he gets up from a solve). He's quite literally battling the generation he raised.
Feliks is doing big boy stuff now, having been through college and continuing his professional life. In 10 years, if Feliks only uploads one video every 3 months of a 8.6 average, I'll still be inspired. His reach is immense in this community, and even if he remotely keeps cubing throughout the years, I will always be inspired to cube to some degree, and so will a massive part of the community. I wonder what it's like to start an empire where you're 12. Some people like to say that Max Park, Tymon Kolasiński, and/or Yiheng Wang are the new inspiration. They are, but they don't replace what is done. Arnold Schwarzenegger is still a bodybuilding inspiration, after all. The new generation of greats walk beside Feliks, not in front of him. If Feliks by some chance sees this, I hope you keep cubing in some form throughout your life. I don't know what your plan is for your competitive future, but even if you stop cubing entirely (which I don't see), you will always be the center of this community through your legacy. I hope you keep turning, man.
Thanks so much for the lovely words mate! I hope cubing stays (mostly) fun and I stay active for a long time too :)
@@fzemdegscubing will be pointless and absurd without you. You are the inspiration of soo many fast cubers .I sometimes think that if you wouldn't started cubing the world record single would be like 6-7 seconds 😂 .
You pusher the world record and inspired others like temon ,max, yehang and Leo to start cubing and break records
Huge respect man 💪🐐🏆🏆🏆
This footage is so crispy
Fantastic 😮 Miss you guys!
ppl cud average 3 seconds in the next few years but feliks wud still be my goat

Felix Zemdegs really is the GOAT of cubing.
Ligit. 🗿zemdegs is my goat.
Real
There’s a difference between being the fastest and being the greatest
It just feels good to see you solve, Feliks! Love you and thank you!
I come from Poland and I'm glad that Tymon Kolasiński is in the top, but you are my idol because I learned to solve cubes in 2008-2009 and you were the top for many years.
The legend is still great after all these years! Keep it
Competed exceptionally well Zemdegs 👐👏
Just goes to show one of best record setters is still able to pressure new talent, was great to see both of you in the final.
A great inspiration to myself and others to keep pushing your cubing goals.
it's amazing to see that this guy still holds up these days
Always good to see Feliks rock low 6 averages in head to head against other top cubers
Amazing footage, was a pleasure to commentate over these solves! Congrats on the 6x6 OcR aswell!
James McAvoy is getting good at that Rubik's cube
Congrats
What better to watch than two legends in a head-to-head final. PS: Petiton to have great commentary in more videos.

@@cuberious1419 Yeah, Jay commentary is a big win for every video.

I was at this comp. Was amazing to see and Tymon in action. Did Tymon come down for the Aussie open as well?
He went to the AO almost every day he was in Melbourne excluding the competition days!
@@fzemdegs That's some commitment right there. Look forward to seeing you guys in future comps!

Tymon on that last solve was like: ehh I'm winning the comp anyway and I can't get ER so might as well just get it over with.

Bro got the US nationals 2018 average
"6.54 is a good start" over a second from his pr 😑
Felix zemdegs ots Giovanni Zago good job
Why isn't Tymon happy to win ?
He is not happy about his performances, not about the win.
@@samueljehanno Thanks for the explanation.
👍🏼!
2 minutes ago what
I want Felix to break world record
Sir
Teach me how to solve rubix cube in 10 second
6.9 and he wasn’t happy I am happy when I do it under 10
Feliks i know you cant practice as much as you used to but i cant understand why havent you got to the level of sub 6 consistently.. I mean you got your first official sub 6 like 12 years ago yet you dont get them consistently.
