Are these two oil pumps the same? Is my second hand pump usable? Today we find out Follow me on instagram at STK20 Like and subscribe to keep up with my builds
Grateful to have seen this video, badass information. I wanna put a k20z3 head on my k20a3 and I was worried about the oil pump and whether or not I'd have to get a type s oil pump or if I can get still use the a3 oil pump
I just pulled a oil pump from a k20a3 mine looked brand new remember to also take the bolts that come with the pump an the windage tray with all the 10mm bolts i forgot the chain for the pump but ill just buy a new one for peace of mind. I only paid $26.00 US dollars for it
Great video, saves a good bit of research. I went from a dc5 k20a3 to a k24, took the oil pump from the dc5 k20a3 as it was still in good condition. Port/Polished with the washer mod. Almost 10,000km later, still going strong. I do wonder if I could slap on the stock k24 oil pump onto the k20a3, since it'd be like recreating the EP3 k20a3 engines. (They had similar pumps)
And thank you, I myself had struggled to find info so figured I’d share it I do feel I could have made the video a bit more informative and what not but hey I’m only new 😂
I changed the pump on my k20z3 to this used k20a3 pump. Got all hardware needed along for the swap, while on the dyno it spun a bearing while getting tuned. Could it be because the Oil pump. The only other mod was dc 3.2 cams with valves and retainers.
Sorry to hear that man, no one deserves that to happen however In all honesty it could be a number of things, even as simple as a clogged pick up or if the car has had a sketchy service record before you it could have a clogged journal ect you will have to tear it down to get a better idea of what happened. If the motor came with the balance shaft style oil pump it probably needed a hole plugged as if it’s not then you wont have very good oil pressure, the oil pumps a3 and type s are a fairly basic design not a lot can go wrong with them so I would be assuming other reasons
Yes because they are not the same! This is a great video I love the Honda community but this information is incorrect the A3 pump is not the same as the A2 pump.
Finally some wiseman...hi bro from malaysia

I’m looking to do the same thing. K20Z3/A3 on the EP3!
great video bro 🤜🤛💯

I don’t see why not however the k24 style pump is fairly undesirable

@@Streetk20 oh haha, it's so it becomes a usable engine again xD.
@@Streetk20 nah you're alright, saved someone an hour of researching on different forums and compiled it into a short video. Goes a long way!
@@djdocdman in that case if you use the appropriate oil pump parts I.e chains ect then yeah should work
Does the k20a base have the better oil pump as well?
What about the pressure relief valve spring tension .
Normal the by pass piston spring has little more pressure

yes
Does this mean the ep3 have a “type s pump” too?
If it looks the same as these two then yes
No ep3 has a balancer oil pump only the rsx has this oil pump
@@mprism7985 depending what part of the work you are in, pretty sure ep3 type r will have this pump.
Bro can you compare the crankshaft aswell, cheers
Do these two pumps have different part no.s??
Fair question I will try and get back to you when or if I find the appropriate answer
@@Streetk20 appreciate that

The part number is the same
Is it the same oil pump ?
Yes
@@Streetk20 thank you! Do you know if the rbc is the same as the base rsx ?
@@josecunsako31 rbc oil pump? No if it doesn’t look like these two it’s best not to use it
@@Streetk20 no I’m talking about rbc 50*degree cam gear and rsx base pdn cam gear. Are they the same ?
@@josecunsako31 I’ll make a short video in the next coming days showing the differences 👌
Thanks for the info but just a pro tip: nobody wants the intermission audio to be 4x louder than your voice. Please, normalize that useless audio.
I wasn’t aware it was like that sorry it seemed normal on final run through before upload
