Good video! I have owned the H6D-50C and it was an amazing camera. After 2 years of ownership, I sold it and purchased the H6D-100C. It is superior to anything I have ever used for portraiture, weddings, and commercial work. I do think some parts of the process could be automated, but the cost of designing, building, and implementing that system would add cost to the cameras. The cost of the initial automation would be passed on the to end user. I like the fact that each camera is hand built , tested, and calibrated.

The new x2d are amazing, the img qualities is already beyond any camera out there. The color, the sharpness and details.
So yeah..I think it's definitely worth it to spend a bit more just to get that kind of quality in your images.

The sharpness does not come from the camera.

All CCD's Digital Backs was made by Kodak and Dalsa .The CMOS was making by Sony and for 1st time was used in Pentax 645z and now in Fuji GFX, Hasselblad X even Leica in M11 have a probably Sony 60Mpx sensor :D .Im not sure just in case of Hasselblad H6D - 100c

great video, but one more thing with this, as they are describing the H-system, more specifically the H6D, these camera systems have ONE sensor, which is calibrated to this BODY (the one sold with it), so every lens, and the camera's separation distance ( from lens mount to sensor plane) is calculated, and added to the algorithm in the processing chip of this back, so it self-corrects any CA/ Vignetteing, etc. all before it gets to the phocus software, which further adds lens calibration, asa/iso noise cancelling and other correction data to the file, THIS is the WHY in the $$$$ all of this precision allignment and adjustments.

Thanks a lot for the insights! I guess this is why hasselblad is not for everyone, only the ones who care about these details would appreciate the value of it.

HB cameras are expensive for two reasons.. HB has a «trade in» meaning they want you to take your what they call, «outdated» 34 000,- dollar camera and trade it in to a new one. The actual price of a HB camera is about half of the price they are selling the camera for, and they still make a shitload of money. When someone pays 34000,- for a camera, they are assxxxed. No doubt that the cameras are great, and I have had H1, H2, H3 and H5.
Then there is the bling factor.. it is supposed to be expesive as Gucci an so on..
    Hand made makes it expensive?
Thats BS… How much does a person assembling these make a year? They say in the video that it takes 6-8 hours to assemble it.. Check the average salary in Sweden and you will find out that this simply doesn’t make sense at all.
HB cameras are great, using a H camera is like using a brick.. but the files are amazing.. I have sold my all my HB equipment..
If I am not completely wrong, the company that designed the H camera system, was Fujifilm.. Their «large format» camera cost a fraction..

Well...Actually you can find an used (older) one in nice working conditions for only $2-3.000, and most of the HC lenses have currently dropped the price of over 80% which makes them a truly bargain for the price...

The Hasselbald cameras are amazing. It is quite a pity that the camera and - even more - the lenses have such a big price tag. Considering the smal number of cameras sold, an automated manufacturing line will not be worth the investment.

I guess it very similar to high end fashion brands, they keep the supply low and most parts are handcrafted! The only difference is that cameras are technically much more useful that clothes😅

The profit margin high. 15 grand would be more affordable.

Given the very high investment for the product developement, I assume there is hardly a profit.

I wonder... you see a million megapixels image on your computer, you see actually 1000x980px image. Let's say, you created an image which does not need to be cropped. Why do you need more megapixels to see this image on your computer? Yes, it's more flexible to have more pixels but... really... just wonder

I have printed images as large as 30x45 and you can indeed see the true medium format look. The larger the print, the more evident the benefit of this high resolution becomes. Try to think of medium format as its own way of shooting; do not compare it to DSLR's. Medium format shooters shoot the cameras in the way they were designed; not through the thought lens of comparison to DSLRs.
