I used to conduct all of interviews at my previous company. While we didn't ask this particular question, I can 100% confirm that this is the best approach! Not that you need my endorsement or anything haha
Interesting, so what your emphasizing is self awareness of actual weaknesses that aren’t deal breakers, but showing that you’re actively doing things to improve or manage those weaknesses.
Weakness: Some people might say I procrastinate, but I like to think it's the lack of understanding when something needs to be finished. Like, if you give me an assignment, do you need it done by the end of the hour, day, week? Solution: Giving clear deadlines will help me be able to prioritize my workload and stay on schedule.
Did my interview in Japanese. My interviewer asked me how my friends would describe me in terms of strength and weakness. I literally told him that I can be impatient and will get angry (most times) but I do my best to control my emotions; he laughed so loud saying that he appreciates my honesty. He is now my manager. 😂
Is it possible to frame the “perfectionist” in a better way? Because it IS one of my wesknesses. Not in the stereotypical way, but more in the: ever since middle school I’ve been performing so well that I haven’t learned how to fail/deal with performing less and so now as an adult I either do really well or have a breakdown because I never learmed how to deal with setbacks related to my performance”. This is something I have been working on by trying to accept that doing 50% is better than 0%, but I know that this can still come off the wrong way. Is there another way to phrase this, or is it better to pick a different weakness?
I used that just yesterday at a job interview! In a realistic way tho. They asked me what my greatest strengths and weaknesses were and I told them I had one that applies to both. Perfectionism is, on one hand, great if you want to deliver outstanding performance. You think everything through, you do your best, you pay attention to details, never miss an opportunity to learn and grow. On the other hand, it leaves you overstimulated, burnt out, and tired asf. Perfectionism often goes hand in hand with taking up unnecessary tasks and polishing what isn't really supposed to be touched. That by no means contributes to productiveness. I freaking got sacked from my first job because of this. Oh and yeah you're never really satisfied with your work so that leads us to constant frustration and anxiety too. It does have two sides to it! Perfectionism is unrealistic and that's a legit issue to address
@@loganrogers4560 But I am being honest when I say that though. The need to do everything perfectly tends to paralyze you and it's hard to get started. It's also hard to let go of a task because you tend to keep working on it even after it's done.
I have a tenancy to micromanage too much but I am working on it by giving people more freedom and trusting them with the task i give them. Is this an okay answer?
Thank you for the help i tend to freeze up when any interview qustion is asked as i overthink it. and sadly it has cost me a few interviews.. been formulating ansews in word now.
I never got asked those kinds questions ..is very personal..but if I did you should not be answering it directly but in a general way that makes it sound like a superpower..like " I'm too caring and take on other people's needs too much" 😂 At the end of the day they dont care what your responses are about, they are interested in HOW ypu respond. Always keep it professional sounding..It's really none of their business what your biggest weakness is..but how you interact in a working environment like the interview is . 😂

what do all these corporate people do exactly? honest question? I mean they aren't making anything and they aren't serving anyone and they're not doing physical labor and they aren't doing anything in the medical field so what do they get paid so much money for?
My greatest weakness. That I spent my whole life working for normie sheeple who don’t know any other way of life but pulling other people into their traps of giving their lives for chump change instead of building their own empires and generational wealth.
It's a humble brag. Being a perfectionist is a good thing in many work contexts. It could give the impression that you aren't self aware or willing to own up to your shortcomings, or even are egotistical. Obviously none of those things are true- nobody wants to tell a stranger that you're gonna work for your shortcomings, but eh.
@@lanecuthbert1606i have used it, but combined with pointing out all the real negative sides of it, wasting time, getting stuck doing something useless / losing track of time, and as improving actively trying to let things be/accepting them as good enough, and trying to focus on prioritizing.
Fake corporate question and fake corporate answers. If anyone asks you this question in an interview just know that they're lazy and judgemental. There is no reason to ask this question unless you're looking for arbitrary reasons not to hire people.
Yeah I generally assume any place that would ask this is probably not some place I want to work. However there are always exceptions, and if it were a person's dream company/position, this is a good way to approach the question. Also a lot of younger folks interviewing for entry level and low skilled jobs will probably be asked this one too, so it may be helpful to them!
This question can provide insight into whether someone wants to work on improving themselves and whether they can accept constructive criticism. Also, whether they have any insight into themselves. I don't understand how it is lazy? Everyone has weaknesses; it's not like it's an irrelevant question.
I think this question as stupid as I thought it was, shows self-awareness. You don't have to tell your darkest secrets, just a genuine flaw you're trying to improve on upon making some good soul searching. If you were to fail in a project, I'd say you're more willing to approach the failure and asses what went wrong, what you did wrong and what you can do about it🤷♀️ it isn't fake if you don't make it so!

My greatest weakness is that I'm too honest
We don't think that's a weakness.
I don't give a f**k what YOU think.
So true. Been trying to find a job recently and this gave me a better outlook on interview questions. Thanks for the help!!
