it always amazes me how fast some of these athletes are expected to recover
something like that would take me out the whole tournament lol
These athletes are like wolverine. They are expected to heal in seconds.
They have 24/7 rehabilitation treatments, so that helps
Depends on the grade of the sprain. It's obviously not a rupture because he played for 10 minutes after that. Looks to be grade 2/3 ankle sprain that can be anywhere between 1week to 1 month
you dont get to use the magic juice to recover
😂😂😂
After having just sprained my ankle the exact same way. I feel this.
How long did it take u to recover?
Similar happened with me a year ago it took me 2 months to recover but with advanced technology maybe he can be back in few days or alteast a week
Yeah man. It is horrible. For Neymar, he was after a fair bit part of team that legimately WC finalists atleast. His presence is key to that goal.
@@virtualcity721 for me it was like 3 weeks to feel normal again
@@panditas7679 he has the best medical care money can buy, so he should be fine by next week and completely healed in 3 weeks

Thanks again for an informative video doctor 👍
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving
if the audio still isn't working, idk..third time I've exported and uploaded. works on my end :/
its good. got all qualities available now
No problems on my end Doctor Brian!
It’s working here too :)
2:32 docs kid in the background? 😂
Thanks Doc for discussing the mechanism of injury of what happened to Neymar Jr. Thankfully he didn't got worse injury such as fracture.
In longterm perspective I think fracture is better than ligament tear.
He’s known as a diver, flopper etc. but when he really gets injured it’s serious, this is nothing compared to his injury last year vs Saint-Etienne in the Ligue 1 it’s worse 😬
He’s a diver but people do try to cheap shot him a lot. They do that to all top guys.
And definitely not worse then 2014 wc injury
The man does not dive
When was actually the last time he dived in a competition game not a casual game
Tbh in this game they were hitting him hard
I've had a sprain like that; I tripped at speed on an uneven surface. Boy it hurts, and good luck trying to run on it.
Great explanation!
I never understand how people who are not professional footballers insults him by calling a diver. You can fall on contact. Else defenders are generally merciless. This happens to him every game. He knows what he is doing. He has drawn fouls in the past, doesn’t mean anyone on the pitch deserves injury inducing tackles.
If they played in rhe field
The will be useless shit..
What I don’t like is that he keeps crying on the ground long enough that it hurts the team, god knows how many times I’ve seen a defender simply go past him with the ball because he’s trying to get a foul
@@Chadius_ThundercockHe have to do what ever he want to do inside the field..its a game..
@@vavaqulama7151 he can do whatever he likes, doesn’t mean I have to like it
9 FOULS BY KICKING AND STOMPING!...IN ONE DAMN GAME!!!
Thank you four the information, I always see your videos, they are excellent and so helpful 😇
Greetings from Chile 🙏
Not often you get a photo of the foot like that, after an injury to see and analyze it. I'm sure that helped tremendously. And glad it won't keep iNeymar out long, if at all.
my man got fouled so many times. Most of any player so far in the tournament by a margin
Your man kept falling and diving over and over again. I get that he got injured and Im sorry for him but this was unintentional and a bit deserved in my opinion. The guy spent more time laying on the pitch rather than playing.
@@acaredzic9319 I hate Neymar as much as the next person! But he wasn’t diving at all. The boy is keeping his game consistent.
But the fame of diver stuck on him…
@@acaredzic9319keep hating u npc
@@ericliu4601 Dont hate him at all. I respect him as a player. But you should know that he dives a lot and when he actually gets hurt no one believes him. By the way from your comment I got that you are a Neymar fanboy and that you are no older than 10.
This man giving me hope
Got the same injury last week playing Basketball. Foot had the same bump and really swollen. It hurt the first two days to just walk with that foot. Got prescribed a cream for the swollen and some pills. Day 4 I feel much better. No more pain but foot still bruised and a bit swollen but don’t have those big bumps anymore.
Please post those medicines
Any updates? Can you function and play normally now?
Do ankle rehab!! Build up your ankle and knee tendons
@@thuunder9573 been 9 days I still have bruises and can walk. Hurts a little bit if I touch it/ put pressure with my hand. Not doing any playing till one more week. Maybe longer. Going to do some cardio in the stationary bike first. Exercises to build up strength. I run and jump a lot when playing but definitely not thinking about it until I feel stronger.

I guess congratulations are in order, doc! ❤️
I’m not a Neymar fan, but it’s sucks that he was juking people then the defender retaliates by hard tackling. It happened the whole match.
I loved it. If he’s gonna throw himself on the ground over everything might as well make it count and get your moneys worth

Hey doc,
My ankle twisted but towards the outside (unlike Neymar’s twisting inwards) what would u call that then ? I never got it checked I just stayed at home for 1 week and I couldn’t walk.. I’m okay now

Can you do a video on Cedi Osman bleeding yellow/ yellow liquid ??
That was weird lol thank you!!
I had similar kind of left ankle twist while playing football and recovered but keeps repeating even for small twist. Like walking on gravel or on high heel. Dr. Is there any permanent remedy or treatment for that.

straight to the point, thanks doctor!
Sounds like baby Sutterer made his first appearance on the channel today haha
Hello Dr., I just had a quick question In regards to the comment about walking without a limp at 1:13. what is the level of numbing affects of adrenaline and endorphins in terms of him possibly being able to walk fine afterwards. Is it possible for it to be such a good pain killer to where he could still be numb to a more harmful injury that long after the play or would that have worn off by then. Thank you for your content, I am an Exercise sport science major who wants to be a PT one day and I find your videos as a great way to continue to think about the skeletal and muscular systems
Adrenaline would have worn off long before his walk to the locker room post game. Think he'll be fine. Done this a million times playing soccer. Hopefully he iced it immediately and they'll tape it up next game and he'll be good. He might not be 100% bit that's sports. You still want an 80% Neymar out there playing of possible.
@@dirediredude Now that the other teams know he's got something on that ankle... some will tackle him more than necessary... It,s unfortunate, but humans are not always nie to each other...
@@bernardgmunger
Or even play forcefully using body. All you have to do to reopen this injury is to push Neymar off balance from his left side (opposite from the injured leg). I know because I had this injury and have had it being reopened just from physical shoulder to shoulder push that is not even a foul. If I happen to be in air at that time even worse.
Some ppl get shot and keep walking for a few seconds so...
Hi Doctor, Will the fibularis longus and fibularis short tendons be affected? Thankss!!!
Hey Doc. Love your channel. I have a suggestion/request from a gym rat who would love your insight. Could you maybe do an episode where you explain the dangers of synthol oil injections into the body/muscles? I've been seeing more and more folks online doing this, to make their physique appear more muscular, and I'm so curious what the potential short and long term effects of this are. Thanks! And Happy Thanksgiving!
So many dramatized injuries from some players but he played well, super strong.
Hi Brian, what app do you use to view anatomy? Really like it, so interactive! I would love to use it for my anatomy review
I've seen _that_ look on my own ankle before. The pain the next day is _excruciating._ I have a decent pain tolerance, but that kind of pain was something else.
Hey Brian, I got hit on inner side of my ankle yesterday, in the start of the game, I played the whole game
After the game I realized the pain near my ankles and achilies
I am able to walk but that area is tender
Any specific things I need to do
legit question. how do they recover from this and then continue to be awesome in the fields. I have a fall and fractured my elbow last year. Until now, my arm cannot be straighten and if I force it, it hurts. Now I can't box, cant play basketball, can't throw any balls, basically can't do anything that would straighten my arm. How do I recover from this?
Wonderful video as always! Hope your kid(s) are doing fine! I have never heard them before in the background on one of your videos ;)
I had the same injury in 2018 and couldn't walk for over a year and now in 2022 it still hurts and I can't move my ankle like I used to
Hope you fell well
It’s 2022 bro… lol
@@eamonshields2754 I'm speaking into existence 😹
I was playing rec baseball and slid feet first really late and my foot caught on the base and rolled the exact same way… I had to wear a brace for 6 weeks when I returned to soccer I’m amazed they only expect him out 2 weeks😮
im about 90% recovered from this type of injury, thought it was initially broke, 5 months later and only at a jog pace!
Man I wish I could find a doctor like you
great explanation
he will play the knockouts if the qualify? right doc? btw love how u explained it.
I got a similar injury, no fracture, was able to limp, with a similar swelling, no more. But it took me 10 weeks just to be back in Sunday football. Could it possibly heal that quick so that Neymar won’t miss the whole World Cup? I mean I’m sure he’s got the best care possible plus the athleticism but 2-3 weeks to be back in the required competitive level might not be possible, no?
Let's say that one of those ligaments did tear, can that heal by itself or do you need surgery for it?
Surgery is rarely needed for a traditional ankle sprain, even if it’s a complete rupture
I got the same injury, and still the swelling is there ,its been 15 days is it normal...
And i' m not having severe pain
I don’t get why commentators want him to stop juking players.. like bro that’s a beautiful part of futbol.
Thank you forr doing this and now do the Hernandez brother
Thanks Dr
Can you explain what an osteochondral ankle injury is?
I also got same injury but it recovered In 1week🙏
Very well explained, and the 3D visual is amazing. 👏
Playing on a torn ankle (for 13 minutes!) wasn't the best of ideas... Putting ice right away on the ankle would have been better.
I've had something similar and it hurts a lot.
Neymar is stil young, he can play other tournaments, it's best to keep him in good health than to push the return too soon and risk a potential chronic pain
Exact same thing happened to me believe it or not 5 days was enough to recover.... Swelling still persisted for a couple of weeks but my ankle was very much functional
Were you able to play (if you play any sports) after those 5days/week?
Did the pain stay with u for weeks when moving the ankle hard if yes how did u recover did u continue playing or kept resting
👏⭐️👏⭐️👏 INTELLIGENT DOC!!! 🥇

Just as i was celebrating the fact that Brazil (unlike other squad) was avoiding serious injuries before the World Cup, .....and this happens☹️
I leap for some reason idk one time I was running and my leg hurts
I had sprained ankle not long ago I couldn’t walk . Went with this lady and she popped it back in place I was able to walk right alway .
Please explain Lucas Hernandez's injury against Australia
I don't have the top medical team to help me, but I'm not sure about the arguments about him and these indicating it's not a serious injury. I got ankle sprain, and I tried to power through for a while, which in hindsight was an obvious mistake. I initially didn't have much swelling, similar to Neymar, but the swelling went huge as time went by and I was out for a month at least. Then I was able to run, but soccer would've been extremely risky, and sure enough 2 months later I tried to play again, and after 3 trainings I reopened the injury so I was out again.
And I powered through, initially trying to play passively, but then later I walked home. Huge swelling lasted for more than a week and for that time period I did get crutches.
Being acuse of diving a lot but they hurt the F out of him
The background baby 🐥 sound so cute.

Since he was weight bearing, wouldn’t Ottawa ankle rules, rule out a potential fracture? Or were you speaking or a potential avulsion fracture?
You should do Sadio Mane’s knee injury, still confused about that

Thats happened to me too by 3days agay
Now I can sleep well... Good Night
That's a recoverable injury within the World Cuo schedule. When I partially teared my ankle ligaments, the swelling of my ankle was 3 times or more bigger than Neymar's one.
But did it come immediately? Because for me, initially the swelling was small, it became huge only sometime later, and I also powered through for quite a bit of time and later walked home. Couldn't run for a month and couldn't play for 2 months.
@@someverycool4552
No, not immediately. The fact that I got injured in an official match (not football btw), I was able to get the physio's care right at that moment. So it helped a bit, I guess. This specific injury was like 7 years ago, so I don't remember that well, but like 2/3h after the injury the foot was already double. It grew for like first 24h-36h. Ice helped a lot, and I most of the time I was with the leg elevated cause that's what they told me to do.
But I couldn't stand the foot on the ground, let alone walk. It was really difficult for me to walk the 1st week. I was on crutches for like 2/3 weeks. Only started running 1/2 months after the injury. I could go back to training with zero limitations 3 months after the injury.
Ultimately, I think it depends on your focus on recovering, being careful and what damage it has. But the fact that Neymar wasn't on crutches and could walk it off, it's a really good sign. After that injury I had some problems with that specific foot and it swelled just like Neymar's but it healed in like 1 week.
@@someverycool4552 Also my ankle twisted the opposite side of Neymar's. Like I teared my ankle's medial ligament, Neymar twisted his lateral ligament. Basically different injuries. Medial ligament ankle injuries take more time to heal than lateral ligament ankle injuries. Of course it depends if it's only a sprain, a partial tear or a full tear. But given the exact same damage, medial ones normally take more time to recover.
@@ObamaBinLaaden
Yeah, but I could initially walk it off, at first due to adrenaline, and after that due to I guess just trying to power through, but it got worse few hours later and the days after when I did have to use crutches, had the leg brace etc. Just I think the immediate aftermath about swelling or Neymar powering through doesn't give a good idea about the following days and weeks necessarily.
@@someverycool4552 The fact that he continued to play after the twist is a good sign. If the injury was serious he wouldn't be able to run. You might be able to walk it off, but running in a competitive match, changing directions etc is a completely different story.
He will be fine, he might play with some discomfort but he will play, I'm sure of it. Plus, even if he didn't play, Brazil as really good options to replace him in the R16.
They might play against Uruguay or Ghana, so Brazil without Neymar will go through anyway. Only if Portugal chokes hard in the last match and finishes 2nd in the group, either Ghana Uruguay or Korea are much worse teams than Brazil is without Neymar. If it is Portugal, they have a really good team, so Neymar would be important in such a game.
I want to feel sorry that he got hurt but after seeing the many flops, dives, screams, and barrel rolls, I'll hold it in.
new update dr?
I’ve played for many years with a dodgy ankle, but I always have it strapped up tight and have never had any real issues of spraining since.
I don’t get why Neymar isn’t strapping it up?!!
What about Danilo? He looked like he was hurt as well
