    Landing at MDW .....for civilians, like landing on aircraft carrier, touchdwn, spoilers, thrust reversers, hard braking, feeling decel Gs in seat. Love it.

      Yep! Last time I flew into Midway the landing was like that... pilot hit the brakes HARD as soon as we touched and if you didn't have your seat belt fasted right you would be splattered on the seat in front of you! LOL

      Just landed in midway coming back from Fort Lauderdale and yes pilot brakes so hard the over head bin came open and we had to push against the seat in front of us too keep from going forward into the person in front of us 😭

      I live about 9 miles away but directly under the landing path. When we built the house 55 years ago, Midway was mostly used by small, private planes - almost all propellers - and the noise was barely noticeable. Now with the big jets, I can't have a conversation outside when planes are flying overhead.
      Around the airport - I frequently do business there - the noise outside is of course, very loud. But it's brief and I suppose it's easy to get used to.

      They don't. I grew up west of the airport and remember when there were maybe 2 scheduled flights a day to STL and that was it, except for private aircraft. When my parents moved in 99 the noise levels were ridiculous. I can't imagine what they're like now.

    • @IIOctaneII
      @IIOctaneII Před 3 lety +3

      @@rnman99 Jets are quieter then they were back then. Plus it’s not like the airport uses just one runway for landings. On some days they don’t even use 31C or 4R for landing because the wind doesn’t blow in that direction for a week/few days, giving people under the approach a break from the noise.

      I’m actually not sure what you’re asking here. We were not holding short of anything on landing. Perhaps it seems that way because this aircraft has very powerful reverse thrust and stops pretty quickly compared to some other aircraft. We were simply stopping normally and making the first turn off we could safely make. But, thanks for your comments!

      No need to get so defensive! You will run into tens of millions of people on social media who have spent their entire lives in their mother’s basement in front of a flatscreen, and are thus unable to distinguish the difference between real life and simulations.
      For example try watching some CZcams videos of the new Perseverance Mars rover. Most of these videos will have actual imagery spliced together with simulations, and even though it’s blatantly obvious which is which, you will find battles raging in the comment section between one group of people who think it’s all fake because “lookee here, lookee there” and another group of people that think it’s all real.
