i love korean dramas especially their period dramas, so i have always been curius of how they make their hairstyle, cause it looks so complicated, and elegant, yet looks heavy too.
I'm really sorry, but I don't know exactly where you can buy Gache... You may borrow it from Hanbok store or Korean traditional wedding company. :) Thanks for watching~ XD
Tofu Because of Confucian influence, ancient Koreans hardly had their hair cut. So I think some could possibly make these kinds of hairstyle with their own hair... 🤔
They did use wigs, they were called "gache". My Mom told me most were made from human hair, but also were made from horse hair, and black silk thread. And also lacquered wood in the case of the concubines wedding hairpeice.
Thanks for making this awesome videos! I enjoyed watching very much! Have you got a beauty parlour in Korea where I could have one of this beautiful hairstyle done?
Yes! ^0^ Because Korean people(Joseon Dynasty) didn't cut their hair in their lifetime, however, they could also make the big and elegant hairstyle not using Gache~ :) Thanks for wayching~
Maybe it adds volume to the hair? I mean some people have thin hair volume which is why hair extensions are made to add some volume to it. I dunno bout this whole korean thing but maybe it's something related to that??
I have a feeling it was something to do with the fake hair they were using...I also thought it was hilarious how the "gisaeng" was falling asleep during the video haha
I think her hair is naturally silky and super dark. So when you look at her hair with the bright background it looks oily and wet :) a lot of asians have those kinda hair
That is called "Bassidaenggi". Well... not only very rich kids but also any girl that can afford to buy it could have the Bassidaenggi. But, as you said, poor girls couldn't wear it.

I had been looking for something like this. I got interested in Korean traditional hairstyles after watching Queen Seondeok - during Shilla times
Me too, their hair was so great and I've always wondered how they did it
i was trying to search for this kind of video since past 2 years... n finally i found it... thanks for making it... its so interesting!!!
Sorry for saying this... but it is not my own making. Korea Culturecontents has all the rights.

I'm really sorry, but I don't know exactly where you can buy Gache...
You may borrow it from Hanbok store or Korean traditional wedding company. :)

I think so, too~ Especially Kisaeng's hairstyle is absolutely beautiful~ :) Thanks for watching~ XD
Beautiful videos. Love historical fashion and history
Thanks for the lesson
Don't tell me they had to use real hair to do that back then instead of wigs.

Humble Eurus み
It's real hair. gachae is a different thing. This one is real. Ancient Korean didn't have a haircut
Cheri Hong and also man didn’t have hair cut too because it was the tradition

Thanks for making this awesome videos! I enjoyed watching very much! Have you got a beauty parlour in Korea where I could have one of this beautiful hairstyle done?

Thank you sir 💜
Boy, the kisaeng's hairstyle's really big! Looks heavy. O.O Applaud them for dancing without overbalancing. Could never do that. :D
Very nice!😍👍🔝👏
Oh~ really? Thankyou so much! ^0^
Maret, 2021 stay on
Nice culture !
wow, that gisaeng's hair too big. btw, thanks for the video
*was
I can feel it in my neck
Why do ancient Koreans had to wear hair extenders? Specially the queen.. I was astonished by watching Dae Jang Geum or Jewel in the Palace
Maybe it adds volume to the hair? I mean some people have thin hair volume which is why hair extensions are made to add some volume to it. I dunno bout this whole korean thing but maybe it's something related to that??
8:57 is the prettiest imo
I wish it was simple to find something like that were i live T-T
Quite right! I myself was also wondering how did they tie their hair so big! Now I finally know the they just add wigs lol. And big as well. ha ha.
Where can I buy binyeo when I visit South Korea
Visit Insadong area. I saw some craftshops where they sell traditional binyeo. I remember one in Ssamjigil market too.
Its remind me of choi dong yi.but dong yi's hair is more neat and beautiful
So beautiful
What do you call that strap used in the man's head?
When I heard the soundtrack from Painter of the wind at 8:22 , I started crying
dear kikiji927,
can you please send me the titles of the hairstyles and there pictures
thanks, bianca piezas
Can someone tell me the names of the songs in this video?
Angela Hong You can find all the three songs (저잣거리 풍경, 연소답청, 바람의 화원) from the OST album of the Korean historical drama Painter of the Wind... 😃
2022 ❤️🥺
You think so? haha~
Thanks for watching~
if i were to have a traditional korean wedding and needed my hair like that how might i find the fake hair? unles theres a way to use only my hair?
I have a feeling it was something to do with the fake hair they were using...I also thought it was hilarious how the "gisaeng" was falling asleep during the video haha
a Royal Pinyeo is a weapon!
their hair seem wet or kinda oily .Would somebody mind telling what did they apply on their hair??
Hair oil maybe?
It came from a herb. or a moss
I think her hair is naturally silky and super dark. So when you look at her hair with the bright background it looks oily and wet :) a lot of asians have those kinda hair
In hisrorically, women used Camellia oil for their silky hair
it needs markers and/or a list
Wow
Yeah~ I think they came from the same root. ^0^
My favorite one was for unmarried women
Where are beakche shilla and goguryo's queens?
That dude's hairline is perfect wtf
Did Koreans invent the man bun? 😂 Jk. Awesome video. Thanks
Well... Sorry, I have no idea... ToT
I want to know what it is, too... :)
I can see distant resemblence between bulgarian oval face and korean one!
While Bulgaria mean Bulga Oguria,Korea may come from Kotri Oguria ...???
some of the hairstyles look so heaavvvyy...
That is called "Bassidaenggi".
Well... not only very rich kids but also any girl that can afford to buy it could have the Bassidaenggi.
But, as you said, poor girls couldn't wear it.
07:55 my fav
did they use to use instenctions in the past or it's just their hair???
MJ KIM
nice.then they have a very healthy hair 😍😍
by the way, what's that round thing on top of the little girl's head? I don't see that thing on poor ppl girl's hair. Only rich kids have?
Aslam
We are going to Japan
All those extra braids ...how did they do so such hairstyle in joseon ????..do they also used fake hair?
