    This song plays a lot in Trinidad and would be a heavy contender for the Trinidad and Tobago international Soca Monarch for 2014. Would be great if this artist could come to my island for the Carnival next or collaborate with artists like Machel Montano or Bunji Garlin. It has a nice soca vibe!!!!!!

    • @pinkness81
      @pinkness81 Před 9 lety +23

      Actually we do not have the same culture. Caribbean culture is a combination of various influences, e.g. Indigenous Indian, African , East Indian and European. Our music, food, dialect etc showcases these influences. Now people have to honest about Afrobeats. It is not solely traditional Nigerian music. It is influenced by traditional Nigerian/Ghanan music and more contemporary genres such as Jazz etc. In very much the same way calypso in the early stages was influenced by jazz. So please peeps stop the madness our music sound familiar because they are influenced by similar things ... relax … the song is a great one.

    • @pinkness81
      @pinkness81 Před 9 lety +4

      JustForYou♥ Soca did not originate from Africa ... Soca is a spinoff of Calypso which has primarily French and African influences fused with some Jazz etc. Soca adds the Indian influence...

  • @TDotRudeBoy
    @TDotRudeBoy Před 10 lety

    Soca is the result of a fusion between African and East Indian influenced Caribbean music. Calypso music was blended with Chutney (East Indian Caribbean music) and instruments such as the dholak, tabla and dhantal. This resulted in the birth of Soca originally spelled "Sokah". Yes we have influence from Africa as well as India, Europe, China and from the Natives. We have not forgotten our motherlands but we do have our own distinct culture. Caribbean culture.

    This song, or any other west African music cannot be West Indian/ Caribbean influenced. Remember, Africans from Nigerian, Ghana, etc were stolen from their land and forced into slavery in America and the Caribbean/West Indies..and with them, they brought their culture.. food, music, religion, etc... hence the reason why music like soca, reggae/dancehall, Kompa, zouk, etc..has heavy African influential rhythms..
