If I see my feed having the same product from each YTer in the same 24 hours, there’s a good chance I won’t buy it. It’s also made me trust those YTers a bit less.

As soon as these reviews appear on CZcams, the product sells out, too many gullible people
with more money than sense.
The targeted CZcams marketing is so overkill its a sure fire way for me to NOT look at a product.
The thought of Baxter dropping F Bombs on the phone in a park cracks me up.
Robert Baker, Shane in the Blues, & Rhett Shull are some of my favorites. Super chill, down to earth, and they give some honest advice. Including Baxter & Jonathan, definitely people I would wanna meet and ask to shake hands with!
Also I just started binging Ted Lasso. Amazing show, definitely worth a watch!

What I love about this channel that other guitar oriented channels do not offer:
The videos start out fast, and within a minute I feel like I’m on a train careening toward a cliff, statements like “free balling it,” get tossed around, I get completely confused as to how we ended up at Bjork, then, we nail the landing with enlightened information.
It’s like I have spent 10 minutes with the Joker if he were the Buddha.
Phil McKnight is my favourite for talking about gear. I never miss his live show on a Friday. It is on at 2300 Wales time so it is a late night for me but well worth it. You guys are great too...

I’d wasn’t familiar with Paul David until ya’ll mentioned his channel here and I stopped watching this video to look him up. From there, I spend over an hour going down the Monterrey Hendrix Strat rabbit hole and subscribed to both Paul David’s channel and CGS before returning to finish this video. Probably the most Baxter AF thing I’ve ever done.

I always take everything on CZcams with a grain of salt. Not just because of the relationship between reviewers and manufacturers, but so much of what we dig or don't dig about guitars is subjective. Great video.
I'm glad you used the word "advertising" in relation to the reviews that CZcamsrs do, because that's what they are. Manufacturers see it as that, and so should we. ✌️🇦🇺

@@SeanAllocca yeah but here’s the thing. Fender might not send him freebies anymore, BUT Phil is willing to buy Fenders out of his own pocket if enough viewers request that he review certain models. Fender can’t silence Phil from showing any legit QC and/or others issues, and I respect Phil for his honesty and willingness to put his name on the line even if it means he won’t get some free perks from _______ brand.
To be fair, the brands should actively be working with honest people like him to fix the problems being pointed out. They could prove that the issues have been resolved by having Phil get random samples from a few different shops/suppliers to compare and see if the issues still exist. They could even have him making a video from their factory to show how they’ve beefed up training and QC to prevent those problems going forward. Instead of “banning” him from getting freebies, customers would see Fender taking active steps to improve their products, which would result in more sales and less returns at the end of the day.
I’m sorry, but Fender is losing out by banning CZcamsrs who tell the truth when there’s an even better marketing opportunity to recognize flaws and show they’ve been resolved. Most customers don’t take anything seriously when most CZcamsrs have nothing negative to critique - there’s no such thing as perfect, so it makes people question the brand (and CZcamsrs doing that) even more. Honesty is always the best policy, as is turning negatives into positives.

Glenn really has been roasting Gibson lately. Like Gibson or not it’s been kind of unfair honestly. But he doesn’t strike me as a guy that is really bothered if he’s on the naughty list. 😆
When a video game reviewer plays a game, they’re playing the same version that all the reviewers are. When a film critic sees a film, it’s the same one we all do. Guitar quality is very variable. We all know two Les Pauls or two Fender Amps can sound and feel very different, and you can end up with the one with a QC issue in 1000. I don’t think if you have a review guitar you can say it is the same as all of the rest of the production, good or bad. What you can prove is how the company deals with an issue, and if they’re snotty then you can say that. Even if I’ve seen bad reviews for a music product, if I try it out and love it I’ll buy it.
There’s also an argument the bad reviews get more views than glowing ones. That and thumbnails with a tortured angry face next to a guitar.

Well I'm quite new and still excited to be a CZcamsr! 😃 but I can confirm that already I've been able to turn down offers of free cheap pedals and some other bat shit weird contraptions no-one in their right mind would want. I sincerely hope I am putting off any potential big brand suitors well in advance with my ill-informed yet honest reviews and my British sense of humour as I fear my moral principles would be severely challenge by the offer of any free Gibson or Fender 🤔 Cheers guys, I think you may have opened a can of worms here!! 😆👍

So today........ I bit the bullet and drove down to Casino Guitars. Points of Great Importance follow:
1. GO! Stop talking about it and go.
2. I was very fortunate and got to talk to the Dynamic Duo in person (in fact, I ambushed Jonathan looking at photos of chickens when I walked in the door and an hour later I left with a new Martin).
3. The guys are EXACTLY what you see on the videos, no pretension, no tomfoolery, no backslapping and/or glad-handing. They are real people and they will talk to you under the assumption that you too are a real person (or possibly a Viking).
4. The place smells amazing, it is worth the drive just to breathe that nitrocellulose infused air.
5. Parking.... we won't talk about parking.
6. These people appreciate your business. They know there are other places you can purchase from (but those other places don't have the Baxter & Jonathan show live and playing in real time right in front of you, so at the risk of being redundant, just GO there and buy stuff).
7. If you have a beard of some dimension, Baxter will go grab his cell phone and insist that you and Jonathan stand in very near proximity to one another so he can capture the moment. It isn't too weird, as long as you don't think too hard about it.
It was sooooo worth the trip. Thank you Jonathan for walking me through the Martin line and getting me the right guitar.
Your honesty is appreciated. It makes me want to shop at your store, which is the point I'm guessing. Unfortunately, I live in Texas and can't just drop in. So, I'll just keep enjoying the videos. Keep up the good work.

I enjoy documenting different guitars I buy, sell, collect, and going on guitar safaris, but I have to admit, as a hobbyist, it takes a lot of time to edit videos, but I am slowly improving. I just enjoy sharing under-appreciated guitars and giving hints on buying/selling. One day I will make more “professional” quality vids.
I’ve bought a lot of average amps and guitars based off CZcams reviews. I’ve learned my lesson. 90% of the gear I buy from a store I keep. I sell almost everything I buy without playing first. It’s all post magic and you can’t go off what someone else thinks about feel.

Love your thoughts on this, and as someone who works in the industry for a major retailer I love the inside baseball talk. It’s great to be able to relate and know we all have some of the same things we run into.
This channel and Trogly''s Guitar Show are my two go to's. Also like Darrell Braun Guitars and Rhett Shull. But I have to take Rhett in small doses.

I hang out with Phil McKnight on the 2 KYG channels and have since he started. We don't agree on everything but I always respect what he has to say. I believe that's the key to his success, and it's landed him on the naughty list many times. But speaking for his subscribers and members, we all love him! 8) BTW, you guy's were mentioned on the live show last night and got nothing but good vibes and comments!! Sometimes you guys bug me a bit with the endless rambling, but it takes all kinds and I appreciate you also. 8) I do have 1 that I truly dislike! You can't bite the hand that feeds but I respect the sacrificial lamb who gives it straight. The manufacturers have every opportunity to send perfect product to the reviewer, if it's trash we are all searching the model for honest reviews. Sometimes silence is the best action.

Fender fires employees for a meme while their production falls 15 months behind.
The F umbrella is suffering QC issues that I don’t see any CZcamsrs talking about much. Along with the price increases makes for iffy market, at least it looks that way to me. I can see signs of a stalling guitar market already especially used higher end G guitars and F guitars.

I’m not a CZcamsr, so I spent most of this video trying to read the rest of Baxter’s shirt. I’m pretty sure it says Baxter but that’s about it…also what an outfit! Jeans, tshirt and a black blazer. Bravo Bax 👏

The Wife and I have a 40 acre Tree farm here in Florida , but I would hardly call us Land Barons, But it does mean I can turn up my Amps as Loud as I want and have ZERO Complaints
Honesty can only go so far in a subjective market. I appreciate when these reviews are inspiring and entertaining to say the least. Bashing a product can be fun but almost too easy to do, again with subjective views. Show me what you CAN do with it and Ill decide if it serves my needs as a consumer. Great vid guys!
I like Darrell Braun's channel but he's way too positive. I believe he had good things to say about Donner or Glarry guitars.
I feel Henning and Glen are probably the most honest because I see a good balance of positive and negative things being said.
That Braun dude creeps me out.

He will say anything is great if they pay for a multi review series of their products

Braun if im not mistaken falls into the category of "didn't even declared paid promotion tickbox" before publishing his video, intheblues indirectly called out some of these youtubers, since then i do not believe their reviews. Pretty much the only people that can be trusted are Phil, Shane and Henning, their recommendations hasn't led me wrong yet.
I wonder where you are getting this information from. How do you know what it is like to be an independent CZcamsr and what the deals are and how we interact with brands? I for sure am on a bunch of naughty lists, but this usually leads to better relationships with brands and better products in the end.
We have talked to both our CZcams friends and our friends at the manufacturer. Marketing dept def knows who to send things to, and who not to send things to before a launch.
@@CasinoGuitars "CZcams" friends seems a bit vague because you are clearly not an independent channel and don't do what independent channels do. As you clearly said in your video... you are talking to "reps" and those are not the people taking care of marketing.
You are also getting some terms wrong. You say brands are getting "free advertising" and that is simply incorrect. NOTHING is free. A channel isn't giving away free advertising and brands would NEVER give away a "free" guitar. Why would they do that, it makes no sense. A guitar that is placed on a channel to be seen is payment (maybe even money gets exchanged on top of that) and the channel provides a service of video production and reach. The word "FREE" should really never enter into the discussion... brands that think they can get things for FREE don't understand how it works.
NONE of that means it can't be honest.
You can refuse to show a product that doesn't meat your standards (that happens a lot) and let the brand know WHY it can't appear on your channel which hopefully leads to improvements.
Your channel is a shop channel and the ultimate goal is to sell guitars from your shop, so your channel's model is clearly different.
BUT when you talk about "channels" and you won't name any names, it sounds like it is all just made up and none of what you're saying is backed up by actual facts.
HALF of our days are spent talking to brands and finding out what the best and most honest way to present the gear is. I will go out on a limb and say that you guys do not know what it is like to run an independent channel and maybe you should talk to some before you make videos like these.

I remember when I first saw the acoustisonic I was like hey that looks kinda cool, a nice practice guitar you can pick up in the middle of the night and not plug in if you don’t want to. So I thought it’s gotta be about $500, but then I saw it was $2000 and that was my quickest NOPE ever.
Ricky Gervais, After Life, great work. I started watching Derek I was impressed Gervais’ acting, another great series.
Trogly's Guitar Show is still hands down the best guitar review channel on CZcams. I'm a Gibson guy so that helps.... Lol

I just realized Casino is about an hour from where i live. Might have to plan a trip to visit.
The Acoustisonic was a glance behind the curtain. So many CZcamsrs became fanboys and fangirls that I said to myself no way in hell. It also showed me who was beholden to the companies and who would drop an honest opinion on us. That’s the trap with a manufacturer’s naughty/nice list. Nothing is perfect and if a CZcamsr raves about everything from a manufacturer they flush their credibility and with it a large part of their audience. That’s what I like about y’all, buried in the blather about Bjork are some things I need to hear. Y’all aren’t going to lie to us to curry favor with The Man.
I watch a ton of guitar reviews. I even watch if it’s a guitar I’m not interested in. I often just want to see the features, new colors, or hear what it sounds like. But I totally disregard the opinions of those CZcamsrs that love everything the pick up. It’s impossible to like everything. My buddy loves fat necks, I don’t. And that’s ok. That’s just what you dig. QC issues need to be pointed out though. That way I will know what I might have to take care of if I buy that guitar. And the manufacturer needs to be put on notice that the issue exists and that it needs to be cleaned up. 🤘

There are demos. There are reviews. Reviews are editorial. Demos are marketing. If you do demo gear and don't get paid in money or gear, or via kickback through an affiliate company, you're doing it wrong. If you review gear and expect to get paid by a guitar company, you're also doing it wrong - if you do get paid by a supplier for what masquerades as 'review', it's called 'cash of commentary' and it's illegal where I live.

How about the channels that say that certain guitar is discontinued and jack up the price of said guitar, when infact, its just currently out if stock as in the SG kirk douglas guitar?

I don’t think Rhett is “extremely honest“. I like most of his content but his whole “other than this $400 thing for free… I’ve not been paid.” Flip it for $300 on reverb? You’ve been paid.

Didn't Greg Koch say that he bought his Acoustasonic Jazzmaster? He got to play one for his Truefire course, and he absolutely fell in love with it so he bought his own. I thought that was what he said.
It's cool hearing new gear but think I have sworn off most new gear Haven't bought a new amp since the 90's so get a great sounding Tone King and the power tranny takes a dump after about 25 hour's That was a 1K purchase too Sweetwater is making it right tho but had to pay to ship back for repair Oh well

There is a Difference between reviewing something you had to Save for and Spend Money on from Expectations to Performance and certainly Not paying for them , reduces the Investment personally and yes many times Effects the Review Seen, but there are Honest People that don't care about anything but the truth and we are grateful for each and every one
I notice you guys dont carry a whole lot of new Gibson guitars in your store. I've been looking at a les paul standard with p90s any insight you can provide?
I've found better luck looking on other channels for Gibson/Epiphone discussions and break downs. These guys are good but I'd say they are on Gibson's naughty list for past videos but that is just a guess.

Put simply: you can’t trust the word of the someone who potentially self censors in order to keep a manufacturer happy. I’d never buy anything on the basis of what those channels say, for that very reason.
It’s one of the reasons I like this channel. You call it as you see it.
I’d also have suspicions about some channels doing post production on their videos on the sound of the guitar they’re promoting (I say promoting - they’re not reviewing it - you have to be impartial to be reviewing a product) to make it sound as good as possible.
Fender did go crazy. Like almost every CZcams’r had one. I almost started a channel so they would send me one. It’d be cheaper that way anyway.

Now that’s an honest statement. I’ve thought about making a road trip to order a custom shop F guitar from casino. I do enjoy watching these extremely goofy dudes talk crap. What I didn’t appreciate was the video with guitar hunter guy. I go to the guys web site and he has no freaking guitars man. All he’s trying to do is teach people how to buy guitars? Come the F on man. So the marketing thing is definitely happening even with the good ol boys at casino guitars. That said I’m still gonna make a road trip and order a fender from these guys because my coffee just isn’t the same without them. Much luv CG
