  • I am seeking input on troubleshooting our 1995 D21 A/C which stopped working and may be attributed to either:
    1. Belt coming off and sticking under crankshaft pulley. Or
    2. Possible damage to switch when trying to fix blower settings.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you for watching.

Have a 95 also. Went through everything you just did. Found a fluke that no one mentioned or had any idea what was going on. But above the fuse box those 4 blue relays. The one all the way to the right closest to the steering wheel i could move it up and down pretty hard and it would cause the ac comp to start kicking on and off. Not sure if the relay is bad or just bad connections. Still not sure on how to even pull that relay out to swap it. But that was my issue. Found it by accident becuase everything else that works on that relay works fine so would necer guess to question it. Hope this helps others

That’s amazing. Thank you for sharing as I never thought to look there. We appreciate the insight and hope you get the a/c working well.

You could check that switch by doing a continuity test like you would do a fuse if it goes to ground you know that the switch is good. I can’t quite tell you how to do it on the phone, but I have a amp meter that has mode on it you can switch it there, and when you touch each side of the fuse, for example it will buzz, if it is no good any noise with the switch you put it on each side of that or take it to ground and push switch on and off that will tell you if they functioning right

There’s another switch on top of the heater box. I forget what they call it. It’s a square box if that’s bad you won’t get any power to that switch likely where the problems at some of these hard bodies have a hidden so-called wire harness on the left side setting in the truck drivers side up by the airbox, there is arelay that could be bad

Great video not many people show the struggle with the ac on these d21s
Where does the ac push switch wiring run to? Tracing that cable does it run to the fuse box or to the evaporator housing

I have same problem as well. How did you fix it?

We ended up pulling a replacement from the local junkyard. The contacts on the original were not up to par even after a very good cleaning. We should have tried some sand paper to clean the surface better but looking back, finding a suitable replacement was the best route. How is your project going?

Did you end up fixing this issue? I’m having the exact same problem on my 96 D21
