I have the same kind of story.. art my whole youth. I'd never had nails until right before nail school. I thought i would just do nails until I graduated from college. Now it's year 27 of nails and I use my art degree every day! I love your videos.

The first pictures I have of me doing nails are from 2013. I went to school in 2015. I’ve grown so much in 4 years of being licensed. You definitely have to practice. It took me 2 months to get the hang of a baby boomer, and it finally clicked today. I was so happy.

    Great series idea!
I remember when I finally got good at my French Manicure smile line. It's such a basic technique, but can be so damn frustrating. Clients usually show me a pic and I do my best to recreate the design, or they have no idea what they want, then we negotiate a design. I have a few that let me do whatever I want (within reason). I've been working on a Nail Art display board to give them some ideas for artwork. I tend to lean towards Swarovski crystals or glitter in my designs. I'm easily distracted by shiney things! 💎✨🌟😂

Glad to see your smiling face!
Thank you for showing us your humble beginnings. I have been a part-time tech for four years, but mostly do pedicures. My clients who do get gel nails done (I don't do acrylic due to an allergy) aren't all that into nail art. Some do let me play, but I mostly just practice on me and my daughters. I feel like this lack of art clientele keeps me from truly honing my skills. 😕

    •  Před 4 lety +5

Juliet Horner That is definitely a big issue. When I look back I can really see how my clients have affected my style of nail art. Sometimes you need to bring a couple of friends in and give them a “let me play around discount” just to get the word out 😉

Thank you for sharing with us. I have been doing some online nail art courses and feeling inadequate. This is a hobby for me and art does not come naturally to me. You asked in a recent video what You could do differently for us, well, I would like a lesson on simple brush techniques and what brush to use for which technique. Also one stroke art. I am really struggling with that and I am using L.E. Butter creams and gel polishes. I do have a small set of L.E. Neon U.V.art paints ( not available anymore). Can you advise me and others how to use these products for nail art.

You're super talented! Did you ever dive into the stamping plate world? I did & feel like it took my creativity away. Now I'm super insecure trying free hand. I don't even try .. sucks

I didn’t actually because (and this is just me) it felt like “cheating” because I have always been hand drawing. But that doesn’t mean that it’s a great help for a lot of people and I have been thinking of creating my own plates to help people get started with nail art. I can totally see how it could cause the feelings you got though, but hopefully my next video will help you with that 😊

This video came at the perfect time for me.
I have such ups and downs with my nail art. It can be discouraging sometimes!
So it's nice to see that someone I look up to in the nail community has had their struggles too!

How long did it take to perfect your nails with shaping , art nail. I have not been doing it for a year . I just want it perfect now . How long to get the perfect shaped nail. Loved the video

That’s really hard to say. First of all I don’t think we will ever reach “perfection”, it’s always an ongoing process and you learn something (even if it’s microscopic) with every single set you do. I wasn’t taught shaping when I was first educated and didn’t start to think about that until I switched over to LE seven years later. It all comes down to how much you practice basically. When it’s comes to nail art it’s in the eye of the beholder so you tell me 😉😉

Do you have any easy nail art tips for someone who isn't naturally creative? I struggle so much with brush control and pressure 😔

My nail school teacher told me that I would never do nails in a "real salon setting" like I was doing in nail school. She made me feel terrible about myself and my art.

My nail teacher told me that I would never succeed in life because I’m a disgusting person. Random people in our life are not in charge of our future - we are ❤️
