Overview: Today I'm on a solo mission to see what changes have been made to Sears in the Newburgh mall, lots of changes. Between one side of Sears being original and the other being a "warehouse" it's so crazy looking. Also the original panted Sears race car is so neat to see inside!
History: Founded in 1892 by Richard Warren Sears and Alvah Curtis Roebuck and reincorporated in 1906 by Richard Sears and Julius Rosenwald, with what began as a mail ordering catalog company migrating to opening retail. Sears also demonstrated how to run a business. Cutting costs and tightly controlling distribution fueled its rise to power.
The company built a massive Chicago distribution complex in 1906, which occupied three million square feet of floor space.
