This was a huge hit for Amii Stewart reaching the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in April 1979! I've always loved this great disco/dance track! So many great disco tracks hit the top ten in 1979! Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" Sister Sledge's "We Are Family" Chic's "Good Times" Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell" Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" Bee Gee's "Tragedy" Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" "Bad Girls" & "Dim All The Lights" to name just a few! What an amazing year 1979 was!!!!

I played the hell out of this song at the clubs. FLOOR FILLER every time and talk about EPIC vocals! Amii Stewart killed this song with her vocals, dance moves costume. Knock On Wood remains on my top 10 favorite dance songs of all time.

I used to blast this song. When I was a kid, my mom bought me this K-Tel album compilation of hits (remember K-tel??!!) "Hot Nights and City Lights" was the theme. LOVED this one.
I still have my old k-tel records, couldn't afford to buy individual albums when I was a kid.
I think I owned that one. I had several and remember this on one of them. Wow... I'm old.

I think this is one album that I got from Columbia House (I think that's the one). All I had to do was tape a penny to the order form and 6 to 8 weeks later I had 10 albums! I'm pretty sure I still owe them money and I'm STILL grounded! Lol
My mom had this album also I was like 6 years old and I used to listen to it with her all the time such great memories

IMO this is the greatest disco record of all time.
You need to hear the original version of this song, because it was a major hit in 1966 by Eddie Floyd.

This is a radio shortened radio edit version, but the 12" original version is phenomenal. An updated remix was made in 1985 with more powerful metallic sounding percussion (called 'Knock On Wood / Ash 48') without altering much of the original. It's a superb version worth listening to!

Last I checked Amii is 66 but still fit and fabulous even now! She's been living in Rome, Italy since the mid-1980s and is fluent in Italian. A prolific recording artist with 16 albums under her belt.
This one brings back great memories when a bunch of us went to the club to go dancing.

I recall listening to this song on the radio, when I was in high school and bragging to my mom about how awesome it was. My mom then busted my bubble, telling me how old the song is, and that it's a remake from the 1960's!
I have a childhood memory of this song. My parents were one of those hippies who hated disco and listened to only rock. When this song came on the radio in the car, I expected them to quickly change the channel. My dad turned it up...loud! We were all dancing in the car. Good times.

Oh honey honey honey…this shit is da bomb!!!! This in my opinion is tied for The best Disco song of all time!!! As an adult in Miami, we had a club in South Beach back in the early 90’s called The Cameo Theater Presents Disco Inferno and that club was packed ALWAYS, and when this song came on….LOOK OUT SWEET JESUS, I TORE UP THE DANCE FLOOR!!! FANTASTIC MEMORIES!!!!! I was a kid when the song came out, but I loved it then and forever!
