- Yes I really did email the hotel requesting a haunted room. We stayed in Lumley Castle Hotel, a 14th century castle near the city of Durham (Chester le Street). The hotel is said to be one of the most haunted places in the UK. The legend states that a woman named Lily Lumley was thrown into a well within the castle grounds. Her ghost is said to float up from the well and haunt the residents. There have been several reports of apparitions, orbs and other ghost sightings by previous visitors (just check out Trip Advisor)!
We put this legend the test and go ghost hunting at midnight using the magic of infrared night vision on my camera.
Aside from the spooky, Halloween themed vibe of this video, the hotel is actually beautiful and the surrounding areas are gorgeous! I can’t definitely see why people choose this as their wedding venue. The restaurant we dined in was Black Knight Restaurant within the hotel itself. The food is amazing and I highly recommend you book yourself in if you are ever close to Durham!

This video evidences the power of suggestion very well. The hotel trades on being haunted. When I stayed here there were signs everywhere about the haunting. The staff were very eager for you to have a paranormal experience. Nothing happened to me.

my late wife and I had lived in a number of propertys over the years started in 1966 and most were haunted however as a Christian they were not ghosts of the dead as the souls of the dead return to god or go to hell so the wat we thought were ghosts back then were in fact demonic

Especially when you checked to make sure the camera was recording and then it stoped- I was like no no no no :O Get out of there!!! Eek!

Wow, this hotel looks amazing, Marianna! I love the haunted vibe and stories! I hope I'd be brave enough to stay somewhere similar. It is a stunning hotel, though the well is quite creepy. Haha, love the wi-fi scare... definitley terrifying when that happens.

The red room is the most expensive room in the hotel often booked for weddings etc for the bride and groom.
That was Lilly lumleys room and is set to be the most active spot for hauntings. The top floor tv room is also a common spot for wierd things to happen.
I've stayed in Lumley and have been in the red room at night and it's no joke a creepy spot for sure.

I probably will never forget my visit to Lumley Castle six years ago with my husband, we ordered high tea, while sitting and waiting for it I had a very weird experience like I could not breath, felt heaviness in the chest, went outside to breathe not to pass out.. I still can't explain why did I felt so .. but I don't think I would go back (

i think staying in a haunted room would be a fun experience. Thanks to my grandma, spirits don't really spook me out lol. We want to go to Scotland next year though and stay that night in a castle. I'm in love with that dress! and girl yeah thats almost exactly Wednesday's dress ( I love the Addam's family lol). But it looks like you guys had a great time!

I viewed this while I'm I'm in the hotel, I'm also in room 55. Hasn't changed much, the gold ornaments thing with cherubs on it isn't there anymore. There was a 1 minute fire alarm at 4:30 am last night .

Oh that's Really good I never have seen such a brave girl in nowadays like you but I can give you one suggestion that whenever you are visiting a haunted place make sure to keep your all fear out and then visit it that will reduce much of the fear from you ;)

I live in the village next to Chester le street (Great Lumley) me and me mates always walk Over to lumley castle and go exploring through the woods around the castle and normally walk through the hotel as well. It’s not scary during the day!
I checked out of room 55 this morning after a two night stay. I can confirm that there is a funny smell in the room and the two ornaments on the fire surround in your film weren’t there when I arrived on Tuesday.....

My cousin and my dad went ghost hunting last night we had like special things to see ghosts or something and they were all nice ghosts until we were leaving and the ghost became really angry and mad and followed us to the end of the pathway. I dunno Lumley castle scares me :)

I worked there for 10 years so I can tell you there is no such a ghost called Lilly Lumley I never seen anything myself. The hotel was built in13 century.
