@user-wb5lx5zu7u The cultural impact will be absolutely no comparison. Secret Wars is not going to have the same effect on people as Infinity War/Endgame did.
Mostly because the MCU has squandered a lot of the goodwill they built the first 10 years of the Infinity Saga by making extremely sub-par movies and shows for the last 5 years. Not to mention the interconnectivity of the MCU seems to be fraying. It's all very disconnected and directionless right now.

I remember going to opening night for most of the old Star Trek movies and I can remember audiences cheering in every single one of them. We had the same with the Star Wars prequels and a couple of other movies. Then of course this and Endgame. I personally love when audiences cheer and applaud. My local theater quickly and quietly ushered everyone out the back exit each time a showing ended. To prevent anyone coming in to watch it, seeing the dejected looks on everyone who was leaving after watching it. It’s a great tear jerker. I think the one that really gets me is Spider-Man. It’s easy to overlook that he really is just a kid. A kid who feels it’s his responsibility to use his powers 😉 to the greatest of his abilities, not only for those in his neighborhood but in any situation he encounters. This burden has him fearful of falling short, especially not wanting to fail and letdown Tony (a strong male presence in his life since he’s lost his own father and uncle.) Really he’s a just boy coming to terms with his power and finding himself and his place/role in the world while taking on problems, enemies, and dangers that the men, and women, adult heroes around him have a tough time with. It’s A LOT for just a kid (started choking up even writing that.)

Thanos has his own code of honour. He doesn't lie and he only uses the force he needs to in order to accomplish his goals. He isn't cruel or vengeful and doesn't doesn't even kill defeated opponents most of the time. He really is a unique villain.

    • @surfersilver6610

It became a BATTLE OF WILLS as Steve was in physical contact with the glove he could affect it, the Stones were stuck between the 2 WILLS now over them and Thanos was unable to use his arm or it's power in that moment, hence why the perplexed look on his face ("What is happening, my arm is stuck, the Stones aren't responding, how's this Terran doing this?") and why he had to strike with his OTHER FIST, as a master tactician he figured a way to break out of that and not just stay FREAKED OUT like someone else might.
Example: Wanda stopped to mourn Vision instead of dealing with Thanos standing right next to her.
Like try attacking the Gauntlet or other stones like she just did to Vision.

As someone who lived through the 90's comic book films being jokes and ridiculed. I sat there in the movie theater in 2018, knowing full well the snap was coming, and was able to sit there and absorb the reactions in the room. There were people screaming and crying, the credits was nothing but sobbing and chatter. After a decade, that's what had been built and the respect that had been earned. Although Endgame IMO isn't as good, the credits to that is the perfect endcap to what is basically a flawless 10+ year story run that was finished off surpassing all expectations. Marvel may have dipped in quality since, but the Infinity Saga was a masterpiece and this is one of the best films ever made. People cried at the end of a movie about people in spandex fighting space aliens. That's how far we have come and it was a beautiful moment to reflect on.

    Cristy, two things:
    1) Almost everyone invested in these characters at the very least teared up at the end of this movie. Some of us straight up bawled too. You are far from alone.
    2) Never be ashamed of crying or let anyone shame you for it. You obviously cry due to your big heart and that’s one of the most valuable things in this world. It is not a flaw of your person in any way.

The fact that Spider-Man feels it before it happens always got me the most. It's one of the few times his "Peter tingle" worked against him. It was an absolutely shocking moment in the theater when it happened and no one spoke a word throughout the remainder of the movie, cut scenes and leaving. Not sure if it will ever happen again but Feige and the others will always deserve huge props for putting a 20yrs project together like this, its truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Got to see this at the theater. Yes, tears, anger, sadness, disbelief... when it ended, it was so quiet... everyone just walked out in silence trying to figure out how to deal with the emotions.

Tony: No, this is where you ZIP IT, alright? The adult is talking! What if somebody had died tonight? Different story, right? 'Cause that's on *you*. And if you died, I feel like that's on me. I don't need that on my conscience.
    Peter: Yes, sir, I...
    Tony: Yes.
    Peter: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
    Tony: "Sorry" doesn't cut it.

Best movie of that year for me. Endgame was meant so much to me because I was fighting covid working in the hospital at the time.

Awesome reaction Cristy, from someone who cried in the cinema (as we call the "theater" here in the UK)
You wished for more Thanos and, as your followers including me said, be careful what you wish for. But you took the movie better than I did.
Fair warning, Avengers: Endgame will bring so many more tears, and still does for me

Notice Rocket survived, the only Guardian to do so. Then remember he said there was no one like him. He was spared because there could be no 50%. He really was unique.

    • @VelociraptorsOfSkyrim

There's also the fact that Thanos didn't see Rocket with the other Guardians.
I personally think that Thanos isn't entirely telling the truth when he said that the snap would be unbiased.
He kept his word to Strange for sparing Stark, and he happened to take all of Gamora's loved ones so they could be together.

Great reaction to a purely devastating movie.
A friend of mine who served four tours in Iraq and lost friends over there told me about going to see this movie with some of his other ex-Army friends on opening night. Five guys with varying levels of PTSD expecting to see the usual heroes win Marvel movie and instead they saw this. Five guys bawling more than you did in the theater, and they weren't alone. There was no conversation, just the sounds of sorrow. They straggled out with the rest of the audience, looking more like zombies from The Walking Dead than people.
On the better side(?) they proceeded to go get moderate amounts of alcohol and then cue up insane amounts of Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo cartoons to cheer themselves up. It more or less worked. But as he said, "Having to wait a mother effing year to see what happened after that was effing hateful for them to do to us." Can't argue with that.
And no shame on your tears. I got even more teary eyed than usual because my heart broke for you, you poor sweet lady.

Love your reactions. Joined in late so I’m behind the curb. But still love it. Also, I’m sure someone already mentioned it. But something interesting is notice Spider-Man took way longer to die then everyone? It’s because his spider sense was warning him of what was coming to him and his healing factor was trying to heal him as he was vanishing.
Again beautiful reaction! Love your Authenticity. Keep it up!

The emotional charge of this film is enormous, but in my opinion (and I hope not only in my opinion) the emotional charge of End Game is even greater. Remember that one phrase that is repeated many times in Captain America The Winter Soldier? This sentence will be said again, for the only time, in End Game. Immediately after this, magical, unforgettable moments will begin to happen on the screen. Have plenty of tissues ready because you won't have time to look for them. Tears will flow down your cheeks. People in the cinema halls were cheering, screaming and getting up from their seats during these scenes. Applause for the scriptwriters who came up with such a wonderful ending to the adventure in this world that lasted over 10 years.
