I've already driven the entirety of Route 66 in 1999 in my 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 that I built in highschool. My girlfriend, my best friend and I spent 9 weeks that summer driving from New Orleans up to Chicago to start then to California and back on I-10. I would love to do it again with my son when he graduates... In the same car I plan to give him as a graduation present.

LOL l always tell everyone that my first car was a 68 Charger, but technically it was a 69 Galaxy that my parents got me for transportation to trade school, so I didn't have it very long and got the Charger when I finished my training and started working. So it was just a temporary situation and had the 68 a lot longer

Concerning number 2 (the Autobahn in Germany) I wanted to mention that this system of roads is never regarded as one single road.
They are depicted in a completely wrong manner in this video. It's true that in many cases, there is no speed limit. But that does not mean that people drive like crazy on it. You cannot behave like a racer and of course drivers who drive in a dangerous way will be punished. The vast majority of drivers does not exploit the fact that there is no speed limit in an unreasonable way.

I have been driving the roundabout around the Champs de elysses a couple of time, and first time it`s really stressing around the rush hours, but finally I learned to drive there :) I love the Autobahn - it`s German so ofcourse everything is well laid out and works, unless you get into their road construction, which is pretty annoying, because if it is in the summer period you can end up waiting like 1 hour before driving again :(
The worst road I have been on was with my friends on vacation in Turkey, and we had rented a Willy`s jeep and went up to the mountains in south part area around the city of Alanya on some dirt roads, but sitting next to the driver with just under 1 meter before you would fly out into the air and then down the mountainside was not that funny, but it is still one of my good memories from that vacation :)

The scariest part to me (1984) was at the end near the 7 sacred pools, the 8 year old kids jumping off the bridges into pools smaller than a volkswagon 100 feet below. My son was there 2 years ago, said it's much improved. The road to the top of Mt. Washington in a conversion van on a windy day was also a white knuckle drive.

I hired a car for my trip down the Amalfi coast ( accepted a ride with a local as I left Herculaneum). I thought we were going to Sorrento. In Sorrento he asked if I wanted to see the beach. I thought he was talking about the bay of Naples below Sorrento and said yes. I was heading down the coast road before I knew where we were going. It was an unforgettable experience. The scenery is beyond spectacular. Unfortunately my driver’s old hatchback was too low for me to see over the retaining walls most of the time. It was also hard to appreciate the beauty of the place because my driver must have been a cab driver in Naples or a stunt driver in a previous life. Passing on bind corners and blocking traffic by making u turns or stopping to ask directions from a cop who was writing a ticket seemed natural to him. It was quite an adventure but if I do it again an open topped bus would be my preference.

I am really upset. Where are the whales? While I can appreciate & might enjoy the channel’s nice views of interesting roads & information- you are deceptive in your advertising! The most dangerous roads? Some of them were not even dangerous but also you used a picture with 2 whales along a road making it look like people would be in danger or as I thought maybe a road ran through a whale breeding habitat. No whales. It is really misleading to use a headline like that & should be against the rules. FALSE ADVERTISING. LIARS. CLICKBAIT.

    • @billyjoejimbob56

Yes, you can find records of approximately 432 km/h (~268 mph) by both Mercedes and Auto Union on the German Autobahn in 1938. Get real... the technology to set those records simply did not exist then. Any witnesses other than Third Reich propaganda ministry and their obedient syncophant auto company executives? I seriously doubt it.
As others have noted, the Autobahn is not a single road,, but a network like the US Interstate system. Perhaps 60% of its routes have unlimited speed sections, but of its total distance, far less less than 60% (maybe 10-20%) remains speed unlimited. And the posted speed are not "recommended"! They are limits strictly enforced, mostly by surveilance cameras, and the registered owner of the vehicle will be fined courtesy of Duetch Post.

Can you believe that people actually live on that block? They'd never get peace and quiet. And there's no parking on that block, but that's not as much of an issue for residents, as San Francisco is unique to the US West Coast in that owning a car is a strong inconvenience in that city so may residents don't own cars. But if you're looking for a quiet idyllic place in The City, this block of Lombard Street is one to avoid.

Route 66 is the one Highway I want to drive. I was out there in 1990 and discouraged from driving it since there were sparse gas stations. I wish I had driven it. I'll go one of these days

The problem with the Route 66 part of this video is that a lot of the road doesn't exist anymore. Literally it's gone.

Would it have hurt to put distances in US standard measurements too? I can assure you, the posted speed limit on the road in San Francisco isn't 8 KMH, it's 5 MPH.

I've taken four of these, Las Vegas Blvd. Cabot, Lombard and Route 66, albeit I was ten when we rode Cabot. Lombard Street made me carsick. Las Vegas Blvd was annoy. Route 66 was awesome, I wish we'd gone further.

The views with a significant amount of traffic obviously date from 2019 or earlier, since in 2020 most urban areas experienced far fewer vehicles for months. This would be particularly true of Las Vegas Boulevard.

Agreed, its cool to wait at the barriers to see the planes land in front of you then drive across it. also i enjoyed the locals on mopeds treating the rising barriers like a drag strip, but with 15-20 people flooring it at the same time

Lombard St in SF has been closed to auto traffic for several years now.
Only pedestrians can use it now.
The residents filed a lawsuit years ago to ban cars.
