- Jay Leno's Garage is one of the most famous car collections in the world and to be able to visit is incredibly special! Join me with Jay Leno himself for a tour to take in some of the eclectic mix of cars on display as we discover what's within.
Inside the halls lie a huge variety of different automobiles, motorcycles and automotive memorabilia. From modern super and hypercars like the McLaren P1, Porsche Carrera GT, Ford GT and Acura NSX, to the almighty McLaren F1 and legendary classics like the Bugatti Type 35, Jaguar E-Type, Bentleys and Duesenbergs. There is no other collection like it in the world when it comes to sheer variety and to me also the impressive nature of Jay's knowledge about each and every one of them.
Arriving for a visit with my Ford GT, being able to tour around and take it all in has always been a dream, but made even more exciting by Jay joining to show us around himself. Amongst the cars are so many other things to take in and spot lurking around as we explore - I'm sure many hours could be taken to run through everything in detail!

he's the epitome of a "car guy". He doesn't just buy em and put them in the garage to say he's got it, he buys cars with history, and learns that history and I bet he literally loves everything he's got.

I watched a special one about Jay's collection where they talked about his garage being fully staffed with several mechanics and a shop foreman who said everything thing in there has to be ready to drive/ride at anytime, because you never knew when he would walk in and want to drive a particular one.
I guess that explains the constant stream of battery tender cable through out the facility.

I want to know how he runs that operation. For example, does he pay the staff with money that spins off from investments every year? I know he has some car care products, maybe that pays the staff? Does he talk to them often and direct them, or does the foreman oversee most of the operations? It seems to run like a well-oiled machine and I'd love to see how he set it up. Honestly, there's so many fascinating things about his collection--the cars, the decor/art, the staffing, the acquisition of cars, the show, and on and on.
His decor and how he set it up is so nice I think its overlooked by the cars. I could just sit in one room and admire the atmosphere. Those giant pictures are so nice.

I love the fact that Leno actually had driven all of his supercars way more than what any other owner might drive.
The insane knowledge of every car in that collection is impressive! He loves those cars, and so good how he drives them all and works on them.
I've always loved Jay's garage... I mean, not just the cars but also the garage itself (the walls, decoration, lights, emblems everywhere... what a nice place !)

There are so many celebrities that are like “Yeah I like cars” and have stuff like Lambos, Ferrari’s, Maybachs, those who like the “hyped” cars. And then there’s Jay, a pure car guy that loves all things related to automobiles, and has a car collection that’s probably the biggest in the world and doesn’t toot his horn all the time. Massive respect for him.
He's always been a car guy first and a "celebrity" second.

You should also mention that he drives all of his cars. IIRC Chris Harris stood with him in front of a random car and asked: "when was the last time you drove this?" and Leno told him to put his hand on the hood of the car, the engine was still warm.
Many people are "collecting" (=taking off the road) drivers cars just to look at them or call it an "investment", the worst cases are those who buy 5-10 identical cars and ruin the market for true enthusiast because lightweight cars can't be built anymore, drivers cars should be driven as long as they are safe. Cars with special designs and luxury cars should be collected but not classic purpose built performance cars.
@@herberthans7015 Exactly and well said. I get tired of watching videos of people who own (lease) these types of cars for investment only purposes. Sure they are works of art to be looked at but they are also marvels of engineering that deserve to be used!
There are a couple of sheeks in Saudi Arabia or Dubai who have bigger collections actually but I think mostly foreign so Jay still wins with all American!!

JChristian Jay is a workaholic. He banked all the money he made from the Tonight Show when he was doing that and would live off the money he did from stand up on weekends so he’s probably got a lot saved up.

you can clearly see how passionate Jay is about his collection. It's a great blend of motors and it's nice to see someone so passionate about them.
What an awesome experience! You could see his enthusiasm about every car and tell that is for the pure love of automobiles and really anything mechanical. A memory to have for life.

The one thing with Jay that amazes me the most is the fact he knows every car and their details.
He is so interested in all the technical things and the history. Many rich guys just have the cars for the performance and status, but don't know much about the cars itself. but that's no problem, they just hire people to maintain and take care of the cars

I see this place becoming a museum after Jay's death. Almost 300 vehicles. I'd pay to walk around in that place.
It's an amazing place. Even for a car guy there's things I've never seen or even heard of. It really could be a museum. The crazy thing is that everything in that building is ready to be driven at any point.
I think he has thought of that. Just look at the place. It is already a museum and he is the museums guide. He probably has a foundation in place to protect this place in the future and make it accessible.
