    Tip #1 is so very, very important. I used to work in customer service for a major international car rental company. If there are any issues at all, they are resolved much faster if there isn't a third party booking agent involved. As a frequent traveler, I always price check through third party sites and then go directly to the car rental website. The one-time I did have an issue, it was resolved immediately with no hassle.

    I'm going to Menorca in July do i need to put a deposit down even if I have insurance on the hire car I don't want to have a charge as I have a debit card not a credit card??

    • @sensationalspain
      @sensationalspain  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi Diego! It depends on who you have the insurance with and how you hired it. If you rented the car directly with the company and paid their insurance, you shouldn’t have a problem. But in other scenarios, it’s very possible that they’ll ask you for a credit card. They won’t accept a debit card! So if you don’t have one I strongly encourage you to contact them before your trip to make sure you don’t need a deposit. They literally won’t give you the car with a debit card if you need to leave a deposit. Also, the credit card needs to be in the name of the person who’s made the reservation. Even if your wife is with you, they won’t accept it.

    Sorry but this video is not good because incomplete....
    - method of payments: it does not need to be a credit card, more and more company accept debit card as well, but you have to check the term and condition
    - Insurance: basically pay and don't think, that's your advice... What about people having insurance with their payment card?
    - Run at the airport: WTF ? All the people at the renting station are in your flight ? What the logic.... Instead make sure to give your flight number so that your reservation is not void instead of delays, thats a useful tip.
    Don't get me wrong, you give some nice tips for folks having no idea at all about what they are doing, but this isn't a video about been smart while renting a car

    My British Airlines Visa Card has car insurance included. The car we are looking at is $12/day for insurance. We plan to stay in north spain for around a month. Is it still advisable to use their insurance? PS, very well done video!!

    • @sensationalspain
      @sensationalspain  Před 5 měsíci

      I would. It’s not that the Visa’s insurance wouldn’t work if you encounter any issues, but the bureaucratic nightmare you’ll have to go through to get everything sorted out isn’t worth it in my opinion. That being said… the north of Spain isn’t as bad as the islands, and there are other factors like how much you’ll be driving, what time of the year, where you’ll be parking, etc.

      @@sensationalspain My wife (the driver) grew up in the south of france, so she is pretty familiar with the driving. I read that liability insurance is required to be included in fee for renting a car. The visa covers damage and theft. We pretty typically go off season and stay on familiar roads visiting family and friends.
